It’s been 13 years but it seems that a new Pearl Jam album will debut at #1 on next week’s Billboard 200 chart with Backspacer (Buy on iTunes/Amazon). Released on Sunday on CD exclusively in Target stores and indepedent retailers, Backspacer is estimated to sell anywhere between 175,000 to 200,000 copies by week’s end. Backspacer is Pearl Jam’s first album to be released without a major label (after years of being on Epic and J Records). The band’s last studio album, Pearl Jam (J Records) debuted at #2 on the charts with 279,000 first week sales. Pearl Jam’s previous album to debut at #1 was 1996′s No Code.
One of our favorite radio stations, KRBZ 96.5 The Buzz, has a morning program called “Afentra’s Big Fat Morning Buzz” and this upcoming Monday (9/28) they’re putting on a really cool event called “Kegs & Eggs.” This installment of “Kegs & Eggs” is at the Firefly Lounge in Westport (Kansas City) and features an unplugged performance by The Airborne Toxic Event. Oh and the first 100 people to attend get a free drink! Even better, the WHOLE EVENT IS FREE! You do have to be there super early like at 7AM (Wow, The Airborne Toxic Event and booze at 7AM, that’s the life!). If you happen to be going, please take some pictures and videos. To get more info on KRBZ, go to 965thebuzz.com. For info on the Firefly Lounge, go to fireflykc.com.
Infectious rockers MAYDAY PARADE will herald the release of their major label debut Anywhere But Here with a nearly non-stop tour schedule, including a co-headlining slot on Alternative Press’ tour “The Fall Ball ’09†alongside The Academy Is…, Set Your Goals, The Secret Handshake, and You Me At Six. Anywhere But Here drops everywhere on October 6th and was produced by David Bendeth (Paramore, All Time Low). The band’s 2007 breakthrough debut A Lesson In Romantics made a top 10 debut on Billboard’s “Top Heatseekers†chart on its way to sales exceeding 100,000.
The New York Post’s Maxine Sheen called the album “emotionally charged†and “vicariously thrilling,†while AOL Music’s “PopEater†blog declared, “Mayday Parade writes songs that bring out the addict in all of us. Their catchy pop vocals, slap-in-the-face lyrics and bright, uptempo melodies are enough to send you to rehab for OD’ing on their debut album.â€
MAYDAY PARADE has toured as headliners; on multi-artist bills such as the “Compromising of Integrity, Morality, and Principles in Exchange for Money Tour†alongside All Time Low, The Maine, and Every Avenue; and on such festival roadshows as the Vans Warped Tour and the UK’s Give It A Name.

Los Angeles rock band LoveHateHero is currently streaming America Underwater, its new release in stores September 29 on Ferret Music, all over the Worldwide Web via Myspace, Facebook, Purevolume, iLike, Last FM, as well as on Ferret’s iPhone App so you can listen while you are away from your computer.
The band’s third full length release focuses more on its well-developed vocal melodies and cleanly polished hooks, clearly showing a band that has matured and hit its stride.
“Everyone’s better at what they’re doing so we were able to get more creative,” singer Pierrick Berube explains. “The album still holds true to the band’s sound but adds so much more depth, while at the same time being a more care free album.â€
Receiving 3 ½ stars from Alternative Press, the tastemaker magazine wrote of American Underwater: “Bursting with strong melodies…their choruses are the kind that can only be removed from your brain by surgery or a bullet.â€
If storming the Internet with 10 brand new anthems isn’t enough, LoveHateHero has also released its brand new video for the title track off America Underwater. Shot in Lake Mohave, AZ this past summer, the clip was directed by Spence Nicholson (Hollywood Undead, Hit the Lights, The Devil Wears Prada).
LoveHateHero will launch its fall tour with Gwen Stacy, Ice Nine Kills and Stray From The Path on October 17 in South Bend, IN.

After just one day on the market Brand New’s album, Daisy, is sitting pretty towards the top of the iTunes charts at number 4. While chart position may not be of the utmost importance to a band like Brand New, it is a testament to the quality of the album they’ve produced for the world to hear. With each album review a new comparison is made between Brand New and the likes of Modest Mouse, Radiohead, The Jesus Lizard, My Bloody Valentine and a slew of other ’90s alternative and indie rock icons. The reality of Daisy is that, “the remnants of pop-punk have dissipated” (StrangeGlue.com) and fans are left with what Slant Magazine called, “an ambitious leftfield stunner” and an an album that “explodes without warning” (SPIN).
Daisy is in stores now and can be purchased on iTunes.
