Civil Twilight Announce Sophomore Album holy weather Out March 27th | The Audio Perv

2012

South African rock trio CIVIL TWILIGHT is set to release their highly anticipated sophomore album holy weather on March 27th through Wind Up Records. holy weather creates a perfect blend of atmospheric sound and hazy storytelling, which is crafted by brothers Steven (singer/bass/piano) and Andrew McKellar (guitar) and Richard Wouters (drums). Starting TODAY the band’s colossal single, “Fire Escape” is available at all digital retailers and as a CD single with select indie retailers. Fans that pre-order the album digitally through iTunes will instantly receive the single, as well as a pre-order only track and three, exclusive bonus tracks when the album drops – so don’t miss out! holy weather can also be pre-ordered as physical copies via the band’s merch store, where Limited Edition Clear Vinyl is sold in bundles, and through Amazon and Newbury Comics.

After the successful release of CIVIL TWILIGHT’s self-titled debut in 2009, the trio gave a spectacular late night television performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, while their single “Letters from the Sky” peaked at #5 at Alternative Radio in 2010. The single’s video was the #1 most played on MTV 2 at the time of its release, and reached #5 on FUSE’s Alternative Countdown. “Letters from the Sky” also appeared on major TV sitcoms NUMB3RS, One Tree Hill and House. This year, the band takes to the big screen with their song “How’m I Supposed to Die,” which will appear in Underworld: Awakening, and will also be featured in the film’s original motion picture soundtrack.

In 2011, the band contributed the title cover song for the record Come As You Are: A 20th Anniversary Tribute To Nirvana’s Nevermind, which Alternative Press called, “The most interesting song on the album…which sounds more like Coldplay than Cobain, but at least it swells and crashes into its own original.”

CIVIL TWILIGHT toured the States relentlessly and gave extraordinary live performances at major music festivals Bonnaroo, Bumbershoot, Voodoo Fest, VH1’s Best Cruise Ever, plus headlined the Rockin’ the Daisies festival in their homeland of Cape Town, SA. Additionally, CIVIL TWILIGHT has opened for Neon Trees, Mute Math, Florence & The Machine, Smashing Pumpkins, Cage the Elephant, and more!

Touring was a major force of inspiration on the new record, as Steven was heavily inspired by the notion that road life can change the way you perceive the world. Therefore, he started writing songs based on nostalgia, which would eventually lead to album’s 11 new tracks. Each track is carefully composed with Steven’s engaging vocals that cascade over his own classical piano chords and eerie bass riffs. Richard’s powerful drum beats and Andrew’s moving guitar riffs enhance holy weather’s overall sound that lies somewhere between a mood that’s as dark as the midnight sky, and is as uplifting as watching the sunrise. holy weather ultimately captivates the listener from the very beginning!
