Trent Reznor posted a message on nin.com today revealing Nine Inch Nails’s plans for their final shows which will hit New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Dissatisfied with playing during the day and with a smaller set length while touring with Jane’s Addiction, Trent vows to play longer more intimate shows hitting NYC venues like Bowery Ballroom, Webster Hall and Terminal 5, the Aragon Ballroom (Chicago) and the Wiltern, the Music Box at the Henry Fonda Theatre, the Palladium and the Echoplex in Los Angeles. Trent also mentioned that the band is in talks to play V-Fest in Toronto. One can only hope that Nine Inch Nails won’t end here. I’m sure that Trent will keep creating music even if it’s under a different name. Plus, no one really fully quits/retires. And would a NIN reunion show be anything to celebrate? I mean, NIN has always been just Trent and some young dudes who rock hard in black. Anyways, check out Trent’s message from the site below:

Getting right to the point, we’re going to play a handful of shows in NYC, Chicago and LA starting August 22nd. They will be informal affairs in medium to small venues with longer set-lists, possible special guests, cool openers and other surprises. Upon reflection, the NIN/JA tour felt like we had to rush through sets due to a limited allotted set length and many shows were in daylight – it just didn’t feel right to end NIN that way. An offer to headline V-Fest in Toronto (being announced soon) set the idea in motion to play some FUN shows to end this up with. If we can get it together we’ll film these shows, too.

In NYC we’ll be playing Bowery Ballroom, Webster Hall and Terminal 5. In Chicago, the Aragon Ballroom. In LA we’ll be at The Wiltern, The Henry Fonda, The Palladium and The Echoplex. These should be cool, unusual and unique shows and I hope you come out – this is it.

So far, The Horrors will be joining us for some shows in NYC, Mew will be with us at other shows in NYC, Chicago and LA, and perhaps more.
Details and ticket info will be announced shortly, so check back.

Thanks,
Trent

Alice in Chains, the last great grunge band, has a new album Black Gives Way To Blue coming out on September 29th. Because they’re so awesome, they’ve posted a brand new song online for you to download (at aliceinchains.com). “A Looking In View,” the new track is exactly what you’d expect from Alice in Chains in 2009. It sounds like modern rock yet still feels like grunge. There’s a video that accompanies the song and you can watch it at the band’s site (or scroll down below).

Check out what Alice In Chains vocalist/guitarist Jerry Cantrell says about the new track: “The song basically speaks to any number of things that keep you balled up inside. A cell of our own making with an unlocked door that we choose to remain in. Focusing our attention inward instead of reaching out to a much larger world. I think this is common to us all. It’s funny how hard we fight to hang on to a bone we can’t pull through a hole in the fence, or how difficult it is to put down the bag of bricks and move on.”

Alice in Chains has also lined up a late summer tour starting August 1st at Marlay Park in Dublin and wrapping up at The Fillmore in San Francisco on September 28th (Maybe they’ll film this one for a DVD?). Before the tour, on July 18th, Alice In Chains will be sharing the stage with Kid Rock at Comerica Park in Detroit. Other important dates on the tour include August 2 show at the Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth, a sold-out show August 4th at London’s Scala and KROQ’s first-ever Epicenter concert at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA with Tool and Linkin Park. Tickets will go onsale Friday July 10th.

Black Gives Way To Blue is the band’s first new studio release in more than 10 years and first with singer/guitarist William Duvall. The album was recorded with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Rush, Foo Fighters) at Studio 606 in Northridge, CA and Henson Studios in Hollywood.
