Mushroomhead debut at # 44 on Billboard Top 200 selling 11,486 and debuting at # 9 on the Billboard Independent Chart.

Mushroomhead released its new studio album Beautiful Stories For Ugly Children on Sept 28, and although the album is available in all stores, both physical and digital — the band has made a big push into digital by being the first metal band creating an iTunes LP and debuting all content online, including forthcoming viral videos and personalized videos by request of the fans. Traditionally, metal bands sell about 90% physical and don’t embrace the digital experience.

The band spoke with AOL about the new album, tech giant Myspace, ugly people, Lady Gaga, and James LeBron. Catch the great interview:

iTUNES LP features an “easter egg” hunt where the user unlocks content, plus settings the user can customize, exclusive content, and photos.

Far East Movement (also know as FM) members Kev Nish, Prohgress, J-Splif, and DJ Virman will release their debut album ‘Free Wired’ on October 12th through Cherry Tree/Interscope Records.

The album’s lead single “Like A G6″ has been exploding on the country’s sales and radio charts, currently #7 at iTunes and #16 on Billboard’s Hot 100 making FM the first Asian American group to land on the mainstream pop music charts. The song has consistently grown each week since its release and was the #2 most added song at Top 40 radio the week it went for adds in Top 40 markets. Collectively the song and its accompanying music video have received over 7 million YouTube views and 4.5 million MySpace streams. The music video was also the #1 rated music video on MySpace the week it debuted.

FM who rock stylish shades, skinny ties, shiny blazers and fresh kicks have come a long way since they interned in the publicity department of Interscope Records, the label they are now signed to through the Cherry Tree Records imprint, home to artists Lady Gaga, Robyn, La Roux and LMFAO.

The quartet have taken their lifestyle and the current Los Angeles club scene global with ‘Free Wired,’ a movement they coined, that represents everything they do from fashion to technology in addition to describing the music that blends elements of hip-hop, electro and dance.

Multi-platinum recording artists Disturbed have claimed the top spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart with their new release Asylum. The album hit stores on August 27th and sold 179K copies in its first week. This is the fourth consecutive number one release for the band. Katy Perry has cemented her status as a best-selling pop superstar with her second studio album Teenage Dream, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart, scanning 192,222 units in its first week of release. Katy is now one of the top 10 artists with the best-selling debuts of the year and one of only two pop artists to appear on this list. Teenage Dream is the two-time Grammy Award nominee’s highest album chart bow yet. Katy’s debut album, One of the Boys, scanned 46,767 units in its first week.

Katy has now achieved the highest pre-album street date track sales of all time, with 4.4 million digital tracks sold prior to the album’s release — setting a Nielsen Soundscan-era record. 445,746 total tracks were sold during Teenage Dream’s first week of release. In addition, with the Top 5 chart positions of the album’s first two singles, the six-week No. 1 “California Gurls” and “Teenage Dream,” Katy has become one of only ten female artists in history to have two songs in the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time. Currently Katy has 12 songs charting on the Soundscan Current Digital Tracks chart simultaneously including Teenage Dream album tracks “Firework”, “Peacock” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)”.

Katy is a pioneer in the new world order of pop superstardom, where success is measured not just by album sales, but also by sales of digital singles, ringtones, and music videos (clips for both “Teenage Dream” and “California Gurls” have remained in the iTunes Top 10 Music Videos chart for weeks). Measured in “TEA”’s (industry parlance for “track equivalent albums,” in which the sale of 10 digital singles is counted as the sale of one album), Teenage Dream, plus individual tracks sold, totals the equivalent of nearly 720,000 albums sold by the end of Katy’s first week. This follows on the heels of One of the Boys, which has sold five million copies worldwide.

Teenage Dream has easily averted the sophomore slump, with MTV.com opining that it is “the best second effort in pop music history.” USA Today raves that “the ambitious brunette serves up percolating confections laced with saucy humor and disarming earnestness,” while Rolling Stone has called Teenage Dream a “pool-party pop gem.” The New York Post declares Teenage Dream “a total success” that “may have the juice to topple Michael Jackson’s Bad as the U.S. record holder for most singles released from one album.”

