The Drums’ Arcade Fire “We Used To Wait” Cover MP3

Riding a wave of international acclaim, The Drums are thrilled to share the new “Down By The Water” video which premiered earlier today on Stereogum. Produced by Brian and Brad Palmer of SURROUND and The Drums the video reflects the band’s vision of elegant simplicity. “Both the video and song are a tribute to the girl groups of the 50′s and 60′s, a great inspiration to the band and one of the reasons we started it,” explains the band. A true departure from earlier singles the band slows the tempo showing their versatility with this new track.

Stacked against the summer’s dance-inducing releases, “Down By The Water” is a breath of fresh air. Paring the production down to a slow bass line, light percussion, and a distant synthesizer, the most pronounced instrument is Jonny Pierce’s voice, which opens softly and elevates to a sharp croon. The minimalist production however, does not negate the intensity of the lyrics. “Down By The Water” is a love song. “Everybody’s gotta love someone, but I just want to love you dear… you’ve got to believe me when I say the words forever,” pleads Pierce.

The Drums have been wowing European audiences for the better part of the last year, and now they’re bringing their electrifying live show to North America on a co-headlining tour with Surfer Blood! The band is currently in the midst of a massive worldwide tour and the North American dates are sure to be the most explosive yet! The album is out now digitally in the US and will be available in stores September 14th.

The Green Children Offer “Dragons” As Free Download

The Green Children have teamed up with Amazon to offer their brand new single, “Dragons,” as a free download. The European duo, known for their blend of ethereal pop with post-modern dance beats, is featured in the Emerging Artist Playlist for the month of September, where fans can download the track free of charge.

“Dragons” has also received an official music video that can now be seen on YouTube! The newly released music video debuted on top tier destination Windows Media Guide and has received close to 100,000 plays in just a matter of days. The story telling music video reflects their nomadic lifestyle as they search through the forest in desperate need of a cure to fight off a unique disease caused by the bite of a dragon.

The band’s debut release “Dragons” has attracted a number of world renowned DJ’s including Paul Oakenfold and Digital Dog, who have both put their special touches on the upbeat track. “Dragons” will appear on the band’s debut release, Encounter, influenced by a number of musical genres ranging from underground electronica to alt-rock and classic pop, available everywhere October 12.

Oholics: Psyched-Out Swedes Soar On Graceful LP Disgraceland

Despite the title, Swedish Soundtrack Of Our Lives disciples Oholics exhibit plenty of grace on the soaring, psych-twinged Disgraceland,which saw its US release on August 24th. Fusing the rawboned intensity of early Stones with a grab bag of Barrett-era Floyd theatrics, the Gothenburg six-piece create lush and experimental pop across eleven gorgeous tracks on their self-released debut. Produced by Soundtrack braintrust Ebbot Lundberg, the album also calls to mind contemporaries like the debonair downtowners The Strokes and the reinvigorated Scots of Primal Scream.

With a dizzying array of instrumentation that includes everything from a space box and sitar to trusty keys and six-strings, Oholics impress on tracks like the woozy, laser light show of “Lose It,” available for download below. And with slack-jawed raves already pouring in about their recent NXNE stint, these guys are exactly one world tour away from what the Metro in Sweden already predicts: “world domination.”

Honda Civic Tour Update, Free Paramore “Careful” MP3!

As the summer draws to an end, we’re reminded of kids going back to school, new cars being rolled out and cooler weather. Fortunately, the Honda Civic Tour continues for almost three more weeks! Tonight, the tour comes to the Arena at Gwinnet Center in Atlanta, GA.

This past week has featured almost daily videos of the behind the scenes antics of tour headliner Paramore just hanging out and answering fan questions. BAD BOOKS SHARES MORE MUSIC AND NEW ALBUM ART, TICKETS TO LIMITED NUMBER OF SHOWS ON SALE TODAY

A little more than a week after officially announcing their self-titled debut album, Bad Books (the new project from Kevin Devine and Manchester Orchestra) responds to the tremendous fan support by giving away a free download of “You Wouldn’t Have To Ask” and offering a stream of the previously unheard “Please Move” on their Facebook page. Bad Books will see its release October 19th via Favorite Gentlemen, the record label that was founded and has been run by Manchester Orchestra since 2007.

As songwriters go, Hull and Devine could not be further apart in terms of creative approach. The methodical wordsmith Devine, an English major from Fordham, is known to pine away for great lengths of time just to accurately pin-point one word within a lyric. “I was doing a take of ‘You’re A Mirror I Cannot Avoid’ and stopped myself for fifteen minutes because I was having trouble justifying ending two lines in the same chorus with the word ‘back.’ Just sitting there, staring at the screen, writing different word choices. I asked Andy if he thought it mattered, and he said, ‘Of course it doesn’t.’ Somewhere in that exchange is I think what differentiates us as songwriters. I think Andy trusts his instincts to lead him to the right place in a song, and sometimes I want to outthink my instincts because I’m scared of repeating myself, of resting on my laurels. And I think together, those two approaches meshed really, really well,” Devine said.

Hull echoes that sentiment: “Kevin is very meticulous, where I came in with a few ideas and fleshed them out literally as we were recording. Kevin’s songs were awesome and he was cool enough for me to throw in some ideas to change a part or add a bridge here or there.”

THE ENVY has just released their debut EP titled Don’t Let Go on Simmons Records/Universal Music. The five-song sampler, only available at shows on their summer tour, digitally on iTunes and the bands official website: www.TheEnvyMusic.com, features the band’s debut single “Don’t Let Go,” three additional songs from their forthcoming debut album and a bonus EP-only, non-album track. The band is currently offering a free download of “Don’t Let Go” on their official website and is on tour supporting legendary, musical icon KISS on “The Hottest Show on Earth” 2010 North American summer tour through September.

Formed in 2009, THE ENVY is Shaun Frank (vox), VØID (guitars), Jonny (keys), Bodan (bass) and Izzy (drums). Drawing comparisons in sound to Foo Fighters, U2 and The Killers, THE ENVY honed their songwriting and infectious live performance on the road, before entering the studio with multi-platinum producer Gavin Brown (Metric, Three Days Grace) earlier this year to record their debut album. Soon after, Gene Simmons who had seen the band play and recognized their potential, signed them as the first artist to his new Simmons Records label. Currently the band is on tour through September with KISS as the final mixes are being completed on their debut full-length album by Grammy award-winning mixer David Bottrill (Peter Gabriel, Muse, Tool, AFI) and highly the sought after Randy Staub (Metallica, Nicelback, Bon Jovi).

Six-String is a fun, innovative music game that offers a realistic guitar experience that lets fans play lead guitar on their favorite songs.
