Minus The Bear has premiered their new track “Lonely Gun” on The song, which Rolling Stone exclaimed “packs a punch with charging, acrobatic-sounding guitars woven through a pop-friendly chorus, is from the band’s forthcoming album, Infinity Overhead, due August 28 on Dangerbird Records.

“Lonely Gun,” as singer/guitarist Jake Snider remarks, “came out of a deep depression. I was thinking about how lonely an unused gun must be, its purpose unfulfilled, like a loveless relationship. The only way to allow its purpose is to hold it – to use it.”

For the Seattle-based band’s fifth record, they reunited with longtime producer and former founding member Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Isis, Cursive). The LP is a guitar-laden 10-track album that is as heavy on the band’s trademark technicality as it is on pop songcraft.

Last week, Minus The Bear gave the first glimpse into Infinity Ovehead with an album trailer. The teaser video, featuring the new track “Diamond Lightning” can be seen below:

OCEANIA is the forthcoming album by THE SMASHING PUMPKINS. Intended to recapture the album experience, all 13 songs on OCEANIA will be premiered simultaneously to fans, radio, press and the online world. Forgoing the standard industry launch, the group purposely planned no single or video to be released prior to the full album.

Starting now, Monday, June 11, OCEANIA will be streamed for free in its entirety for one week exclusively on the iTunes Store ( Fans will be able to pre-order the album all week leading up to the June 19 in-store date. OCEANIA was specially mastered to optimize digital sound quality for iTunes Store customers. The release comes via the band’s own Martha’s Music/EMI Label Services/Caroline Distribution. Listen to OCEANIA here:

Having his own label through EMI afforded PUMPKINS leader BILLY CORGAN the opportunity to try something different. It is a launch scenario that goes against industry standards by allowing the album to be heard as it was meant to be. The group’s release plan was in no way intended to slight radio stations, video channels, press or online outlets. Instead, it represents the artistic vision of a band who, says CORGAN, “was dead set on making an album where every song was just as valuable as any other, ignoring the typical claptrap you hear about needing a single. The only way to make the case that every song on Oceania is worth hearing is to put your heart into the sequence as a cohesive whole.”

OCEANIA was recorded at the group’s studio in Chicago with CORGAN’s bandmates: guitarist JEFF SCHROEDER, drummer MIKE BYRNE and bassist/vocalist NICOLE FIORENTINO. The powerful 13-song collection (see track listing below) was produced by Corgan and Bjorn Thorsrud and mixed by David Bottrill (Muse, Tool, King Crimson, etc). Marking THE SMASHING PUMPKINS’ 7th studio record, it is “an album within an album,” part of their 44-song work-in-progress TEARGARDEN BY KALEIDYSCOPE.

“I’ve been adamant in stressing that as a group, first and foremost, we are here to make new music together,” says CORGAN. “I’m proud to say that on Oceania I feel we’ve cut our own path forward. Jeff, Mike, and Nicole have all made significant contributions to the tone and texture of Oceania, which is an album that is unlike any I’ve ever made. Yet at the same time I believe it upholds the same musical values I’ve always pushed for with The Pumpkins, be they progressive, emotional, epic, or restless.”

Here’s the OCEANIA track listing:

The Celestials
Violet Rays
My Love is Winter
One Diamond, One Heart
Pale Horse
The Chimera

THE SMASHING PUMPKINS have created one of the most acclaimed bodies of work in musical history having sold more than 30 million albums, and won multiple Grammy awards in the process. Formed in Chicago in 1988, they released Gish, their influential and platinum debut in 1991, which was followed by albums including the nine-time platinum Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness and the four-time platinum Siamese Dream, as well as the platinum certified 1998 album Adore. The pivotal group’s many hits defined the alternative music era and continue to resonate on modern rock radio, influencing a whole new generation. The PUMPKINS returned in 2007 with their acclaimed sixth album Zeitgeist. They have since remained on the cutting edge of music and technology with various online releases.

A Place To Bury Strangers have premiered the second single off their new album, Worship. The song is “And I’m Up” and premiered at Consequence of Sound today. On “And I’m Up,” Strangers apply their fuzzy filter to a song the grows out of a more straightforward pop sensibility. It’s something singer Oliver Ackermann calls “that classic 50′s vibe our parents grew up loving oh so much and then cramming down our throats through subliminal early life listening.”

