International Pop Icon Kylie Minogue returns to the top of the Billboard Club Chart this week as her single ”All The Lovers” climbs from #3 to #1 after 8 weeks on the chart. “All The Lovers” is Kylie’s fourth career #1 single on the Billboard Club Chart and her first since “Slow” hit #1 in 2004. “All The Lovers” is the first single from her recently released 11th studio album Aphrodite and has been heating up airwaves and dance floors around the world since the start of the summer. The Joseph Kahn (Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Katy Perry) directed video premiered on MTV’s LOGO last month and is also being played on Music Choice.
Aphrodite sees Kylie celebrate her dance-floor roots and features Stuart Price as Executive Producer. The album debuted at #19, marking her highest U.S. chart position since 2002’s Fever. The list of songwriters includes Kylie, Stuart Price, Calvin Harris, the Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears, Nerina Pallot, Swedish House Mafia, NERVO and Keane’s Tim Rice-Oxley. Critics and fans around the globe have been praising the album as one of Kylie’s best. People Magazine said “Minogue delivers what may be the best start-to-finish album of her career” and Billboard Magazine agrees saying Aphrodite is “… cohesive, fun, and fitting for a goddess.” Aphrodite became Kylie’s fifth #1 album in the UK, hitting the top spot a full 22 years to the week since her debut album Kylie entered the chart. The album also made Kylie the first solo artist in the history of the UK charts to have a #1 album in four different decades. Around the globe Aphrodite debuted in the top 10 in thirteen different countries including #1 in Mexico, #2 in Australia, Switzerland and Spain, #3 in Austria, France and Germany and top 5 in Belgium, Holland, Ireland and Taiwan #8 in Canada and Japan. Kylie recently graced the June/July cover of Blackbook Magazine and the August cover of Out Magazine.
In the Fall of 2009 Kylie stormed America to sell out her first ever North American tour. The 6-city tour kicked off in Oakland and made stops in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto and New York, wowing fans and critics alike at each stop. Entertainment Weekly called the show a “two-hour post-disco fantasia of strobe, bass, and glitter—an all-out spectacle.” The New York Times claimed “The concert (was) efficient, clobbering, expensive, generous…close to an alternate reality.” Kylie treated her U.S. fans with a new song “Better Than Today” which she played for the first time during the tour. Kylie is expected to make an announcement about a 2011 world tour soon.
Over the course of her extraordinary 20-plus-year-career, Kylie Minogue has been a global force in pop music and is one of the world’s most successful female artists with more than 60 million albums sold worldwide, 50 hit singles including the U.S. Billboard dance-chart toppers “Can’t Get You Our of My Head,” “Love At First Sight,” “Slow,” and the Grammy-Award winning “Come Into My World.” She has received countless awards and accolades including an OBE from the Queen, 8 sold-out world tours including the KylieX2008 tour which traveled to 21 countries throughout Europe, South America, Dubai, Asia, New Zealand and Australia. Minogue has released ten studio albums, three live CDs, eight live concert DVD’s, plus her Greatest Hits, Ultimate Kylie double album and Boombox The Remix Album 2000-2008. Kylie has her own successful bed linen line “Kylie at Home” and has released 6 fragrances, the latest “Couture” for women and “Inverse” for men. Her 7th fragrance “Pink Sparkle” was released last month.

Dead Confederate unveil an imaginative, surgery-based music video for forthcoming single “Giving It All Away”. Directed by Jason Miller (Of Montreal, Major Lazer, Diplo), the video is darkly poetic and features the band being at the mercy of a group of small children (found through a casting call on craigslist). It really conveys the meaning of the song which deals with how musicians put so much of themselves into their music in return for so little. There were some additional bonuses on top of the creation of a stunning video. Guitarist Walker said, “I never knew how comfortable a hospital gown was…. now I know why the Scottish wear kilts!” (Scroll down to watch the video)
In just a couple of weeks on August 24th, Dead Confederate’s sophomore album Sugar sees its release. With guidance by star producer John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, The Hold Steady) Sugar pounds with a weighty, dark alt-grunge fervor that recalls Smashing Pumpkins’ heyday; at other times, the record buzzes with a frantic distortion and howling anger reminiscent of The Walkmen. Psychedelic and prog-rock elements add depth to a broad and diverse direction for the band – perhaps most evident on “Run From The Gun,” which blends harmony and Mellotron into a drifting, airy commentary on war.
Head over to www.DeadConfederate.com to download “Giving It All Away” and to check out footage of the band recording Sugar.

Of Gold, the debut full-length from Bars Of Gold, is now available for pre-order. The 12″ LP marks the 50th release for Friction Records and will see an official street date of August 24th from the venerable Michigan label.
If you’re in or near the Grand Rapids, MI area, there will be a release show on September 11th. For more info go here.
Featuring former Bear Vs Shark front man Marc Paffi, as well as original BvS drummer Brandon Moss and members of instrumental noise outfit Wildcatting, Bars Of Gold’s overall sound doesn’t fall far from its punk roots. Still, the outfit explores wonderfully uncharted territories, embracing elements of soul, garage rock and Americana.
Currently the band is streaming three brand new songs from the album on its myspace page, including “The Hustle,” which you can also download at the link below.
Listen to “The Hustle” (free mp3)
Undoubtedly one of 2010′s most anticipated releases, Of Gold is limited to a pressing of 500 on translucent orange and translucent green vinyl. It features artwork by Paffi and each copy will come with an mp3 download code for all the songs.
Bars Of Gold embodies both reckless abandon and creative inspiration, and it wraps it all in bouncy, pop-tinged bursts of sonic goodness. You won’t just hear these songs in your head – you’ll feel them in the pit of your stomach as the chaotic rumble gives way to a creaky banjo or whirling synths. These are gritty rock anthems for adults: a welcome, rollicking respite from juvenile themes and uninspired songwriting. Don’t miss out on this one, folks.
- Bars of God is a religious experience and the reason I find myself falling in love with music over and over again. – The Sunday Idiom
- If Fugazi had David Yow as a front man, but played like they lived off a steady diet of funk and MC5 records they’d sound a lot like this. Wow. – Metro Times
- Melodic and raspy ( think MC5 if sung by a highly caffeinated Tom Waits ) with complex, often jarring instrumentation, abrupt breaks and tons of fiery energy. – One Thirty BPM
