Despite what some of you may say, EVERYONE loves a KISS song. One of our favorite New Jersey rock bands, The Static Jacks, recorded a cover of the legendary band’s “I Was Made For Loving You” for their fans as an early Halloween present (yes, we’re totally down with Halloween presents and we want one from you too). Check out the song below and download it for free! Stay tuned to www.thestaticjacks.com for updates on the band’s new LP due out sometime in 2013.

Amanda Palmer & The Grand Theft Orchestra will release Theater Is Evil, September 11 on Palmer’s own 8ft. records. Offering another taste of the forthcoming album, the band has released “The Killing Type,” a brutal love song lead by a thrumming baseline and Palmer’s signature storytelling lyrics, which build to a frantic climax. Download “The Killing Type” MP3 HERE.

Amanda Palmer and her band are currently hard at work developing their live stage show, which will be chock full of surprises when the band hits the road for their 35-date international tour kicking off this fall.

Developing new interactive technologies with a variety of collaborators, the band plans to crowd-source everything from musicians to family photos and other personal artifacts, placing the audience members’ voices and bodies directly into the performance. Producer, production designer, and theatrical director for the THEATRE IS EVIL tour as well as the band’s drummer, Michael McQuilken explains: “I find Amanda’s hyper-inclusive relationship with her audience to be hugely inspiring. Her fans aren’t distant observers, they’re family. So I’ve been working on ways to make the fans and their contributions the primary motivation for all of our production decisions. Each new audience will have an experience unique to them. You’ll have to come to the show to find out more.”

From book swaps in bathrooms to an orchestra of local strings and horns sourced through the internet, Palmer is excited to take on the challenge. “It’s Rocky-Horror-meets-Scavenger-Hunt-meets-Interactive-Art-Happening… just my cup of tea,” she explains. “It’ll take a ton of work to rehearse a whole new set of folks every afternoon, but it’s a great way to feel connected to the city we’re in.”

This tour will be the first opportunity for audiences to experience Amanda Palmer live with her new band, The Grand Theft Orchestra. “Everyone in the band has a super-power on stage,” says Palmer. “Our drummer is a director, our guitarist is a sound designer and a horn arranger, and our bassist is a classical conductor. And we’re ALL theater geeks, so the whole band is like a massive transformer robot that can be a slamming rock band and also be an emotional avant-garde musical.”

Don’t miss the chance to catch this one-of-a-kind show live this fall!

Cardiff, Wales-based septet, Los Campesinos! have posted a brand new song – their first since the release of last year’s album Hello Sadness (Arts & Crafts) – on their website for free. The song, entitled “Tiptoe Through The True Bits,” is available to download free by clicking HERE. “Tiptoe Through The True Bits” was a song recorded at the same time as Hello Sadness, but never found a home on the album. Says the band, “’Tiptoe Through The True Bits’ acts as an appropriate bookend to what happens within Hello Sadness, both musically and personally.”

As previously announced, Los Campesinos! will return to the U.S. this June in support of Hello Sadness. Tickets for these shows are on sale now. Yellow Ostrich will support the band on all of their U.S. dates.

Live, Los Campesinos! are revelatory. The seven-piece is simply larger-than-life when they take the stage, oozing punk rock energy and encouraging cathartic sing-alongs. The songs from Hello Sadness sound bigger and bolder than their recorded counterparts; indeed, when at a Los Campesinos! show, sadness has never sounded so damn good.

ENTER SHIKARI’s “Live In London NW5″ is a free, download only, live EP featuring five tracks recorded at a special intimate London show in Feb 2012.
The show itself was filmed and recorded for television broadcast, and low-quality audio rips have naturally found themselves floating round the internets in recent weeks, so a plan was hatched to put out some nice 320kbps MP3 all nicely artworked-up and lovely.

The tracks themselves can be downloaded from : www.entershikari.com/downloads
While multi-camera footage from the show can be found at : www.entershikari.com/live-vids-from-tiny-london-show/

Enter Shikari have this week returned from North America, where they not only undertook a largely sold out, six week long, headline tour, but also filmed a video for forthcoming single “Warm Smiles Do Not Make You Welcome Here”, which is currently in the editing process under the watchful eye of director Raul Gonzo (who was also responsible for January’s “Arguing With Thermometers” video). “Warm Smiles…” will be released in July as a special remix package… but well have more news on that as we approach the time.

The band will rest for a handful of days before being bundled into a tour bus to spend the summer beating the living daylights out of summer festivals across Europe and the UK, including a high profile main stage slot at this year’s Reading / Leeds festivals.
