The first annual Avalanche Tour brings together some of the biggest names in rock for a massive North American winter trek. This year’s tour runs from March 24-May 8 and features Stone Sour, Theory of a Deadman, Skillet, Halestorm and Art Of Dying. Tickets for most shows go on sale Saturday, February 5. A special fan club pre-sale will begin Tuesday, February 1 through Artist Arena. Visit www.AvalancheTour.com for more details.

Three-time Grammy nominees Stone Sour entered the Billboard 200 chart at #6 with 2010’s Audio Secrecy (Roadrunner Records), featuring the Active Rock singles “Say You’ll Haunt Me,” which was #1 at Active Rock for 8 weeks, and “Hesitate.” Audio Secrecy marks the group’s third studio release and follows their gold-certified Come What(ever) May album, which debuted at #4. The quintet–vocalist Corey Taylor, guitarists James Root and Josh Rand, bassist Shawn Economaki and drummer Roy Mayorga–have returned with a broadened range, a deepened perspective and the determination to make new album Audio Secrecy a multi-layered record free of stylistic limitations. Stone Sour recorded Audio Secrecy with Come What(ever) May producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains, Deftones) at Nashville’s Blackbird Studios. “SO stoked to be a part of the Avalanche Tour!” Taylor exclaims. “We’ve been looking for the right tour to headline and this is definitely it. We’re already working on an amazing show, the kind we have NEVER done before. We’re gonna rip these stages to shreds and leave the audience with crazy eyes and sore throats! Here we go!!”

Vancouver trio Theory of a Deadman is touring in support of Scars & Souvenirs, which has sold over 900,000 copies and is rapidly approaching platinum status. The album features the #1 Mainstream Rock track “Bad Girlfriend.” Scars & Souvenirs (604/Roadrunner Records) is a broad-reaching endeavor that puts lead vocalist/guitarist Tyler Connolly, guitarist Dave Brenner and bassist Dean Back high in the rock pantheon, achieving creative growth without sacrificing the hard-hitting power that got them here in the first place. The disc was produced by Grammy-nominated Howard Benson and is the polished and passionate testament to seven years of hard work, heavy touring and diligent attention to craft. Theory of a Deadman will release a new album this summer as well. “After almost a year off writing and recording our new record, we’re so pumped to be back on the road playing for our fans!” says Connolly. “Along with some great bands and some great friends it’s gonna be a ‘not to be missed’ tour for sure. Who knows, maybe we’ll pull out a new song or two for the crowds.”

Rounding out the Avalanche lineup, Atlantic rockers Skillet are currently enjoying the success of their latest studio effort Awake. Certified Gold by the RIAA, Awake hit the ground running with a blockbuster debut at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and also entered at No. 1 on iTunes’ “Top Albums” chart and “Top Rock” chart. The accolades have continued to pile up for the two-time Grammy-nominated rockers as Awake was recently named Billboard’s #9 Top Alternative Album and #14 Top Rock Album of 2010, while the group landed at # 7 on Billboard’s Top Alternative Album Artist chart. Awake has already seen three Active Rock smashes including “Monster,” “Hero,” which was used by the NFL in their Sunday Night Football and NFL Weekend Kickoff promos, and their latest hit and crowd favorite “Awake & Alive.” Like true road warriors, Skillet’s relentless tour schedule has not slowed down. As the group’s cumulative sales approach two million, they continue to build upon their powerful live show, bringing down the house from coast to coast. Atlantic Records band Halestorm scored a Top 5 debut on SoundScan’s “Hard Music” chart with Halestorm in 2009, simultaneously exploding into the Top 40 on the comprehensive Billboard 200. Produced by Howard Benson (Daughtry, My Chemical Romance, Flyleaf), the album is a volatile collection of infectious hard rock anthems, sexy hooks, and rough and tumble grooves. Last fall, Halestorm released Live In Philly 2010, a live CD/DVD recorded and filmed last April at the Theatre of the Living Arts in Philadelphia, PA. “Bet U Wish U Had Me Back,” the band’s current single, hit rock radio at the end of last year and is currently Top 40 on the Active Rock chart. Formed by Lzzy Hale and her brother, drummer Arejay, when they were just 13 and 10 years old (respectively), Halestorm has made its bones as a major league hard rock outfit via countless North American gigs alongside such like-minded artists as Shinedown, Seether, Flyleaf, and Trapt. Art Of Dying is a five-piece rock band fronted by Jonny Hetherington. The Vancouver, Canada based group is the newest signing to Reprise Records/Intoxication Records, the label started by David Draiman and Dan Donegan of the multi-platinum selling band Disturbed. Art of Dying has completed recording in Los Angeles with producer Howard Benson for their 2011 worldwide debut, and they are thrilled to now be part of the Warner family. The band has built a dedicated international following since 2006 touring with Disturbed and Seether, as well as performing at international festivals Download and The Virgin Festival alongside artists such as Tool, Metallica and 3 Doors Down. Fans around the world have connected with the song “Get Through This,” a true story of struggle and hope, which has led to a heavy following online, where Art Of Dying has topped the independent charts and developed a loyal fan base.

Science & Faith, the new release by Irish rockers and Epic Recording artists, The Script rocketed onto Billboard’s Top 200 this week at No. 3, making it the highest charting album debut of the band’s U.S. career.

The album’s arrival is amplified by the fact that the album held the No. 2 spot on iTunes for a week straight with iTunes sales exploding. The single, “For The First Time” is currently Top 10 at Hot AC Radio, and garnering tons of early buzz at pop radio while the video for the single is in large rotation at VH1. In addition, tickets for The Script’s U.S. Spring headlining tour will become available to the general public this Friday, January 28th at 10AM.

The album, which was released overseas, immediately garnered interest from critics and debuted at #1 in Ireland and the UK. Written and produced by The Script frontman, Danny O’Donoghue and guitarist Mark Sheehan, Science & Faith was recorded in both London and Los Angeles over the past year and is once again a testament to what The Script do best…pen emotion-packed songs that contain fluid melodies, haunting hooks and Danny’s soulful vocals riding high over huge, anthemic choruses. The poignant and stirring first single entitled, “For The First Time” currently charting Top 10 at Hot AC Radio is already resonating with people around the world.

Critics on U.S. soil have followed suit. USA TODAY awarded Science & Faith a stellar review, The New York Times bestowed the album a “critic’s choice review,” while Entertainment Weekly described “the band’s sunny lyrics, tuneful riffs, and build-build explode! – choruses nail a VH1 catnip niche.”

The Script have already made appearances on NBC’s Today Show, The Late Show with David Letterman, Live! With Regis & Kelly, Ellen DeGeneres, and an outdoor stage performance on Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!

2009-2010 proved to be an extremely successful year for The Script. With the U.S. release of their debut album, The Script took America by storm; performing on The Today Show, The View, Jimmy Kimmel, Ellen DeGeneres, and the Late Show with David Letterman to name a few. VH1 handpicked the band for their powerful “You Oughta Know” artist campaign and recently aired the band’s “Unplugged” performance. Declared an “On The Verge” band by USA TODAY, Rolling Stone raved, “The Script…born to open for Sir Paul McCartney,” while Entertainment Weekly described The Script’s music as, “smart piano-based pop that’s well-crafted and romantic, recalling Coldplay, The Fray and, most impressively, The Police.”

The Script is Danny O’Donoghue (vocals/keys), Mark Sheehan (guitar) and Glen Power (drums).

Alternative rock band, The Blue Pages, have announced the release of their new 5-song EP, Anthropology on Tuesday, February 1st. The first single “Run Back Home” was released in December and has been streaming on Clear Channel Radio, Facebook and Myspace.

Recorded by Christian Medice at C*Medice Productions in Brooklyn, NY, this release has already captured the attention of fans and various media outlets: a feature as Clear Channel Radio’s NEW! Artist to Watch, Hot Topic’s Unsigned Band of the Month for December 2010 and most recently, selected to be featured in Alternative Press magazine’s AP&R section for the upcoming March 2011 issue (on sale Feb. 1). The new EP follows the band’s previous release, “Night Hawke,” which earned them tours in support of Cash Cash, Down with Webster, and Let’s Get It.

