Mr. Hopeless (TAP contributor)
1) Pearl Jam – “The Fixer”
Good to see Vedder taking down the man and doing commercials for Target.
2) Green Day – “Before the Lobotomy”
Can any year Armstrong and company release new music really be that bad? I say no, but out-of-work music industry types beg to differ. Don’t worry, no one employed by the music industry is worth employing anyway.
3) Chevelle – “Jars”
Chevelle has been delivering real rock even after hitting the mainstream. Kudos.
4) Breaking Benjamin – “Hopeless”
Breaking Benjamin’s lead Benjamin Burnley is too afraid of flying to tour overseas. Sucks for those countries.
5) Rammstein – “Pussy”
The Germans don’t understand the difference between music videos and porn…and I’m O.K. with that.

Yes, we realize this is kind of quickly thrown together list but we kind of slacked off the last week or so. Don’t worry, we’ll get everything straightened out and the site will be better than ever and we’ll give away a bunch of new stuff. Thanks to everyone over at all the promo companies that we work with including Melissa, Ben and everyone over at Total Assault, Marni, Lisa, Sheryl, Lauren at Sneak Attack Media, Ken and everyone at Big Hassle, special thanks to Myles, Amanda at ABC PR, our favorite blogs RockItOutBlog, Antiquiet, TwentyFourBit, Consequence of Sound, all the blogs/sites that linked to us and credited us and even the ones that linked to us and didn’t credit us, all the labels and management who gave us free merch to give away and helped us with giveaways, Tenth Street Entertainment, Ryan and Jason over at Epic, Bich Ngoc at WBR, Darren at EMI, our photographer and friend Meimi (who saved our CMJ show), our favorite intern Gen, Mr. Hopeless, MOG, Seth and everyone at IndieClick, Kibbe, Maritza and Fancorps, Bridget and Rockpit, our Twitter followers, Facebook fans, Nicole from Sideways Media, everyone who retweets our posts and anyone else that we’re forgetting. Oh and you, the readers, who put up with our BS and came to our site whether it was to see last night’s Letterman performances, or read our reviews or listen to our interviews, kill sometime or just see if the word “perv” would get blocked while you were online at work. So thanks everyone and have a happy new year.

Bay-Area native Brett Dennen has partnered with Livestream to broadcast an exclusive New Year’s Eve performance at the Fox Theater in Oakland presented by Life is good and Another Planet Entertainment. “Starting December 31st at 8:30PM PST, fans can tune in to Brett’s Facebook page, website, or Livestream to view the broadcast.” Joining Brett are Brushfire Recording artist and neighbors ALO, plus several local musicians at a party destined to be the Bay-Area kick-off to 2010.

To kickoff this special New Years Eve performance, Brett will also interact with his fans on Livestream, with a special Q+A session from his rehearsals on December 30th at 3PM PST. The performance at the newly renovated theater marks Brett’s first local headline since selling out two nights at the legendary Fillmore. He also recently engaged thousands at the Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival in Golden Gate Park and supported Jason Mraz for a sold out show at Berkeley’s Greek Theatre.

This show completes a highly successful year for Brett supporting his most recent release Hope For The Hopeless, which appropriately begins with Bay-Area homage “San Francisco”. Closing the year with a broadcast presented by Life is good makes perfect sense. Brett’s 54-city winter-spring tour was featured Life is good as a partner, and both Brett and ALO played for tens of thousands at Life is good Festivals in Boston, St. Louis and San Francisco in the summer and fall. Their vocal support for the Life is good Kids Foundation throughout the year helped this nonprofit raise over $900,000 in 2009 for children facing life-threatening conditions.

With Livestream as the exclusive streaming provider, the player for the webcast can be embedded anywhere. Integration with Facebook and Twitter allows viewers to engage in an online conversation with other fans and the band. The performance will also be encoded for the iPhone, making the broadcast accessible to over a million iPhone users with a 3G wireless connection at http://iphone.livestream.com/brettdennenalolive.

Semi Precious Weapons announced additional US dates with Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour through 2010! They will be performing all over the country, including a four-night stand at New York’s famed Radio City Music Hall. Scroll down to view their revised list of upcoming tour dates!

As an opening act for Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour 2009-2010, Semi Precious Weapons has already begun receiving kudos for their outrageous live stage show! The Boston Globe raved, “Semi Precious Weapons split the difference between AC/DC and Queen with fierce frontman, Justin Tranter.” The band previously received rave reviews on their recent tours with Ladyhawke and rock icons The Sounds.

Even before they landed on the biggest gig of the season, Semi Precious Weapons turned heads and made music listeners take notice. SPIN described the band as “Like the Sex Pistols….. If they had emerged from Andy Warhol’s downtown Manhattan Factory Scene,” while Rolling Stone said “Tranter is like Adam Ant, T.Rex’s Marc Bolan and Ziggy Stardust wrapped into one, singing lead on AC/DC’s ‘Back In Black’”. After being named the “Best Band in NYC” by the 2008 Reader’s Poll, The Village Voice wrote, “Semi Precious Weapons are the most important band in America.”

Last month, Semi Precious Weapons took a break from their busy touring agenda to get back into the studio with producer Jack Joseph Puig (The Rolling Stones, Green Day). Stay tuned for more information about their upcoming album, on which Lady Gaga and Streamline Records President Vincent Herbert will serve as executive producers!
