After more than 75 film and television placements and several internationally chart topping singles and albums, Joshua Radin returns with his much-anticipated new release The Rock and The Tide out October 12 on Mom + Pop Music. The 12-song set marks the follow-up to 2008′s Simple Times, which earned Radin widespread praise and a #1 spot on iTunes. Following the release, Radin will embark on a nationwide tour. Full tour dates are listed below.

The Rock and The Tide is Radin’s third album and Joshua is celebrating the approaching release date by unveiling one “making-of” style webisode about the record each week leading up to October 12th. You can watch the first one on Joshua’s Facebook and Myspace. The second webisode premiered this week on AOL.

Joshua Radin’s celebrated 2006 debut We Were Here garnered a 4-star review in Rolling Stone. His success grew with the release of Simple Times, with the Sunday Times proclaiming it “refreshingly honest,” and praising his “soft spoken finger-picked songs…their lilt and melodic simplicity recalling James Taylor and Paul Simon’s early solo releases.” Radin has performed on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Today Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live and more. His songs can be heard in countless films, commercials and TV shows including Grey’s Anatomy, House, Scrubs and American Idol.

Radin has also achieved massive success outside the U.S., selling over 5,000 downloads through iTunes in the U.K. with no publicity or physical release. Radin’s organic expansion enabled him to sell out London’s Shepherds Bush Empire without a song on the radio, and to subsequently sign, outside of the U.S., to 14th Floor Records, home to such troubadours as Damien Rice and Ray LaMontagne. Not surprisingly, when Simple Times was physically released in the U.K. it quickly became a top 10 album with his single reaching #2 on the charts. Radin is currently top 10 on radio in 10 countries.

Produced by Martin Terefe (Train, Jason Mraz, Martha Wainwright), The Rock and The Tide is Joshua Radin’s second release with Mom + Pop Music. The independent label was launched in 2008 by Cliff Burnstein and Peter Mensch of Q Prime (The Black Keys, Muse) as well as A&R executive Michael Goldstone. Joshua Radin was the first artist signed to the label.

The Rock and The Tide is now available for pre-order on iTunes and Amazon. Limited edition pre-order packages of the album are also available on JoshuaRadin.com.

Kind Of Like Records is excited to announce the release of a split 7″ with Cincinnati’s Mixtapes and Milwaukee’s Direct Hit!. For this release, each band has chosen to write an original and pair it with a cover of the other band’s newly written track. Side A features Direct Hit!’s hard hitting “Werewolf Shame” along with an energized cover of Mixtapes’ “I Was A Teenage Poltergeist,” while Side B includes Mixtapes’ sugary-sweet original “I Was A Teenage Poltergeist” coupled with their more pop than punk rendition of Direct Hit!’s “Werewolf Shame.”

Due out October 26th, the record embraces the forthcoming holiday and takes on a horror theme – not only apparent in the song titles, but in the album art and packaging as well. Designed by Josh Davis of Dead Meat Design, the packaging draws inspiration from famed MAD Magazine fold-ins and features a pullout tab that turns an eerie face into a four headed monster. The first pressing will feature 3 color screenprinted covers with pink vinyl. Check out the photo gallery below for a preview of the packaging with a test pressing.

Also, be sure to check out Mixtapes’ and Direct Hit!’s previous releases available for free download (links below).

Third Man Records is excited to release The Greenhornes’ first full-length LP since 2002. Titled **** (Four Stars), the eclectic and pointed collection of songs will be available November 9th, 2010.

Formed in Cincinnati, Ohio, The Greenhornes – made up of Craig Fox, Jack Lawrence (The Dead Weather, The Raconteurs) and Patrick Keeler (The Raconteurs) – have been producing the highest quality rock’n’roll for well over a decade. Between touring the world over and over (and over), releasing 3 full length albums, an EP and loads of singles, and now their newest release, The Greenhornes prove yet again that this isn’t a hobby or something these guys are doing between projects – it’s their life. Good, old-fashioned rock’n'roll inspired by the likes of the finest R&B and rock innovators: from the The Kinks to The Zombies and The Easybeats.

From the dark pop of lead single “Saying Goodbye”, the glam bubble of “Song 13”, to the moody psych “Cave Drawings,” **** (Four Stars) is their strongest collection of songs to date. Produced by The Greenhornes and John Curley, it’s an eclectic and mature work and very much band’s own. **** will feature liner notes by Jim Jarmusch (The Greenhornes track, “There Is An End”, was featured throughout Jarmusch’s film, Broken Flowers in 2005) and the limited edition LP will be pressed on four different colors of vinyl. It’s good to have them back!

6. My Sparrow

7. Need Your Love
