SCARS ON BROADWAY, comprised of SYSTEM OF A DOWN members Daron Malakian and John Dolmayan, has partnered with popular music streaming service SoundCloud for a unique free download promotion. The Free “Fucking” Download promotion will allow fans to get a copy of the band’s new song “Fucking” by simply sharing news of the download with their friends.

This is how it works: Fans visiting ArmageddonComeAlive.com will be asked to log into their Facebook or Twitter account via the built-in interface. “20 Years of Tall Tales” is the title of the web series THE BLACK CROWES will roll out starting Tuesday, August 3, the street date for CROWEOLOGY (Silver Arrow/Megaforce Records), their first-ever double album of all-acoustic material with new arrangements of their best-loved songs and deep cuts.

In a wide-ranging and freewheeling interview marking the 20th anniversary of their landmark multi-platinum debut, 1990′s Shake Your Moneymaker, frontman CHRIS ROBINSON talks about where THE BLACK CROWES–arguably one of the most misunderstood rock bands of all time–have been and where they are now.

Throughout the month of August, the band will release one webisode per day via their website, www.blackcrowes.com. It’s all here: the highs, the lows, controversies, the arrests, feuds and more. “20 Years of Tall Tales” was directed and produced by John Vanover and filmed earlier this month at Robinson’s Los Angeles home.

- Did THE BLACK CROWES–a band that has never played it musically or commercially safe and at times been crucified for it–really spend $1,000,000 recording an album (Tall) that went unreleased for more than a decade?

- What really happened in that Denver convenience store that led to Chris’ arrest?

- Why was the band really fired from the Aerosmith tour before being reinstated?

- What really went on in the studio the night the band held a bacchanalia for the amorica album?

- What really drives the relationship between Chris and his brother, guitarist RICH ROBINSON?

- How did the union of THE BLACK CROWES and Oasis on the “Tour of Brotherly Love” actually cancel out the feuds of both bands’ brothers?

- And what about the band’s recently announced lengthy hiatus that will begin when their upcoming “SAY GOODNIGHT TO THE BAD GUYS 2010″ tour ends this year with an epic six-night stand in San Francisco at The Fillmore December 12-19?

Fasten your seat belts as THE BLACK CROWESChris Robinson (vocals/guitar), Rich Robinson (guitar), Steve Gorman (drums), Sven Pipien (bass), Luther Dickinson (guitar) and Adam McDougall (keyboards)–share the ride in “20 Years of Tall Tales.”

Halsted’s new album Life Underwater is out now and they’re celebrating with a new round of live dates set to start August 1st at the Beat Kitchen in Chicago, IL. (Full dates below)

Life Underwater was recorded in an old Victorian House in San Francisco during the rainy season of this past winter.

“Most reels of tape have higher price tags than our budget for this album, yet I consider it the most dynamic, sweeping and ambitious record I’ve ever made” says Halsted’s singer/songwriter and bandleader Ryan Auffenberg.

After years of songwriting, touring and a self-released EP or two, Auffenberg’s debut album “Marigolds” was released in 2008 on Evangeline Records. It received nation-wide accolades in the press and college radio, and one song was even featured on the season premiere of ABC’s medical drama “Private Practice”. But rather than follow up the success of “Marigolds” with yet another singer/songwriter effort, Ryan was eager to break new musical ground.

Joined by Peter Craft, the two set out to gather a group of musicians whose finely tuned music sensibility was equally matched by a simple passion for making art. Friends were gathered, songs written and practice spaces filled. While they fleshed out arrangements, tossed around production ideas and learned how to play as a group, Ryan began to feel a musical chemistry and dynamism unlike any he’d felt before. In the spirit of this idyllic atmosphere, this album has taken a project moniker, Halsted, rather than another Ryan Auffenberg record.

In a world where self-awareness and self-promotion are too frequently the guiding lights of the underground, Auffenberg’s true to himself honesty is a godsend” – Aversion

A lovely, positively life-affirming jewel” – Jersey Beat

Live Dates

August 1 – Beat Kitchen – Chicago, IL
August 4 – Rockwood Music Hall – NY, NY
August 5 – The Red and Black Bar – Washington, DC
August 9 – The Middle East (Upstairs) – Boston, MA

All American anthemic rockers Drowning Pool turned the world into believers with their breakthrough single “Bodies” in 2001. Nine years, three singers and four albums later, Drowning Pool is giving fans a new reason to believe with their second single “Turn So Cold,” off of their current self-titled album, out now on Eleven Seven Music. “Turn So Cold” impacted active rock radio this week, landing #1 most added at R&R. The video for “Turn So Cold” has been featured on Fuse. Check it out below.

Drowning Pool was released on April 27, with a debut at #35 on the on the Billboard Top 200, #3 on Billboard’s Hard Rock and #5 on Billboard’s Top Independent Albums charts. The lead single “Feel Like I Do” became the band’s biggest radio hit to date, reaching #2 at Rock Radio, and remaining in the Top 5 for 12 weeks. “Feel Like I Do” also ushered in the band’s second consecutive Top 5 hit, a notable accomplishment with third lead singer Ryan McCombs, a feat that only Van Halen has managed before. This current chart success, a decade after their original hit “Bodies,” is a testament to the band’s longevity and ability to persevere and overcome the odds.

Drowning Pool is currently on the road and will join hard rock and heavy metal legends Ozzy Osbourne, Mötley Crüe and Rob Halford on this summer’s OZZFest. See below for full dates.

Drowning Pool recently joined forces with Wounded Warrior Project and the GI Film Festival in Washington, DC to offer “Feel Like I Do” as a free download to the warrior community, as a thank you from the band for their service and heroism. For more information, check out www.drowningpool.com
