Nirvana biographer Michael Azerrad Interview

September 30, 2008 drainu182 0

Jim Shearer over at IFC interviewed famed music author/journalist Michael Azerrad a few weeks ago. Azerrad wrote probably the best Nirvana biography Come As You Are back when Kurt Cobain was still alive. Shearer asks Azerrad about making About A Son (the Kurt Cobain movie that came out last year), how Kurt was as a father, how he’d react to blogs and the music scene nowadays. It’s quite good stuff. Read all about it here. …

September 30, 2008 drainu182 0

It’s a slow morning for The Perv today which means that it was a crazy night last night for The Perv. Let’s start things out this morning with a funny little video of Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters giving “hit lessons” to Kyle Gass from Tenacious D. It has some swearing in it so it may be a little NSFW. Just remember one thing “Don’t Bore Us, Get To The Chorus!”

Josh Todd of Buckcherry talks about his favorite albums and taking Viagra

September 29, 2008 drainu182 0

Buckcherry’s new album “Black Butterfly” debuted in the top 10 last week despite a boring gimmicky lead single “Too Drunk…”. Recently, Josh Todd, the lead singer, sat down with Penthouse to talk about taking Viagra and how it gave him some less than desirable results. Josh also spoke with IGN (don’t they review video games or something?) about his top 10 favorite albums of all time. AC/DC Back in Black and GNR’s Appetite for Destruction are unsurprisingly on the list.…

September 29, 2008 drainu182 0

You’ll hear Tom Petty, Interpol, Vampire Weekend, STP and Nirvana in an hour. They don’t seem to play the same songs over and over and they don’t really have a consistent playlist of songs but more of artists. They also have famed DJ/A&R man/music afficionado Matt Pinfield …

September 20, 2008 drainu182 0

Kele Okereke of Bloc Party recently commented about bands giving away their music for free and how Bloc Party wont really be a part of it.

“We don’t live in a world where things are given to people for free… Radiohead were in a very specific position – they didn’t have a record deal and they could do what they wanted”.

Kele said this on their radio program on Xfm in England. They’ve been running a residency and you can …

Joe Satriani: My band’s name (Chickenfoot) sucks

September 16, 2008 drainu182 8

MusicRadar interviewed Joe Satriani recently about his new group with Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers and former Van Halen members Sammy Hagar(Mas Tequila!) and Michael Anthony(Mas Whiskey?) called Chickenfoot. Satriani claims that the band sounds like early Zeppelin (Why do people do this? Didn’t early Zeppelin suck just like early Nirvana, early Metallica, early Jonas Brothers etc. They were just learning to play their instruments!) and that the band will be changing their name soon (Good …
