CMJ darlings Freelance Whales played a sold out show at the Mercury Lounge in New York City. The fact that it was the fifth sold out show on this headlining tour for the band seemed to surprise the band (but not the crowd). Frontman Judah Dadone, who eerily looks like a younger Mark Ruffalo, remarked “You guys must have tweeted each other.” Freelance Whales played a ten song set playing every song on their album Weathervanes which is being re-released on March 16th on Frenchkiss/Mom + Pop Records (Good job Goldstone!). For about an hour, Freelance Whales enchanted us with their banjo, xylophone, accordion and Arcade Fire/Iron and Wine like harmonies. Check out the setlist, photos and some videos below:
