The Soldier Thread Kick Off Tour With Blue October This Week

Austin-based pop rock quintet, The Soldier Thread announce their first national tour with Blue October, kicking off at Chicago’s House of Blues on Wednesday, May 4, 2011. All shows will be performed acoustically.

In conjunction with the tour launch, The Soldier Thread will premiere a NEW video for their hit song “Matador” on on May 2nd with a FREE MP3 download at May 4th.

The Soldier Thread‘s unique sound quickly ascended the band from under-the-radar to Austin’s next-big-thing in just over a year having been selected as a finalist for Spin’s “Hot Pursuit” contest and having their music featured on MTV’s “The Real World: Hollywood.”

The release of second album, In Spades, in 2010 marked a shift from true indie sound to a more polished, pop-driven tune. Their songs are saturated in the themes of unrequited love, driven by vibrant transitions and haunting atmospheres, dabbling equally in indie pop bliss and post-rock poignancy.

TST’s unofficial formation was in the quiet rooms of songwriter/pianist/guitarist Justin McHugh and guitarist Todd Abels in Austin, Texas. After recruiting violist/singer Patricia Lynn and drummer Drew Van Diver, the group found it’s footing, with bassist Chance Gilmore completing the chain.
