The short films created by Seamus Murphy to accompany each of the 12 tracks on PJ Harvey’s ‘Let England Shake’ will be released on DVD by Island Records on 12th December 2011.

Award-winning war reportage photographer Seamus Murphy travelled across England to create a complete visual accompaniment to Harvey’s album, combining his observations on England with images from his work in Afghanistan, Iraq and the Middle East, places referred to by Harvey on Let England Shake. The DVD includes a previously unseen film for the track ‘England’ as well as notes from Murphy on the making of each film.

The release of ‘Let England Shake: 12 Short Films by Seamus Murphy’ concludes a significant year for PJ Harvey. Let England Shake, her eighth studio album, was released to critical acclaim in February 2011 becoming the fastest selling album of her career. The record was awarded the 2011 Barclaycard Mercury Prize for Album of the Year, distinguishing Harvey as the first artist to win the award for a second time with the Guardian commenting that ‘Let England Shake has cemented Harvey’s position in the British rock establishment’. The album has gone on to top numerous end of year polls including those of Uncut, Q and Mojo. Other highlights included an award for Outstanding Contribution to Music at the NME Awards earlier this year, as well as a live solo performance on The Andrew Marr Show in front of fellow guest Prime Minister David Cameron.

A live tour opened in Paris in February seeing Harvey play a string of sold out dates across the UK, Europe and the US, including appearances at London’s Troxy as well as Bestival, Isle of Wight and Coachella Festivals, before returning to the London for two triumphant shows at the Royal Albert Hall, ahead of dates in Australia this coming January.

High-octane, guitar-driven band MONA, who won this year’s MTV VMA as Brand New For 2011 – after also being nominated on the BBC’s influential Sound Of 2011 poll – has set February 21, 2012, as the release date in the U.S. for their long-awaited self-titled debut album on their own Zion Noiz label, through Mercury Records, a division of Island Def Jam Music Group. The 11-song album was produced by the band’s Nick Brown and mixed by Rich Costey (credits: Muse, Interpol, Audioslave).

“Lean Into the Fall,” the newest single from MONA, was blasted to Alternative Rock, Alternative Specialty and Active Rock radio formats. The song follows up MONA’s previous U.S. single “Listen To Your Love,” which can be heard on the band’s website, www.monatheband.com (along with video and other tracks off the album).

Nashville-based MONA is currently on tour with Airborne Toxic Event through the end of November, following two weeks of co-headlining dates with the Funeral Party. (Please see tour dates below.) This comes on the heels of a busy summer festival schedule, including Summer Sonic in Japan, and UK heavyweight destinations Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds.

Earlier in the spring, MONA showcased at the SXSW (South By Southwest) Music Conference in Austin, Texas, clips of which were shown on NBC’s Last Call with Carson Daly. Check out those performances here and here.

Dubbed “the breakthrough rock act we’ve been wishing, hoping and praying for” by the Huffington Post, MONA made quite an impression on UK rock audiences when they traveled there in the spring to support the UK release of their debut single, “Listen To Your Love.” They returned to the U.S. and began road-testing new material from the album, earning early praise from the New York Times, Spin and Rolling Stone, among others.

MONA – Nick Brown (lead vocals, guitar, chief songwriter), Jordan Young (guitar), Zach Lindsey (bass), and Vince Gard (drums) – have their roots in midwestern Dayton, Ohio, where Nick and Vince got their first taste of the stage at a Pentecostal church that banned secular music. Relocating to Nashville, they hooked up with Kentucky natives Zach and Jordan, and soon began writing and recording in the basement of their Nashville home.

While MONA’s style is a nod to Elvis Presley’s swagger, Johnny Cash’s grit, and James Dean’s cool, it’s also impossible to deny their unbridled talent and ability to write stadium bound rock songs. It’s evident that MONA is bound for greatness, but they don’t forget what drives them, “at the end of the day, we’re just four dudes making some noise in a garage and just having fun.”

In the wake of his single “Lucky Now” reaching #1 on the AAA radio chart this week, his critically acclaimed Ashes & Fire (PAX-AM/Capitol) debuting at #7 last month, and his every date in 2011 selling out in advance, Ryan Adams has announced his first live appearances of 2012: an eight date run commencing January 24 in Bethesda, MD and concluding February 2 in Denver, CO.

Adams’ current run of sold out tour dates has been generating escalating raves and will wrap up 2011 with a December 13 appearance at the State Theater in Minneapolis. Remaining engagements for 2011 also include a December 6 stop at New York’s famed Carnegie Hall as well as a December 5 appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman and an accompanying Live on Letterman performance.

Generating arguably the best reviews of his career, Ashes & Fire is eleven succinct and beautiful songs that “will leave you speechless” according to PEOPLE, and hailed by ESQUIRE as “too good not to write about” and by USA TODAY as a record that “restores faith in the increasingly saggy singer/songwriter genre,” Ashes & Fire was produced by Glyn Johns, renowned for his work with the likes of The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Clash and The Rolling Stones, and whose son Ethan produced previous Adams solo landmarks including Heartbreaker and Gold. The record also features guest turns from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench and Norah Jones, who contributes piano and backing vocals to several tracks.

See below for a complete list of confirmed Ryan Adams dates and venues.

2011 has been an incredible year for Austra, which saw the Toronto six piece release their critically acclaimed debut album Feel It Break and tear up clubs from around the world many times over. To put an exclamation point on the year the band is giving Feel It Break the deluxe version treatment. To accompany the original danceable masterpiece is an entire disc’s worth of extra material including the unreleased b-sides “Trip,” “Pianix,” “Believe Me” and a jaw dropping cover of the Roy Orbison classic “Crying.”

Stream “Crying” here: http://soundcloud.com/dominorecordco/austra-crying/

For completists, the B-sides from previous single releases are also incorporated including live favorite “Young and Gay” and the haunting Joni Mitchell cover “Woodstock.” Capping off the deluxe version is a positively sociopathic remix of album standout “Beat and the Pulse” by M. Shawn Crahan, better known as Clown from Slipknot (yes, that Slipknot). The deluxe version of Feel It Break is available TODAY digitally on Domino Records.

Austra also recently recorded an incredible live acoustic version of the b-side “Believe Me” for their Canadian label Paper Bag, watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1aW4p9r9rc

ATO Records/Prawn Songs is excited to release Primus’ video for “Tragedy’s a’ Comin’”, the first clip off Green Naugahyde, out now. The video, which premiered in a three-part series on IFC.com (part 1, part 2, part 3), was directed by Mark Kohr, who helmed Primus’ classic videos for “Tommy the Cat” and “Jerry Was A Race Car Driver”.

The video focuses on a lobster’s impending demise, soon to be boiled and fed to members of the upper crust, serving as a metaphor for global impending doom. The clip also features Les Claypool in a lobster suit, acting out the last moments of the crustacean on the beach. When discussing the making of the video with IFC, Claypool remarked “I spent so many years dodging goofball bullets from doing the ‘Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver’ video that I don’t resist it anymore. I got to put on a giant lobster suit, and that doesn’t happen every day.”

Green Naugahyde debuted at #15 on the Billboard Top 200, the highest chart placement for the band in 16 years. In support of the record, Primus recently wrapped up tour featuring two sets per evening, one of which being Green Naugahyde in its entirety. This past weekend, Primus was featured on NPR’s Weekend Edition, praising Claypool as “equal parts odd and prolific.”

Two lucky readers will WIN the Green Naugahyde on CD from us!! Just email us theaudioperv@gmail.com (with the subject: GIMME MY PRIMUS CD!) with your name and we’ll email you back if you win! (Winner must have a US mailing address).
