Electric Guest a/k/a Asa Taccone and Matthew Compton have just finished up a successful run of live dates including a grand slam slew of performances at this year’s SXSW. Now, as the countdown to the April 24th release of their debut LP Mondo (Downtown Records) begins, the band have revealed a brand new website; an interactive puzzle which once completed unlocks streams of non-LP bonus track “Jenny” and an acoustic version of their first single “This Head I Hold”. Point your browsers to www.electricguest.com to take a stab at unlocking these two aural pleasures.
The album version of the single debuted at #38 last week on the Alternative Radio Charts and is gaining spins by the minute.
Critics took notice of Electric Guest as they made their first visit to Austin’s SXSW where they played several showcases including Filter Magazine’s party and the Third Man Records Texas Stand-Off. The Austin Chronicle predicted “most eyes will be on Electric Guest,” and The Los Angeles Times said “singer Asa Taccone graces the songs with a romantic falsetto,” while Billboard picked up on their “electro-pop flair” citing them as on of the “Top 20 Breakout Bands” at SXSW. Be sure to catch the duo’s rousing live show as they kick off the second leg of their U.S. tour in Visalia, CA on April 10th.
