Spin Reveals Lineup for Annual SXSW Party at Stubb’s

SPIN Media is proud to announce the complete lineup for its annual SPIN@Stubb’s party in Austin, Texas, during the city’s spring music convention and festival. The party brings together a wide variety of artists, many of whom are featured in the newly redesigned March-April issue of SPIN magazine.

Genre-crossing, dub-pop auteur Santigold will headline in support of her forthcoming album, Master of My Make-Believe, due to be released May 1 on Downtown/Atlantic. Joining Santi on Stubb’s’ outdoor stage will be Cali surf-pop romantics Best Coast, anthemic U.K. synth-gaze duo the Big Pink, Brooklyn avant-pop tricksters Chairlift, luxurious 17-person disco retro-futurists Escort, and groundbreaking South African dance-floor icon Spoek Mathambo—promising an afternoon of high-spirited, innovative music.

Indoors, a stellar roster featuring the best of hip-hop’s New Underground movement will take the stage, headlined by Big K.R.I.T., with performances also by G-Side, Main Attrakionz, and Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire.

“2012 is a crucial, transformative year for SPIN, and we’ve already accomplished so much in just a couple of months,” says Charles Aaron, SPIN’s editorial director. “So we’re anxious to get to Austin and celebrate like never before.”

SPIN returns to the 3,000-capacity venue for the tenth consecutive year, after a long run of memorable shows, with fans packing the outdoor amphitheater to catch both established, legendary artists (from Buzzcocks to Echo and the Bunnymen to Supergrass to Hole) and next big things on their way to mega-stardom (Skrillex in 2011; Vampire Weekend in 2008; Kings of Leon in 2007; the Killers in 2004; the Black Keys in 2003).

This year, support comes from Sonos, Miller Genuine Draft, and Red Diamond Wines.

SPIN will be offering opportunities to win passes to the invite-only SPIN@Stubb’s event, for both the general public and SXSW badge holders. Follow twitter.com/SPINsxsw and facebook.com/spinmagazine to get party pass information as soon as it’s announced, and go to SPIN.com for the most immediate and groundbreaking daily news.
