Stone Temple Pilots 9/4 Jones Beach Wantagh NY

Stone Temple Pilots returned to New York for their first area show in over three months. STP was last seen in the “area” playing the Gramercy Theatre in Manhattan back in May. Now, the band’s been touring behind the new album Stone Temple Pilots and fans are still having a difficult time grasping the new material. The quietest moments of the show came during new tracks like “Cinnamon” and “Huckleberry Crumble.” There was even less appreciation for seemingly random jam sessions on lesser-known songs like “Still Remains” and “Silvergun Superman” that haven’t traditionally been on the band’s previous tour setlists. The band was at it’s best playing their greatest hits like “Crackerman”, “Vasoline”, “Plush” and “Sex Type Thing” yet even those songs seemed slightly off by soundboard mix issues. If you’re going to go see Stone Temple Pilots for the first time, it was probably a great show. If you’ve seen them a few times already, you probably wish that you paid a few bucks less for your ticket.
