This past weekend in Arizona, the local radio station 103.9 KEDJ The EDGE had their annual EDGEFEST concert with a weird mix of rock and crappy rock and DJs. Rise Against, The Kooks, Alkaline Trio, NOFX, Mickey Avalon and Paul Oakenfold played and more.

You can see a bunch of pics here and read all about it here or here.

I have videos for you below. There’s one of Alkaline Trio playing their single “Help Me” but the douche who uploaded it (thanks for uploading, f you for not sharing) has disabled embedding. So go here to watch it.

If you wanna see a sideshow of hot chicks from the show, go here. Enjoy the videos after the pics of some of the hot chicks

Alkaline Trio played EDGEFEST 2008 in Arizona recently (review post to come soon) and the band was interviewed by the College Times. Singer/Bassist Dan Adriano talked about playing songs about depression, their “Settle the Score” contest (where they released their sheet music to fans and let them submit their own versions of the song), and about being a father (awww). Check out the rest of the interview here.

Slash recently told NME about his upcoming solo album. It’ll have 14 songs and it’ll feature a bunch of different singers. He’s been keeping a lot of the new stuff on a tape recorder he carried on the last Velvet Revolver tour.

Slash also dismissed rumors of Guns N Roses frontman Axl Rose fronting Velvet Revolver.

He also stated his endorsement for Obama saying “..it’s refreshing to see someone who’s reasonably intelligent come in.” Slash would’ve endorsed Fergie but she didn’t pay him enough for that. She did have enough for him to come out and play Sweet Child O Mine

So since the Red Hot Chili Peppers are broken up, I mean taking a break from writing crappy songs about snow, I mean taking a hiatus, bassist Flea is taking classes on music theory, music composition and jazz trumpet at the University of Spoiled Children (or Southern California if you prefer). Anthony Kiedis is busy being a daddy, John Frusciante making awful solo albums and Chad Smith playing in Chickenfoot, somehow college seemed to be the best choice for Flea. To read about Flea trying to avoid being late to class, go here.

Jim Shearer over at IFC interviewed famed music author/journalist Michael Azerrad a few weeks ago. Azerrad wrote probably the best Nirvana biography Come As You Are back when Kurt Cobain was still alive. Shearer asks Azerrad about making About A Son (the Kurt Cobain movie that came out last year), how Kurt was as a father, how he’d react to blogs and the music scene nowadays. It’s quite good stuff. Read all about it here.

It’s a slow morning for The Perv today which means that it was a crazy night last night for The Perv. Let’s start things out this morning with a funny little video of Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters giving “hit lessons” to Kyle Gass from Tenacious D. It has some swearing in it so it may be a little NSFW. Just remember one thing “Don’t Bore Us, Get To The Chorus!”

Camp Freddy’s an all-star cover band made up of Dave Navarro, Billy Morrison and a bunch of other revolving musicians and singers. They usually play only a bunch of one-off gigs and benefits. This past Saturday they played in Hollywood at the Paramount Backlot. Here are the videos:

Gem Archer from Oasis has joined in on the Jay-Z/Noel Gallagher feud by telling Jay-Z to grow up and comparing the whole thing to a bunch of schoolgirls running in a yard. Frankly, they should all shut the hell up. Seriously. Noel. Get Over It! Sure, some hip hop dude headlined your country’s festival. So what? Why didn’t you play it? White people love Jay-Z, get over it.

In other news, Oasis announced some new tour dates and here’s the presale information and the dates below:

Dec. 4 – Los Angeles, CA Staples Center

Ultra-awesome rock band Muse received their honorary degrees from the University of Plymouth last week. NME has about two lines more than I do about the story. Oh wait, we found a source with a better account of the whole story. No one really has photos or videos of the ceremony so The Perv has decided to post a “video” from Youtube of Muse performing “Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want” by The Smiths.

Apocalyptica is a cool European band whose members consist only of cello players and a drummer. They’ve done a bunch of Metallica covers. Their music is mostly instrumental but they have a few songs they do with guest singers like Corey Taylor of Slipknot. Anyways, they played Nokia Theatre in NY on Friday night and here’s a review of the show. They covered Metallica’s “One”. Enjoy the videos
