DGC/Interscope Records rock band Escape the Fate (singer Craig Mabbitt, bassist Max Green, guitarist Monte Money and drummer Robert Ortiz) has revealed that their eagerly anticipated major label debut will be self-titled and unleashed on November 2nd.
Max explains, “We’re making our mark on the world 100% through blood sweat and tears and so we felt we should set it in stone by self titling our album.”
The first track, “Massacre,” from Escape The Fate premiered this weekend on MySpace and received over 200,000 page views in just 48 hours. The pummeling song gives fans an electrifying mouthful of what’s to come. Max offers, “We chose “Massacre” as a street track for the fans because it is full force and us at our peak. The band’s forthcoming third album was produced by Don Gilmore (Bullet For My Valentine, Linkin Park). Escape The Fate blends metal licks with pop melodies and soaring guitar solos with anthemic choruses into an epic sound only hinted at on the band’s previous discs: 2008’s This War Is Ours and 2006’s Dying Is Your Latest Fashion. The album’s rousing first official single, “Issues,” will impact at radio this month.
“There are no more questions about who we are. This album is us, through and through,” says Monte. “Every member has grown, and we’re waving our flag. On the heels of the momentous success of “Waka Waka,” Shakira is set to release her new single “Loca” in Spanish and English featuring UK phenomenon Dizzee Rascal and Dominican hip-hop artist El Cata (on the English and Spanish respectively). Recorded in the Dominican Republic, Shakira brings her signature fusion of musical identities to this production of “Loca” by blending the horn-heavy elements of meringue with a synthesis of techno percussions laid out to a dance back beat. “Loca” is Shakira’s interpretation of El Cata’s song “Loca Con Su Tiguere.”
For the “Loca” video, Shakira took to the streets of Barcelona, with Dizzee Rascal and a handheld camera, as the backdrop for “Loca.” In an attempt to capture the true interpretation of the song, Shakira opted to go away from the traditional big production music video to portray a spirited, fun-filled day being ‘loca’ in the streets with the people of Barcelona.

Riding a wave of international acclaim, The Drums are thrilled to share the new “Down By The Water” video which premiered earlier today on Stereogum. Produced by Brian and Brad Palmer of SURROUND and The Drums the video reflects the band’s vision of elegant simplicity. “Both the video and song are a tribute to the girl groups of the 50′s and 60′s, a great inspiration to the band and one of the reasons we started it,” explains the band. A true departure from earlier singles the band slows the tempo showing their versatility with this new track.
Stacked against the summer’s dance-inducing releases, “Down By The Water” is a breath of fresh air. Paring the production down to a slow bass line, light percussion, and a distant synthesizer, the most pronounced instrument is Jonny Pierce’s voice, which opens softly and elevates to a sharp croon. The minimalist production however, does not negate the intensity of the lyrics. “Down By The Water” is a love song. “Everybody’s gotta love someone, but I just want to love you dear… you’ve got to believe me when I say the words forever,” pleads Pierce.
The Drums have been wowing European audiences for the better part of the last year, and now they’re bringing their electrifying live show to North America on a co-headlining tour with Surfer Blood! The band is currently in the midst of a massive worldwide tour and the North American dates are sure to be the most explosive yet! The Green Children have teamed up with Amazon to offer their brand new single, “Dragons,” as a free download. The European duo, known for their blend of ethereal pop with post-modern dance beats, is featured in the Emerging Artist Playlist for the month of September, where fans can download the track free of charge.
“Dragons” has also received an official music video that can now be seen on YouTube! The newly released music video debuted on top tier destination Windows Media Guide and has received close to 100,000 plays in just a matter of days. The story telling music video reflects their nomadic lifestyle as they search through the forest in desperate need of a cure to fight off a unique disease caused by the bite of a dragon.

Black Tide are currently in the studio with renowned producer GGGarth (Atreyu, Chevelle, Mudvayne) recording the follow up to their 2008 critically acclaimed debut, Light From Above. The band has just released two studio updates from the recording sessions that can be seen on their Vevo Channel.
The first clip has drummer Steven Spence tracking drums live in the studio and showing off his “stickless” drumming technique.
The second clip features guitarist Austin Diaz getting tattooed in the studio and also has snippets of the new song “Honest Eyes.”
“Honest Eyes” is featured on Black Tide’s upcoming split-single, along with “Bury Me”. The two new tracks will be released 9/21.

P.O.D., Alien Ant Farm, and Butterscotch are among the artists joining forces for the September 18 Never Again benefit concert in Southern California remembering 17 year-old murder victim Norma Lopez. The concert — which also features performances by Adam Lasher Band, Paloma, Cruz, The Ringleader D.J. Ace and a yet-to-be-announced special guest – runs from noon until 5pm on Saturday, September 18 at Moreno Valley College, with doors opening at 11am.
Tickets will be available for a $10 donation starting on September 3, with proceeds going to the Norma Lopez Benefit Concert Fund both to assist her family with funeral expenses and to contribute to the reward to help law enforcement find and catch her killer or killers. Norma Lopez went missing on July 15, 2010 after attending summer classes at Valley View High School and walking home via a popular neighborhood shortcut. Her body was discovered in a nearby field on July 20.
Norma’s disappearance and murder hit close to home for Alien Ant Farm, who hail from nearby Riverside. “My heart goes out to Norma, her family and friends. I have a daughter and can’t even imagine how Norma’s parents feel,” says Alien Ant Farm drummer Mike Cosgrove. “We have a lot of friends that went to Valley View High School through the years and have used that same shortcut. It’s tragic and frightening.”
Headliners P.O.D. echo that sentiment: “Our hearts go out to the Norma Lopez family. We are deeply saddened and outraged by what’s happened. When we heard about the benefit, we wanted to do our part and help.”
Gary Avila, VP of Artist Development at Tao Music Group, helped put together Never Again along with Tao Creative colleagues Nick Martinez, Dean Blagg, and Richard “Rimo” Moreno. Avila explains, “When I heard that Norma Lopez was missing and then her body was found a week later, it struck a chord in me. Being a parent, I knew that I had to do something to help prevent this from happening again. I mentioned doing a concert to my colleagues at Tao Music Group, they agreed right away, and we met with the mayor of Moreno Valley to get the ball rolling. The response from everyone, from bands to companies, has been amazing and I am so blessed to be a part of this special event.”
Norma’s sister Elizabeth Lopez says, “This concert that is being held to raise awareness and also in the remembrance of my little sister Norma Lopez brings such happiness and honor. Knowing that all the people involved in this project took the time to put all this together on such short notice and yet have never met my sister shows me how much love there really is out in this world. My family and I want to thank you all.”
