SonyBMG may soon be no more. Despite being together for 4 long adventurous years, BMG is looking to end things early. Both Sony and BMG had been hurt by music piracy as bad as two single people who were jilted by their future spouses. Unfortunately, both companies had long been losing money and the partnership didn’t help save things. Bertelsmann (the B in BMG)’s board met recently to discuss the idea of selling off their half of the company somewhere between 1 and 1.8 billion euros which comes out to 1.5 to 2.8 billion US dollars. By my conversion, that comes out to 100 trillion Canadian dollars but I was never good with currency exchange. Bertelsmann’s CEO Hartmut Ostrowski (AWESOME NAME) wants to get rid of its businesses that don’t fit his “go for growth” focus and apparently, people don’t buy music anymore. I could talk more about this but I’d much rather have you read the article.

Slash once used to play for amazing singers like Michael Jackson. Now he’ll play with anyone who’ll throw him a quarter. This is why Velvet Revolver ended. Slash has no heart. It’s not that Scott Weiland was a douche or that Duff McKagan’s done drugs that don’t even have names yet. This past Saturday Slash played Sweet Child O Mine with Fergie.. yes.. the lady lumps london bridgin Fergie. I’m thinking of hiring Slash to play some Green Day at the local high school. I’ll pay him very little though (You don’t pay a guy much who you beat in Guitar Hero, sucka!) Here’s the video

Chad Smith recently told Rhythm Magazine that the Red Hot Chili Peppers are not breaking up and instead are taking some much needed time off. Anthony Kiedis will spend the time banging models, John Frusciante will make god-awful music about water and Flea will proceed to dispel rumors that he’s going to play in Jane’s Addiction. Chad’s also been working on a new supergroup called Chickenfoot with Joe Satriani and former Van Halenites Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony. Which would you rather be in… Chickenfoot.. Red Hot Chili Peppers.. Chicken.. Chili…Chicken..Chili…

This fall, Avenged Sevenfold and Buckcherry will be touring with Shinedown and Saving Abel. If you were wrongly accused of being gay (not that there’s anything wrong with that!) and had to prove otherwise (and you couldn’t have sex with their sister in front of them), you’d be going to one of these shows.
