Have you ever heard a song all over the place, sung along to it but didn’t know who it was by until someone told you and you said “OHHH I KNOW THAT SONG! I LOVE THAT SONG!” That recently happened to us with Kid Savant and their single “4 Years.” We typically don’t love indie-electronic but we LOVE Kid Savant!

We want to share our love of the band’s music with you. Stream and download “4 Years” below and check out the video! After you’re done, check out some really cool photos of the band’s set at New York City’s Irving Plaza from Monday night thanks to Patrick Eves (HippieDeathBed.com)

They say good things come in threes: hot on the heels of the news we brought you last week about the release of the new Los Campesinos! album, Hello Sadness, we have more Los Campesinos! info to share with you now.

The first mp3 from Hello Sadness, a song called “By Your Hand,” is up for free download now via the band’s website – check it out HERE. Los Campesinos! are also thrilled to announce their Stateside return for a few select shows this November around Hello Sadness’s release on November 15th on Arts & Crafts.

“By Your Hand” is the opening track of Hello Sadness, and deals with the eschatology of a relationship. The End Of Days as rose-tinted spectacles de-mist and love ends, but lust writhes on unabashedly. It’s got a massive chorus, too. We love it.

A video for “By Your Hand” will also premiere today on the band’s fantastically entertaining blog – http://www.loscampesinos.com/blog

And those tour dates….
16 November – New York (NY), Bowery Ballroom
17 November – Brooklyn (NY), Music Hall Of Williamsburg
18 November – Philadelphia (PA), Union Transfer
19 November – Washington DC, Black Cat

As well as the usual outlets, tickets can be bought (cheaper!) direct from the band from their online store: http://www.loscampesinos.com/store
AND – pre-order Hello Sadness here! – http://www.galleryac.com/los-campesinos-hello-sadness.html

Everyone going back to school in September should watch this video!

The “Make It Stop (September’s Children)” video is nominated in MTV’s first ever pro-social category for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards: “Best Video With A Message.” Other nominees in this category include Lady Gaga, P!nk, Katy Perry, Eminem featuring Rihanna and Taylor Swift. Partisan Records is excited to announce the release of Deer Tick’s new record, Divine Providence. Set to be released on October 25, 2011, Divine Providence was produced by the band along with Adam Landry and Justin Collins, who were also at the helm for lead singer, main songwriter John McCauley’s highly acclaimed side project, Middle Brother. Deer Tick’s live shows and McCauley’s overall stage aesthetic fueled his desire to create the raw and spontaneous kerosene blaze that is Divine Providence. While the break-neck speed and damn-it-all fury could give one the sense that it all may fall apart in an instant, Deer Tick never loses sight of the song. It is insanity, but there’s obviously a plan in place.

“After so many years of critics praising [and making fun of] us for our ‘folk’ and ‘country’ sounds, and hardly ever mentioning the fact that we’ve also recorded virtually dozens of other kinds of music, we wanted to make a record that was truer to our live set: raw, loud, heartfelt, and completely uninterested in whatever the hell the rest of the music industry is up to,” says McCauley. “The results are unlike anything you’ve heard on a Deer Tick album.”

Divine Providence is the Rhode Island quintet’s fourth album in just five years, and is the first one the band has recorded in their home state. It’s a follow-up to their fantastic Black Dirt Sessions, that New York magazine called “flat-out great,” and inspired the Late Show with David Letterman to give the band its network television debut. The new record features for the first time lead vocal turns on a couple of songs by guitarist Ian O’Neil and drummer Dennis Ryan.

“Man, you can practically smell the sweat and the beer! Shit, you may even hear a guitar or two break somewhere in there!,” continues McCauley. “It’s got a little Exile, it’s got a little In Utero, it’s got a little Nilsson Schmilsson, but it’s 100% Deer-Fucking-Tick in our purest, and most carefree form.”

You can download the first song from Divine Providence here. The track is called “Miss K.”

Deer Tick are:

John McCauley – guitar, vocals
Ian O’Neil – guitar, vocals
Chris Ryan – bass, vocals
Rob Crowell – keys, saxophone, vocals
Dennis Ryan – drums, vocals

The tracklisting for Divine Providence is:

The Bump
Funny Word
Let’s All Go to the Bar
Clownin’ Around
Main Street
Chevy Express
Something to Brag About
Walkin Out the Door
Make Believe
Now It’s Your Turn

Com Truise is New Jersey designer/musician Seth Haley. His songs tap classic sci-fi and proto-electro in a way that is distinctly early eighties in scope, but they’re also remarkably psychedelic and ominous as if they were surrounded by dark matter. After his well-received Cyanide Sisters EP, the recently released “Fairlight” single, a grip of remixes for artists like Twin Shadow, Neon Indian, Daft Punk, and a few floating MP3s, Truise’s first LP, Galactic Melt, has already entered our chambers to critical acclaim This fall, Truise is bringing his live show back on the road w/ Active Child and Neon Indian as well.

