The New York underground scene is coming to Mercury Lounge tonight for one hell of a show. Friends, Julia Haltigan, Kendra Morris and MotherFeather will be gracing the stages with a show full of folk, soul and pop-cock rock. The show brings together these musical talents for Haltigan’s birthday, which was yesterday. MotherFeather brings back the feel of PJ Harvey with the vocal styling of Karen O. With glitzy fashion and wild theatrics, lead singer Ann Courtney knows how to put on a show. Julia Haltigan’s Tom Waits-like crooning will be taking over the crowd as she performs some of her token tracks from My Green Heart. Wax Poetics’ musician Kendra Morris comes equipped with a soulful voice that could compare with the likes of Adele and Amy Winehouse. Her gorgeous single, “Concrete Waves,” was recently remixed by the legendary DJ Premier.
Mercury Lounge’s doors opens at 9:30pm.
