Multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated Papa Roach will debut their video for new single “Kick in the Teeth” tomorrow, June 30, exclusively on VEVO, the internet’s largest music video content provider. The track is the lead single, which is currently leaping up radio’s Active Rock chart, from the band’s August 31 release Time For Annihilation… On The Record And On The Road, their debut album on new label Eleven Seven Music.

“Kick in the Teeth” is one of five new tracks to be heard on Time for Annihilation…, which will be rounded out by live material hand-picked by Papa Roach. The band urges fans not to confuse the August release with an unauthorized greatest hits album, To Be Loved: the Best of Papa Roach, which contains no new material, and was released today by their former label without the band’s endorsement.

“As a band, we always push ourselves to evolve musically and pride ourselves on putting on an entertaining and explosive live show. Time For Annihilation… captures both these elements and delivers the true essence of Papa Roach,” says frontman Jacoby Shaddix of the release, which was produced in the studio by veteran hit-maker David Bendeth [Paramore, Breaking Benjamin, Drowning Pool].

The new album also contains a special hidden track, personally recorded by Shaddix, encouraging fans to support the WhyHunger organization in their fight against hunger and homelessness. The frontman – who was homeless as a child – will also be recording a PSA for WhyHunger to help raise awareness for their free National Hunger Hotline, (866) 3-HUNGRY.

After The Calling disbanded in 2005, the release of singer Alex Band’s solo album We’ve All Been There has been a long time coming. With his record actually completed in 2007, a restructuring of his label left the release in limbo. Since then, Alex has spent the last few years regaining control of the master recordings and establishing his own label, AMB Records, partnering with EMI for distribution. “I’ve finally got creative control, which is the main reason I went through all of this,” he says. “So now I’m starting completely over as a solo artist and reintroducing myself to the world.” Today, he is proud to release his solo debut We’ve All Been There, featuring the hit single “Tonight.”

Alex says of his album – which charts the course of a relationship from start to finish – “It’s definitely about my own struggle, but I think everyone can relate to what I’ve been through from experiences in their lives. I think everything I’m talking about on the record is pretty universal. And knowing now that I’m writing for different cultures, with fans around the world, it’s important that what I’m writing about is generalized enough that people can take the songs in their own way.”

We’ve All Been There is available in stores and online – grab it now on iTunes. Starting July 7th, Alex will play a few dates with friend and Live vocalist Ed Kowalczyk before kicking off his first headlining tour in six years. For a full list of tour dates and details visit AlexBand.net.

The iPhone app: Brooklyn To Babylon: Shinobi Ninja Attacks! (available at www.shinobininja.com)
Shinobi Ninja Attacks! is like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles meets Double Dragon, with drumsticks and guitars instead of katanas and nunchucks. While the band’s music is bumping in the background, players choose their favorite Shinobi Ninja member and fight their way through the streets of Brooklyn, subway cars, and a massive line at the mythical Club Babylon to rock a show. Along the way players beat up evil hipsters, knock down douchebags from the Jersey Shore, and subdue angry subway riders, as they earn points and treasure.

The game comes pre-loaded with five Shinobi Ninja music tracks, one remix, and two music videos that can be unlocked for free as gamers reach higher levels. Shinobi Ninja Attacks! also rewards fans for making the real world journey to a Shinobi Ninja show. The app uses smartphone GPS capability to locate concertgoers who have installed the app, so they can be further rewarded over-the-air (OTA) with more free music and promotions.

Shinobi Ninja:The Video Game EP
“Blaow!! Straight up in ya face!” Brooklyn’s Shinobi Ninja is on the attack! A six piece diverse collective, Shinobi Ninja is the ultimate fusion of hip urban fashion, tech savvy, and DIY ambition. With their unique bouillabaisse (If you caught the Paul’s Boutique reference, you’ll get where we’re coming from) of throwback hip-hop, punk, reggae, and thrash, Shinobi Ninja crafts party anthems for the touch screen generation, old school hip-hoppers, discerning hipsters and anyone with a pulse.

Lyrically reminiscent of a house party in Brooklyn circa 1994, the band makes a nod to the old school while remaining in touch with their inner fiesta, fun craving personalities, and un-tethered desire.” – HIP HOP REPUBLICAN

During a recent trip to Los Angeles, Against Me! stopped by the Fuel studios to shoot an interview where bassist Andrew Seward and guitarist James Bowman asked each other some hard hitting questions (and some silly ones too). Check out the video below to see the guys discuss eating sheep heads in Iceland, on stage electrocution, and their favorite places to play.

The Wind Cries Anna Rose

Anna Rose, New York native, recently released her debut album “Nomad” and I had the pleasure of sitting in on her release party set. The twenty-five year old songwriter performed for a near capacity crowd at the Bowery Electric.

The folky songstress sings in a strong soprano pitch. The petite blonde’s songs tell stories of a life well lived and traveled. If there was a country Disney princess, the sound track would be provided by Anna Rose. Her songs have a maturity about them but a crisp, clear quality sang in the same cadence as many of our childhood favorites. It may have something to do with who the singer’s father is, but as an individual, she is a strong singer and very talented also playing guitar and piano.

Her music is very guitar heavy, having three guitar players in her band set-up with herself included. Accompanying was a drummer and a bassist to round out the sound. The way her songs are written it is easy for the audience to visualize the story she is telling. She has definitely been an apt pupil in the school of Hendrix, Morrison and Dylan.

My first impression of Anna Rose is that her music would be most fitting in a trendy coffee shop due to the very relaxed vibe about it. She definitely has the country-rock thing down and the potential to soon be counted as a peer to many of the young country starlets. She even performed a Dolly Parton cover of Jolene, for her encore. I’ll give her this, she definitely knows her audience.

However, I personally didn’t connect with the music. She is good, she is extremely talented, but if you asked me a month from now how I liked her show, I wouldn’t remember. It kind of kills me to write that because she seems so sweet, but it’s the honest truth for me. Even since the show, I’ve been listening to her songs to gain a better perspective, but soon after I forget what they’re about. But that is my personal opinion and doesn’t detract from all the potential that she has. I wholeheartedly welcome the chance for Miss Anna Rose to change my mind, because as a girl in this industry, I’m sincerely rooting for her. Maybe that’s just me. I recommend that you see her and judge for yourself. It’s the only fair thing to do.

Philadelphia indie folk-rock three-piece GOOD OLD WAR will hit the road in support Brandi Carlile beginning July 25th in Kent, OH, followed by a tour with Xavier Rudd (from August 25th in New York City). The support slots come on the heels of a successful USA headline tour, which saw them playing to devout crowds in sold out rooms. The band will also make a hometown performance on August 25, playing a set at Philadelphia Folk Fest with Jeff Tweedy and Richard Thompson.

The band’s latest album “Good Old War,” which was released June 1st on Sargent House, has been receiving critical raves from both national and local press. The Aquarian Weekly said that GOOD OLD WAR “seems to master the art of adorable folk music with their three-part harmonies and amorous tracks…the band has managed to create an album of folksy pop music riddled with vocals that melt together like butter.” The Star-Ledgercongratulated the album’s “angelic multi-part harmonies over finger-picked six-string weaves and brisk country rhythms” and called the trio “imaginative” and “superb.”

The album, which is the band’s second, debuted at #2 on the Billboard Heatseeker chart and #1 on iTunes’ singer/songwriter chart.

Additionally, the band’s recently-recorded World Café Live session will be broadcast today on NPR affiliate station across the country.