“ETHER DRIFT” MP3

Haley envisioned Galactic Melt as a “sort of film score…from the mind,” chronicling the lift and death of Com Truise, the world’s first synthetic/robotic astronaut, from his creation and life on earth to his subsequent mission to a newly discovered galaxy called “Wave 1.” Eventually, Truise becomes one with his newfound cosmos, like Pinocchio becoming a real boy, but in the nether regions of imaginary space. An admitted synth obsessive, Com Truise is the maker of an experimental and bottom heavy style he calls “mid-fi synth-wave, slow-motion funk”.

While subliminally informed by both parental record collections and hints of faded electronics product design, Haley’s Com Truise project isn’t just nostalgia capitalization. There are fragments (read: DNA strands) of Joy Division, New Order, and the Cocteau Twins, but it’s like you’re hearing them through the motherboard of a waterlogged Xbox-demented and modern. He’s recently remixed Neon Indian, Twin Shadow and most fittingly Daft Punk’s Tron Soundtrack.

He’s got a way of making familiar things sound beautifully hand-smeared. It’s a world unto itself, a sci-fi cosmopolitan of sorts, and a look into digital evolution of the mind. In support of Galactic Melt, Com Truise will be on tour in North America supporting Active Child & Neon Indian in the fall of 2011, with a special one-off showcase of the Ghostly International label at Bumbershoot Music Festival. It will be available from all other digital retailers starting September 6th and the physical CD will be released on September 27, 2011.

Spin.com premiered the video for “Get It Daddy” yesterday HERE. Early champions of the band, Spin.com, hailed back in March that the band “are about to be something massive” and that their “playful Southern-fried, boy-vs.-girl power pop is instantly loveable.” The video for “Get It Daddy” was directed by Ryan Reichenfeld and shot in Nashville, TN last month. Reichenfeld is most noted for his clips ranging from Steve Martin to rapper Pusha T.

Hailing from Bowling Green, KY, Sleeper Agent is Tony “Tutone” Smith (Guitar, Vocals), Alex “Kidd” Kandel (Vocals), Justin “Keyser” Wilson (Drums), Josh “Junior” Martin (Guitar), Scott “Saga” Gardner (Keyboard, Synths) and Lee “Grizzlee” Williams (Bass). The band describes their music as akin to “The Ronettes on speed,” and make hook-laden scuzzy garage-pop rooted in both soul and Southern rock. The band has spent the year winning over audiences while touring with Cage the Elephant, Biffy Clyro, Manchester Orchestra and more. Sleeper Agent will perform at the DeLuna Fest on October 14th, tour with Circa Survive from October 16th-26th and embark on the Weezer Cruise January 19-23, 2012. Like her namesake, Novi is a new artist that is on a fast-track to stardom. Her first EP, Now I’m Here, set to be released for Fall of 2011, is sure to spark an immediate following from listeners throughout the music spectrum.

She comes to the scene with an original, distinct sound that is eclectic enough to hit the chords of any music lover in the galaxy. The smooth, electro-pop sounds that emanate from the speakers are a compulsive rise and fall of beats on every track that capture listeners, hook, line, and sinker.

With looping skills envious of Imogen Heap, and lyrics that send second guesses straight into the back of your mind (“I had bar flies sipping on my Motherf#*king drink”) you’ll have Novi “peddling back” through your mind all day. (Don’t worry. It’s a good thing.)

Starting with Now I’m Here, the self-titled track of the EP with the same name, is a slow psychedelic beat. With miscellaneous sounds strewn about in the background that only add to the thrill of listening to Novi for the first time. Her album follows the pattern of most of her tracks. They rise in tempo, and then drop back down, like an EKG of what your heart looks like as you listen. Same Old Song, the fourth track on her EP, captures the idea of Novi completely. The slow beat in the background, with different sounds intermittent between a steady beat, gives way to her lyrics, “I’m tired of the same old song, tearin’ me up at the end of the day,” which suddenly leads in to a fast-paced, hard-hitting female rap solo, all done by Novi.

Her cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s Scarborough Fair, not only does the song justice, but also gives the lyrics new meaning with her haunting intro that starts off with three short stagnant pauses. Barely recognized until they’re over, the pauses are the epitome of Novi’s music. You don’t know what hit you until it’s already over.

Novi is currently rehearsing for regional shows with “Blackbirds” as the first single to mark her arrival onto the music scene. Meanwhile, a full EP is tentatively slated for a Fall 2011 release. More music from Novi can be found on various web sites and social networking sites such as Reverb Nation, Facebook, and Soundcloud. You can visit the official Novi website at www.iamnovi.com for music and news.