Katy co-wrote each of Teenage Dream’s 12 songs, collaborating with a red-hot production team that includes Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Tricky Stewart, Benny Blanco, Greg Wells, and Stargate. Released in May, “California Gurls” spent six weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, shattered BDS and Mediabase weekly airplay spin records, and become the definitive anthem of Summer 2010.

The Santa Barbara, CA-born Katy performed on The Late Show With David Letterman and The Today Show’s Summer Concert Series during Teenage Dream’s release week and recently co-hosted the 2010 Teen Choice Awards with the male cast of Glee. She has appeared on the covers of dozens of publications, including recent issues of Rolling Stone, Seventeen, Q, Billboard, the New York Times’ Arts & Leisure section, and USAToday’s Life section. Singer, songwriter, producer, Mike Posner is currently holding down the #1 position on the iTunes Album Charts with the release of his debut album 31 Minutes to Takeoff (J Records.) With Takeoff having been released TODAY — it looks likely that Posner will continue to dominate the #1 for the foreseeable future.

Critics have been praising Posner and the album, with Rolling Stone saying “Mike Posner is at the head of a new genre…” and praising it’s “…big, club-friendly synth hooks”. Entertainment Weekly called it “…sly, electro-pop…” and USA Today stated it is “…breezily infectious…”

Last week Posner premiered his album on MySpace Music where he is an “Introducing…” artist as well as on SIRIUS XM where it was also announced he will be hosting a weekly SIRIUS XM show, The Mike Posner Show, which debuts September 10 on SIRIUS XM’s Faction, SIRIUS channel 28 and XM channel 52. The show will air Friday nights at 9:00pm ET/6:00pm PT.

In the past week Posner has been seen on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Live! With Regis & Kelly, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and The Wendy Williams Show performing his Top 5 smash single “Cooler Than Me”. Posner has also performed on America’s Got Talent, Lopez Tonight and Last Call With Carson Daly.

Posner will be hitting the road this fall on his first headlining club tour, The Up In The Air Tour, produced by Live Nation and sponsored by Karmaloop.com. The Up In The Air Tour will make 22 stops at premier clubs throughout the country, with shows confirmed through October 15th in Toronto, Canada at the Mod Club.

In mid-May the Los Angeles Times declared “Mike Posner is on a quest to be pop’s next best thing.” This was about a week after Posner opened for Drake at his sold out Nokia Theater show and a mere four days after he walked across the stage in Durham, North Carolina to receive his bachelor’s degree from the prestigious Duke University.

In March of 2009, Posner’s first mixtape A Matter of Time (recorded in his dorm room) rose to the #1 position on iTunesU, promptly garnering him the attention of major labels. After signing a deal with J Records that summer, Posner returned to Duke to finish up his course load, all the while beginning work on his debut album, self-releasing his second free mixtape One Foot Out The Door (featuring collaborations with 3Oh!3, Bun B, Kid Cudi, Wale) through iTunesU and rocking shows every weekend at colleges and festivals across the country.

22 year old Mike Posner hails from Southfield, MI and currently resides in Los Angeles, CA. He graduated from Duke University in May 2010 with a BA in Sociology and Business.

For six-time Grammy Award winning multi-platinum megastar group The Black Eyed Peas – will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo and Fergie – it has been a year to remember. This week, as the Peas’ worldwide 7.33 million-selling #1 album The E.N.D. moves into its 59th week on the Billboard 200 albums chart (still bulleted inside the Top 20 after more than 13 months out), its landmark single “I Gotta Feeling” (released June 2009) becomes the first digital download ever to pass the 6 million threshold.

“It’s incredible to have the Black Eyed Peas put their first album out 12 years ago and evolve into what they are today; it’s a sign of true greatness,” commented Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M. “I just want to take this opportunity to congratulate some people I really care about.”

