There are some concerts that you attend that are purely entertaining as a music concert. Then there are some that are amalgams of a rock concert and a comedy show. We saw the latter with We Are Scientists on Saturday night at Maxwell’s; and we LOVED it!
We Are Scientists are probably one of the most underrated alternative indie rock bands out there. The band has countless rock radio singles yet people sometimes forget who they are. For a little over an hour in the sweaty, low-lit dungeon that is Maxwell’s, the duo of Keith Murray on guitar and Chris Cain on bass entertained everyone with their between song banter ranging from “freeballing” to the duck at the merch stand. Even when their jokes are off, their rambling was cracking everyone up like before launching into the new song “Nice Guys”, Chris said that the band currently in the process of writing the song. Keith questioned Chris about it and how confusing it sounded to the audience. Oh, those silly guys.
Danny Allen backed up the band on drums for this “mini” tour that the band (from Brooklyn) joked had been so exhausting that Chris said he bought an apartment across the street from Maxwell’s. Check out the setlist below and, if you get a chance, catch these guys live. It’s an amazing show.
