Ume today announced that they will appear on the season premiere of the Emmy® award-winning series “Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations – The Final Tour.” The episode will debut on Travel Channel on Monday, September 3rd at 9:00 PM ET / PT to launch the ninth and final season of the acclaimed series.
The one-hour season opener starts in Austin, TX where Bourdain soaks in all that is good in the hipster hotspot during the 2012 SXSW Interactive, Film, and Music Festival. With a variety of musical artists as his guides, Tony enjoys a great week of music, fantastic food and partying with a bunch of cool new rock star friends.
While in Austin, Bourdain attended Ume’s packed performance at Hotel Vegas for the Brooklyn Vegan SXSW party. To quote Bourdain, it was “… a shitload of rawk in a tiny little room.” Bourdain also enjoyed some hardcore eats with the local trio, over dinner at the Barley Swine restaurant. Check out the teaser below for a preview of the band’s time with Bourdain.
“We’re big fans of Anthony Bourdain,” said Ume’s Lauren Larson. “We’re thrilled to have had the opportunity to help show him what makes Austin such a unique place and honored he came out to see us play live in our hometown!”
Ume on No Reservations: Chicken Balls in Austin
Before Ume heads back out in the road in the fall, they will head back into the studio to work on the follow-up to their debut full-length album Phantoms. Ume will be recording their new album with Grammy® Award winning producer Adam Kasper (Foo Fighters, Cat Power, Queens of the Stone Age).
Hailing from Austin, Texas, Ume is Lauren Larson (Vocals, Guitar), Eric Larson (Bass), and Rachel Fuhrer (Drums). The trio’s music is one of beautiful juxtapositions: the loud and soft, the aggressive and eerie, buoyant melodies bursting through wall-of-noise dissonance. Ume explores the artier, heavier side of indie rock, post-punk, and alternative rock. Like a bridge between Black Sabbath and Bat For Lashes, the LP is heavy, anthemic, beautiful and mesmerizing.