Listen below:

The track starts off with a heavy back beat courtesy of longtime friend Cyrus Lubin, drummer for The Immaculates and head of Famous Class Records. Ackermann’s melancholy vocals counter the walking bass line and chaotic guitar sounds, darkly proclaiming, “Either way I choose the choice is wrong / so I’ll choose wrong / always choose wrong.” The track’s upbeat sounds and moody lyrics combine to create what might be APTBS’s most approachable song of the bunch on their forthcoming album Worship.

A Place To Bury Strangers is touring throughout June with This Will Destroy You and has just announced new show dates for July. These new dates include a headlining record release show at Music Hall of Williamsburg (the band’s home turf) on Friday, July 27. The band will also appear at the Metallica-curated Orion Music & More festival on June 24 in Atlantic City, NJ.

Worship, A Place To Bury Stranger’s third album, will be released June 26 (June 11 UK) on Dead Oceans and is currently available for pre-order through SC Distribution. All pre-orders come with an early download on June 11. Along with the CD and LP (on “Blue Death” colored vinyl) versions of Worship, there is also deluxe bundle offer that includes entry to win a Death By Audio ‘Fuzz War’ effects pedal handmade by Ackermann.

Matisyahu blasts off yet again with Spark Seeker (out July 17th), a bold new studio album that finds the one-of-a-kind vocalist and songwriter exploring uncharted territory with help from an expansive cast of collaborators, including Shyne. “My musical tastes are all over the board,” he says in reference to a record that mixes ancient traditional sounds with futuristic electro beats, rapping with singing, songs of the spirit with songs of the body. “And, besides, my music has never been about the outer garment. It’s about searching out inspiration wherever it lies. This album is about seeking that spark within.”

Having brought the house down at their sold out Alexandra Palace homecoming gig last month, Bombay Bicycle Club are proud to announce the release of ‘Beg’, which is to be the last single released from ‘A Different Kind of Fix’, on July 9th.

The release of ‘Beg’ as a single is unique in that the song wasn’t actually featured on the original physical version of the album but as a bonus track on the digital album release. The band recently added the song to their live set and had an amazing response from fans, so decided to release it as their final single from this campaign. The news also comes after their recently announced and hotly tipped appearance at the BBC Hackney Weekend towards the end of June.

‘Beg’ was Zane’s Hottest Record last night on R1. You can listen to the track on the following official YouTube link:

To celebrate the release of ‘Beg’ as the final single from the album, the band commissioned a remix by the American superstar disco production guru, Tom Moulton. The world-renowned record producer, whose previous collaborations include disco giants Gloria Gaynor and Grace Jones is known as the ‘King of Disco’. Moulton is widely credited as being the producer who invented the ‘Disco Mix’.

2012 has already been a whirlwind year for the quartet North London band who on top of selling out one of the biggest venues in London have: toured Australia with Elbow, been nominated for three NME awards and embarked on a headline tour across North America with two more trips across the pond scheduled for later this year.

Brooklyn-based quartet Beast Make Bomb have released a new single “Dream Boat,” which was premiered today on MTV Hive. The track follows the band’s previous two self-released EPs Sourpuss (2011) and Skinny Legs (2010), and marks the first of a series of singles that Beast Make Bomb plan to release this year.

As MTV Hive’s Dan Solomon states, “‘Dream Boat’ is the sort of rock song that never goes out of style. Built on a timeless, just-won’t-quit guitar riff, this track would sound just as at home on a ’90s alt-rock radio station as it does on whatever playlist you’ve made of the sounds of summer 2012 — and that’s just how the band likes it.”

Formed as NYU students in 2009, Beast Make Bomb have toured the country in support of several acts, including Cold War Kids, Tokyo Police Club, and The Whigs. The band was also featured at Rolling Stone Magazine’s 2011 SXSW showcase, sharing the stage with Queens of the Stone Age. The group is gearing up to play a string of dates in the New York-Boston area, see additional tour details below.