Anthropology has a noticeably bigger rock sound than their previous album, which lead singer Zac Barnett attributes to the band’s relocation,

“The new EP was very much inspired by our recent move from Boston to Brooklyn. During our first week in the city, a close friend of mine invited me to see one of New York’s up-and-coming bands, Atomic Tom. It was refreshing to see a band portray pop rock music with an upbeat mentality, but still keep the emotion close to the songs. Anthropology really taps into our primary influences which include Bloc Party, Snow Patrol, Coldplay, Arcade Fire, U2 and so on. We love big, epic rock bands and we hope to have captured something similar to that while still maintaining The Blue Pages’ pop hooks and subtle electronic influence.”

The Blue Pages have partnered up with the nonprofit organization Education Through Music (www.etmonline.org), which provides quality music instruction to disadvantaged schools throughout New York City. The mission of enhancing students’ academic performance and general development through music is something all members of the band strongly advocate, and as such The Blue Pages will be donating 50% of all album proceeds from Anthropology to Education Through Music.

Fans will be able to download the full album by naming their price through Bandcamp (http://thebluepagesmusic.bandcamp.com). Select tracks from Anthropology will be streaming on the band’s Facebook (www.facebook.com/thebluepages) and Myspace (www.myspace.com/thebluepagesmusic) pages.

About The Blue Pages:

In 2010, the band completed two U.S. tours with Cash Cash in May, and another with Down With Webster and Let’s Get It in July; and have performed in the past with Panic at the Disco, A Rocket to the Moon, and members of Passion Pit. The band has been featured in Alternative Press and AMP magazines, as well as highlighted on Clear Channel Radio’s NEW! Artist to Watch. In December 2010, they were featured as Hot Topic’s Unsigned Band of the Month.

Rostrum/Atlantic recording artist Wiz Khalifa has announced the details of his hugely anticipated debut album, “ROLLING PAPERS.” The most-buzzed about rapper’s major-label debut arrives in stores and at all online retailers on March 29th. “ROLLING PAPERS” sees production from top producers including Benny Blanco (“California Gurls,” “Dynamite,”) Jim Jonsin (“Whatever You Like,” “Lollipop,”) and Stargate, who produced Khalifa’s smash, “Black & Yellow.” The official second single off “ROLLING PAPERS,” titled, “Roll Up,” ships to mixshows this Friday, January 28th and drops everywhere this Monday, January 31st.

On one of the many concepts behind naming the album, “ROLLING PAPERS,” the Pittsburgh native says, “I quit writing a long time ago. I stopped physically writing it down or putting it in my BlackBerry or iPhone. I write notes down, but I don’t write whole verses, so it was like saying goodbye to the paper. The paper’s rolling out too. So everything is real natural. The first thing that came to my head is how I really, really feel. I feel like this is my most natural sound. I paid the most attention to this shit when I did it. I was real focused. I was real keyed in on this shit when I was working on it and I didn’t use any paper, except for rolling papers.”

What’s more, “ROLLING PAPERS” is also being ushered by the buzz track “On My Level (feat. Too Short).” The video-only track was produced by Jim Jonsin and was shot earlier this month in Los Angeles. The video for “On My Level” can be seen at www.wizkhalifa.com beginning at 6pm ET tomorrow, January 27th. In addition to his debut album, the beginning of 2011 will also see Wiz making his national late night television debut on tonight’s Lopez Tonight (check local listings.) All of this comes on the heels of Wiz’s epic game-opening performance of “Black and Yellow” at Sunday’s AFC Championship game, which saw his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers facing off against the New York Jets.

Wiz’s debut album comes after a massively successful year in 2010. The Pittsburgh rapper brought his “Waken Baken Tour,” to sold-out venues nationwide, earning him great praise from critics in each market. Khalifa was also named the third “Fastest Rising Query in 2010” by Google, while The Source named him “2010’s Rookie Of The Year,” placing him on their December/January cover alongside Rick Ross, who was named “Man Of The Year.” MTV News also crowned Wiz’s “KUSH & ORANGE JUICE,” their “Top Mixtape of 2010” on their annual list, which also included the likes of Rick Ross, Fabolous, Lloyd Banks, and J.Cole. Wiz wrapped up a whirlwind of a year with a show stopping performance of “Black & Yellow” on BET’s 106th and Park and released the “Black & Yellow G-Mix” featuring Snoop Dogg, Juicy J, and T-Pain.

