DVD Review: Alter Bridge: Live From Amsterdam

“You don’t have to be an Alter Bridge fanatic to enjoy the truly mesmerizing performance on this DVD. Shot in several different angles, director Dan Catullo truly captures the band in far more than just a usual gig. You see and feel frontman Myles Kennedy not just singing at you the audience, but singing to you, the individual viewer.”

Recorded at Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam, Alter Bridge: Live From Amsterdam features eighteen songs from Alter Bridge’s catalog including all their big singles like “Rise Today” and “Open Your Eyes”, both of which were licensed to several television shows and WWE programming. What makes the concert truly enjoyable, however, are songs like “Metalingus” and “Blackbird” where the rhythm section of drummer Scott Phillips and bassist Brian Marshall truly shine where you see the band at its best, shredding and rocking out. You not only see shots of the audience back and forth with the band but there’s a camera mounted to the head of guitarist Mark Tremonti’s guitar allowing you to truly appreciate the talent and skill of one of rock’s most underappreciated guitarists.

Alter Bridge: Live From Amsterdam is not only visually appealing with all the high quality shots of the band and incredible stage show and lighting but also superb in sound. This isn’t your ordinary concert DVD; pop open a couple of beers, turn on your surround system and enjoy the digital surround sound. You may not be at Heineken Music Hall, but trust us, YOU ARE AT THE SHOW.
