Starting on March 31st, you can get a free download of Kasabian’s new single “Vlad The Impaler” off of their upcoming album “The West Rider Pauper Lunatic Asylum” (out June 9th on RCA Records). Produced by Serge Pizzorno (guitar/vocals in Kasabian) and Dan the Automater (everything this dude touches turns to gold. Don’t let him touch you), “The West Rider Pauper Lunatic Asylum” is the follow up to the band’s second album “Empire” which debuted on top of the UK charts (not enough people in the US like these guys, They’re good!).

You can get “Vlad The Impaler” at http://www.kasabian.co.uk starting at 3:30pm on March 31st until 8pm EDT on April 3rd. “Vlad is a total chaos tune,” enthuses Serge. “It’s a call out to all our people, the ones who are tuned into our radio station.” I cannot wait for this song and record!

Kasabian will headline a Teenage Cancer Trust show at the Royal Albert Hall tonight.

To show their appreciation for the few people who still do buy music, iTunes has decided to increase the price of “hit singles” to $1.29. Don’t worry though, there will be a bunch of songs in the bargain bin at 69 cents. Several songs will remain unaffected and stay at 99 cents but iTunes, along with the music industry, will have succeeded in screwing over their customers. An iTunes rep: “We want to make sure that people buy as little music as possible” (This might’ve actually been said).

Jim Guerinot (manager of Nine Inch Nails, No Doubt and The Offspring) said “Wouldn’t it make sense to try to price it cheaper instead of squeezing the handful of people who are still willing to pay for music?” Apple’s trying to convince us that the increased cost will be worth the benefit of removing the anti-piracy from the songs allowing customers to play the songs on any player and make unlimited copies.

Speaking to the LA Times, former EMI Music executive Ted Cohen said “This will be a PR nightmare. It is for the music industry what the AIG bonuses are for the insurance industry.”

Thanks a lot iTunes and Lyor Cohen

Today March 27th, you can download for free (legally) the new Marilyn Manson song “We’re From America” at MarilynManson.com. This is Manson’s first song with his buddy/bandmate Twiggy Ramirez since Twiggy returned to the Manson fold. “We’re From America” is from the new album “The High End of Low” (out May 26th) will be available as a digital single on April 7th.

The actual official first single “Arma… geddon” will hit radio on April 13th. Marilyn Manson describes the album: “I think my life definitely ended and began. The record sounds very final, but it’s almost optimistic – though that feels like a strange word to use. It’s a phoenix from the fire and a redemption resurrection.” The band will be touring Europe in June and also be headlining the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival Tour starting on July 7th.
