Future This, the new album from The Big Pink, is now available for download exclusively on iTunes (http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/future-this/id485053964), with exclusive bonus track “England.†Lead single “Stay Gold,†is currently iTunes’ free “Song Of The Week.â€
The album is also now streaming exclusively at Spin.com with a track-by-track rundown with the band’s Milo Cordell (http://www.spin.com/articles/big-pinks-track-track-guide-future).
Future This is the band’s second album and the follow up to the critically acclaimed A Brief History of Love. It was recorded by Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence & The Machine) and mixed by Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Depeche Mode, NIN etc).
Running in at ten tracks in 45 minutes, Future This commands your attention throughout. Opening with its first single, ‘Stay Gold’, a track written about doing what makes you happy, so immediate you could be forgiven for thinking they’ve not been away. From there, the album is paced perfectly, with future live anthems (‘Rubbernecking’, ‘1313’, ‘Jump Music’), counterbalanced with a set of songs that show a more subtle side (‘Hit The Ground (Superman)’, ‘Give It Up’ and title track ‘Future This’). Each song has its own message, mostly positive, and helps highlight Robbie’s progress as both a lyricist and singer. By the time you reach album closer – the mournful ‘77’ – it’s already demanding repeat visits.
Future This will be made available widely physically and digitally on January 17.