At the same time this week, The Black Eyed Peas move into the final month of North American concerts on their sold-out 100-date tour: BlackBerry® Presents “The E.N.D. World Tour 2010,” supported by BACARDI® Rum, the official spirit of the tour, and Outspoken by Fergie, the exclusive fragrance by Avon. The tour is already ranked as one of the most successful – if not the most successful – of the year, having grossed $47.7 million (as of the end of June) and drawn 740,000 fans to 54 shows, including 53 sellouts, according to Billboard Boxscore. The tour ends on August 23rd at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta (Canada).

Released June 2009, the Grammy-winning Best Pop Vocal Album The E.N.D. debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with the highest first-week sales of the group’s career (over 300,000). At the time of the album release, “Boom Boom Pow” (which also received a Grammy) was starting its 12-week reign at #1 on the Hot 100 and #1 on the Top Digital Tracks chart, while also topping the UK national chart. “I Gotta Feeling” (also a Grammy winner) debuted at #2 on the Hot 100 in June 2009, marking the first time in five years that any act held the #1-#2 spots with songs from their #1 album, which feat has only occurred less than a dozen times in Billboard history.

“Boom Boom Pow” was supplanted by “I Gotta Feeling,” which then spent a record-breaking 14 weeks at #1. Target launched the single “I Gotta Feeling” in a nationwide television campaign and subsequently CBS used the song to promote their fall 2009 lineup. The Peas’ 26 consecutive weeks at #1 was the longest stay for any act in 51 years of Billboard chart history. Both tracks also held the #1 spot at Top 40 radio for 6 weeks each, and each was eventually certified RIAA 5x-platinum. The streak was extended with the November release of the third single, “Meet Me Halfway,” RIAA double-platinum and the Peas’ next #1 UK hit.

Into early 2010, the fourth single “Imma Be” returned the Black Eyed Peas to #1 on the Hot 100 with a new triple-platinum seller, making them the first group or duo in nearly 20 years to place three #1’s on the Hot 100 from one album. The E.N.D. also became the first album in 23 years to chart three #1’s in the U.S. and three #1’s in the UK (since Madonna’s True Blue in 1986-87). When “Rock That Body,” the fifth single, reached the Top 10, The E.N.D. became the first album by a group or duo in 20 years to spin off a quintet of Top 10 hits.

To date, as the YouTube video numbers continue to pile on, “Boom Boom Pow” has over 64.7 million views, “I Gotta Feeling” over 36.6 million, “Meet Me Halfway” over 31.6 million, and “Imma Be/Rocking That Body” over 22.4 million. The Black Eyed Peas have sold over 27 million combined units worldwide, led by sales of The E.N.D. – double-platinum in the U.S., France and Australia; platinum in the UK; triple platinum in Canada; and gold in more than 15 other countries. Total digital single sales in the U.S. alone are over 18 million.

Eminem’s Recovery will come in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week with a staggering 741,000 sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. That’s the largest sales week for a single album since October 2008, when AC/DC sold 784,000 with Black Ice in its first week.

It’s been 13 years but it seems that a new Pearl Jam album will debut at #1 on next week’s Billboard 200 chart with Backspacer (Buy on iTunes/Amazon). Released on Sunday on CD exclusively in Target stores and indepedent retailers, Backspacer is estimated to sell anywhere between 175,000 to 200,000 copies by week’s end. Backspacer is Pearl Jam’s first album to be released without a major label (after years of being on Epic and J Records). The band’s last studio album, Pearl Jam (J Records) debuted at #2 on the charts with 279,000 first week sales. Pearl Jam’s previous album to debut at #1 was 1996′s No Code.

After just one day on the market Brand New’s album, Daisy, is sitting pretty towards the top of the iTunes charts at number 4. While chart position may not be of the utmost importance to a band like Brand New, it is a testament to the quality of the album they’ve produced for the world to hear. With each album review a new comparison is made between Brand New and the likes of Modest Mouse, Radiohead, The Jesus Lizard, My Bloody Valentine and a slew of other ’90s alternative and indie rock icons. The reality of Daisy is that, “the remnants of pop-punk have dissipated” (StrangeGlue.com) and fans are left with what Slant Magazine called, “an ambitious leftfield stunner” and an an album that “explodes without warning” (SPIN).
