Yesterday, news came out that some artist named Natascha Stellmach said that she had acquired Kurt Cobain’s ashes and that she was going to smoke it as the finale to some exhibit she has on October 11th. She’s getting attention for it and The Perv only mentions it because it’s being reported today by Courtney Love’s publicist Alan Nierob that Kurt’s ashes were never stolen. Courtney’s still a psycho but let’s just hope we’re done talking about Kurt’s ashes.

We all know that everyone loves that little leprechaun Hayley Williams so much. I remember when I first met her and she said hello to my knee. Then she got on a stepladder and you could talk to my belly button. Anyways, her band Paramore, which is hotter than Heather Locklear in the mid 90s, has two tracks on the soundtrack to Twilight, a teen vampire flick coming out in December. They’ll be shooting a video for one of the songs, Decode, which will be released as a single. The director, Catherine Hardwicke, says that Muse will be contributing a song too. (WOOHOO)

It’s that time of year when celebrities and musicians/bands decide to get political. “The Boss” Bruce Springsteen will be playing a free show in Philadelphia this Saturday October 4th at the Ben Franklin Parkway (sounds so dirty!) btwn 20th and 22nd streets. Doors open at 2pm and the show will start around 3:30pm. The show’s free but you’ll need tickets which you can get here.

Part of what we pride ourselves on at The Audio Perv is that we tend to cover shows that aren’t in NY or LA like the other music blogs out there. The other part is that we haven’t had a nosebleed in over a decade (so jinxed ourselves there). So when we stumbled upon a Beck and MGMT show in Kansas City, we felt like we’d be doing an injustice by not letting you know about it! The Kansas City Pitch provide us with a good recap of the show where Beck seems to have shifted his focus more on straight up performance instead of all those crazy samples he used to use. The Perv has seen Beck a few times now and not been disappointed although The Perv nearly did cry (Dude had one crazy sad song and it lasted forever!) at the Y100 Feztival back in 2003. MGMT also played and the reviewer didn’t seem to enjoy them. Oh well, F him. If Beck plays all his hits like he did at this show in KC the other night, his shows next week at the United Palace Theater should be awesome. Here are some videos of MGMT from the show:

MGMT – Electric Feel

MGMT – Of Birds, Moons, & Monsters

If you’re anything like The Audio Perv and listen to the radio occasionally, rarely watch music videos (and never on MTV), listen to internet radio and read the usual music media stuff, you just MIGHT know who Thursday is. Coming from basement shows and Rutgers University, Thursday was one of the pioneers of emo/screamo in NJ and had signed to Island Def Jam. Last year, they left Island Def Jam and now have joined New Found Glory and Story of the Year as bands who’ve left major labels for Epitaph Records. Their next album will be out on Epitaph early next year.

Slash sat down with them good ole folks at MusicRadar and told them all about his Les Paul guitars, his solo record that no one will listen to and the new Metallica album. He also talks about Velvet Revolver and hypothetically what he’d save in his home if it were on fire. Truly, compelling stuff. Read more about it here.
