Delicate Steve To Join Ra Ra Riot For Fall Tour

Delicate Steve is set to join Ra Ra Riot for a fall tour kicking off October 26 in Washington, DC. The group has toured extensively since the release of debut album Wondervisions (Luaka Bop), playing shows with a variety of artists including Cut Copy, Akron/Family, Free Energy and Battles and, this past May, was even joined on stage by Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo and Tim Harrington from Les Savy Fav. Of their live show, Village Voice recently wrote that Delicate Steve “…engage the crowd with their soaring guitar fireworks, rattling percussion, and funked-out melodica riffs.”

New Jersey-based Steve Marion is Delicate Steve. He wrote, produced and played all instruments on debut album, an instrumental set that “…slyly eludes generalizations (New York Times).” Since its January 2011 release, the album has been critically-praised by a variety of outlets, the group has performed on NPR’s World Café and, earlier this summer, Steve teamed up with drummer Zach Hill (Hella) for the song “Many Moods.” Proceeds from the “pay what you will” track benefit the Japan Chernobyl Foundation (JCF) and is currently available via Delicate Steve’s Bandcamp page.

The FADER noted of Delicate Steve’s single “Butterfly,” “Not many songs start like avant-garde tropicalia, bridge into overdriven electronics through Southern rock and still manage to sound coherent and great, but New Jersey’s Delicate Steve manages it on their first single.” See the unique video for the track which “depicts a dozen or so performers jovially – and independently – showcasing various acts, including ventriloquism, bubble-blowing and multi-hula-hooping (NPR)” here:
