   [...] Regardless of what you think of My Morning Jacket it’s pretty undeniable that “Holdin’ on to Black Metal” is a great title for a song. That was the cut from Circuital that the band chose to perform on Conan O’Brien’s show last night (June 23), and it’s an odd song, full of strained falsetto and a legion of scantily clad female backing singers. Sadly it doesn’t live up to that excellent title and ends up sounding just a little messy here—quite unlike the suffocating tightness of actual black metal. Maybe that’s the point? There is at least some fairly vigorous soloing at the midway point, which almost makes up for the disappointment. [via the Audio Perv] [...]
