Jesca Hoop Chosen For Whole Foods Artist Discovery Series

Singer-Songwriter/U.K. sensation Jesca Hoop has been chosen to be a featured artist as part of the Whole Foods Artist Discovery Series. Beginning on August 6th, customers of the chain will be able to purchase Jesca’s latest release, Hunting My Dress, in Whole Foods Markets nationwide. Launched in 2008, the Artist Discovery Series handpicks budding talent and gives their music a platform to reach the Whole Foods audience with premium placement in their stores.

Jimmy Dunne, President of Inspire Entertainment, a music and branding company partnering on music initiatives with Whole Foods Market stated, “When I think of the albums that have withstood the test of time – that continue to impress themselves on new generations of listeners – they tend to share a few common elements: a sense of “location,” a narrative thru-line, an authentic sensibility, a rooted trademark “sound.” And they’re always risky. Jesca Hoop’s Hunting My Dress boasts all of the promising elements of a timeless album, and it’s already garnered the affection of critics worldwide. Through our Artist Discovery Series, we’re joining the cause of launching her inventive artistry to center stage.”

Hunting My Dress made its American debut on July 27th to rave reviews. USA Today hailed, “A protégée of Tom Waits, Hoop has a wispy, haunted soprano and a flair for the sort of offbeat, grainy-atmospheric arrangements that can get singer-songwriters pegged as cult darlings. But the songs on Hunting, released abroad last year, also have a melodic potency that suggests greater potential”. NPR stated, “Jesca Hoop’s music feels of the moment and of the past, often at the same time. Hunting My Dress, presents both a continuation and expansion of her core sound and in the process sounds like her most fully realized recording yet.”

Hunting My Dress was also recently chosen for NPR’s First Listen Series and KCRW’s Album Preview program.
