Black Box Revelation, who recently released their US album debut, My Perception (Merovee Records) are returning to the States this September to support The Sheepdogs on their six-week fall tour, kicking off on September 19 on the East Coast (scroll down for complete dates). The Belgian duo, who made their US late-night television debut this past June on The Late Show with David Letterman for their first single, “High on a Wire”, have a gritty guitar rock sound and massive stage presence that’s served them well on festival circuit from Bonnaroo to Belgium’s Roch Werchter.
BBR gets its ya yas out on My Perception, channeling classic rock ‘n’ roll, garage and blues, with tons of swagger and attitude. “Rattle My Heart” pays homage to the early Stones, while the spooky acoustic strains of “Bitter” features a raw vocal by frontman Jan Paternoster and the refrain “why don’t we eat each other’s hearts.” “High On a Wire” is a pounding dirty blooz track about the life on the road (they’ve been touring overseas since their early teens); while the thick ambiance of “2 Young Boys,” the percussive beat of “Shadowman” and the psych blues of “White Unicorns” have a sense of discovery and raw enthusiasm of a band coming into their own.
The duo, 23-year-old Jan Paternoster and his 21-year-old sidekick Dries Van Dijck, have been playing together for a nearly a decade and already have two acclaimed guitar-rock albums to their credit in Europe — 2007′s Set Your Head on Fire and 2010′s Silver Threats (recorded in London’s legendary Konk Studios).