All of this has led to Wiz’s undeniable online presence, with close to 9 million profile views at his official MySpace page, approaching 900,000 fans following him on Twitter. In addition to this, the rapper has over 2.7-million friends on Facebook.

Josh Freese (drummer for A Perfect Circle, Devo, Nine Inch Nails, Weezer, The Vandals, Guns’n'Roses, The Replacements and Sting amongst others) released Since 1972 in 2009, which quickly became a widely discussed release as much for its unique marketing strategy as it was for the music itself with outlets worldwide reporting on the unique, tiered pricing plan that ranged from $7 for an album download to a $75,000 package of goodies that included Freese joining the purchaser’s band for a month, going to his house to pick clothes out of his closet and a flying trapeze lesson with Robin Finck from Nine Inch Nails. On Apr. 1, Freese releases My New Friends, which is both a follow-up and an extension of Since 1972.

Let us explain.

In early 2009, Freese announced the 11-tiered pricing plan For Since 1972 mentioned above. He freely shared that he had no expectations of people buying the “ridiculously priced packages” (his words) but was aware that the press attention he received for the grassroots marketing was not only fun for all but would help propel sales of the album that was a personal labor of love many years in the making and completely self-funded. Of course Freese, who has been playing professionally since he was 12, was game for any of the stunts and pranks he outlined in the various packages but did divulge his wife was fearful that he would be spending weeks eating at P.F. Chang’s Restaurants with “complete strangers” (see $250 package). Other highlights from the purchasing options included original songs written for the buyer, taking possession of Freese’s used Volvo station wagon (after being given a personal tour of Disneyland) and a miniature golf outing with Maynard James Keenan (Tool/A Perfect Circle) and Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh.

So did he sell any of those “ridiculously priced packages”? He sure did. While the $75,000 package is still available, Freese sold the $20,000 package (full details: http://joshfreese.com/buynow/20000/), all of the $5000 packages (full details: http://joshfreese.com/buynow/5000/) and multiple $500, $1000 and $2500 packages. Freese’s wife was right; all 25 of the $250 packages that included a meal with Josh sold out within 24 hours of the packages going on sale.

“All the direct to fan stuff that I sold and wacky stuff that I participated in was a great success in my opinion. Because all I really wanted was to get people talking about my record, forwarding the website to their friends, having a laugh about it and say ‘Can you believe what THIS guy’s doing?’ I honestly didn’t expect to sell as many of those things as I did.” Freese said. Between breaks in his touring and recording schedule, Freese penned songs about the people he met through the promotion and created the five-song EP, My New Friends. He once again played all of the instruments on the release and will release three videos in the weeks leading up to the Apr. 1 release.

Asked if he had any plans for new pricing strategies for My New Friends, Freese shared, “I have a few things up my sleeve but it won’t be as elaborate as the last batch. It took a lot out of me that last time around. I’ll probably do another set of P.F. Chang’s lunch dates and some more of the ‘thank you phone calls’ like I did on the last album. I am going to have a few involved ‘packages’ that will include everything ranging from customized ‘box sets’ to having Dexter from The Offspring fly us in his jet up to San Luis Obispo and go see Bubble Gum Alley (I think if ya slip Dexter a C-note he’ll do a few doughnuts or wheelies on the way back). I’m also trying to get Tommy Lee involved in a seance up at Danny Lohner’s castle with one of the buyers too. Maybe have him DJ while we get in touch with the spirit of Divine or Buddy Rich or something.” Freese plans to share the package details via his website (joshfreese.com) on Mar. 28.

Freese is also proud to announce that he just signed the first ever “720 deal” with Outerscope Records (which is comprised of Freese, his wife and their nanny when the kids are napping). “360 deals were all the talk a couple of years ago but the folks at Outerscope Records came up with a deal where we get paid twice around instead of just once.” Freese continued. “That made a lot more sense to us… why only go around once? I bet Madonna, Jay-Z and all those bands that were signing 360 deals a few years ago are going to feel kind of silly when they hear about my 720 deal!”

Freese also mentioned that a portion of the profits from the sale of My New Friends will go to the 2011 Freese Family Hawaiian Vacation Fund.

“I am proud of this record and hope the same 812 people that got the last one rush out and snatch this one up too!” Freese exclaimed.
