So I’m watching tonight’s MTV VMAs (along with flipping to the football game, baseball game and anything else that my ADD mind will find appealing) and there’s been a Michael Jackson tribute, Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video and Taylor Swift performing in the subway.

Beyonce just performed and it seemed like it took forever. Green Day sounded pretty good. Just the mention of Kanye’s name is causing boos and starting “Taylor” chants. Nice haha.

Oh hell yeah, MUSE ROCKED!

Pink, Jay-Z with Alicia Keys and Taylor Swift got to finally give her speech. Check out the videos below:

Last week, Wolfmother played a secret show at the Roxy in Los Angeles for Yahoo Music. The band played mostly new material off of their upcoming album Cosmic Egg due out on October 13th. Songs from the set included “Back Round”, “Cosmic Egg”, “Woman”, “In the Morning”, “California Queen”, “New Moon Rising”, and “White Unicorn”. For more on the show, go here. The Audio Perv had the chance to catch Nine Inch Nails at Terminal 5 last night for the 3rd NYC show of NIN’s Wave Goodbye Tour. The Horrors opened and they were respectable but kind of forgettable. It was hot, sweaty and packed. NIN came on at around 9:05 and played for about 140 minutes. Peter Murphy from Bauhaus (BLAH!) was introduced by Trent Reznor as the guy who first took NIN on board into NYC many years ago. Murphy kind of scares us and his voice is as appealing as sitting on a pool cue. Anyways, we were in the back but managed to take a few photos and videos. Check ‘em out:

Green Day played another packed show at Madison Square Garden in New York City tonight (7/28). They played for about 2 hours and 50 minutes, which was longer than the previous night’s performance at the same venue. We weren’t there for the first show but we do know that this one was filled with industry booking people like superagent Nick Storch. Anyways, the band played less than half of their new album 21st Century Breakdown(iTunes) leaving off what could’ve been crowd pleasing anthems like “Horseshoes & Handgrenades” and “Peacemaker.” The band did however play a healthy dose of classic hits off of Dookie(iTunes), Nimrod(iTunes), and American Idiot(iTunes). The show even featured crowd surfing by older fans (early 30s-ish) and performances by fans invited onstage. One female fan invited to play guitar took the opportunity to kiss lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong (the cops are checking her ID to see if she’s legal, jk). We don’t have the official setlist but we definitely remember the band playing “She”, “Welcome to Paradise”, “Brain Stew”, “Hitchin a Ride”, “Good Riddance”, “Jesus of Suburbia”, “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”, “21 Guns”, “Know Your Enemy”, “Shout/Earth Angel”, an Operation Ivy song, “American Idiot”, “Macys Day Parade” and “Holiday.” Feel free to update the rest in the comments section (really tired right now). Like we said, we weren’t at the first night but we agree with Billie Joe when he said “the second night is always better!” Right on Billie Joe, enjoy the multitude of pics below the setlist or GO HERE.

There was a cool eerie feeling at the Fillmore New York Irving Plaza last night. It felt like the late 90s/early 00s again as Our Lady Peace returned to New York City for their first full band show in nearly four years. The band played to a sold out crowd as it ripped through a set of about sixteen songs with a good mix of the tracks for the just released Burn Burn and the classic Our Lady Peace songs we’ve all grown to love. After heavily crowd-sung versions of hits “Clumsy” and “4am”, lead singer Raine Maida declared that specific instance as one of the “ten best moments” in Our Lady Peace’s history. Maida was amazed at how enthusiastic the crowd was at several points especially with fans immediately recognizing hits like “Is Anybody Home?” off of the first guitar chord strummed in the song. He even remarked that the band had gone far too long without playing NYC. Maida was spot on throughout the set and was pleasantly surprising as he did not abandon his infamous falsetto vocals on some of the songs live as he had done on previous tours. The new material was very well received especially tracks “Monkey Brains,” “Paper Moon,” and the first single off of Burn Burn, “All You Did Was Save My Life.” On the latter song, Maida climbed on top of a speaker on the side of the stage and up onto the railing of the second level of Irving Plaza where he proceeded to shake hands with fans, grab a fan’s camera and tape the crowd and start the last chorus before returning to the stage. Guitarist Steve Mazur and bassist Duncan Coutts were solid all night long and played with the same high energy enthusiasm all night long and it was great to see Jeremy Taggert behind the skins rocking out just as hard as he did when The Audio Perv first saw OLP back at Hammerstein Ballroom back in 1998 (wow.. I feel old). The lone complaints about the show is that it didn’t last longer (Hey, we waited four years for OLP to come back to NYC, give us more than 75 minutes!) and that more songs from the highly underrated concept album Spiritual Machines weren’t included. Judging from the crowd’s reaction to the show, however, Raine Maida and Our Lady Peace will be sure to not to disappear from NYC for very long. Check out the setlist and videos below. Did you go to the show? If so, comment and send us your pics!

The Dead Weather played the first of two sold out shows last night at Terminal 5. It was a hot sweaty mess as there were a lot of douchebags talking throughout the whole set about the Yankees, getting super drunk and how they saw TDW eating dinner at El Centro earlier in the night. Otherwise, it was a great show (though I wish they had played a little longer!). Alison Mosshart was all over the place, chain-smoking and rocking out. Jack White also proved that he’s definitely the only real musician in The White Stripes. Anyways, check out these cool pics courtesy of Danielle Villano (first two) and Krysten Brown (all the rest) and some videos from the show:

Update: Happy Genius Heroes also has some cool pics from the show.

Bruce Springsteen performed at the Glastonbury Festival this weekend and rocked out, going even 9 minutes beyond curfew resulting in a 3000 pound fine for the festival’s promoter Michael Eavis. It seemed as if it was well worth it as The Boss rocked out for nearly three hours and no one seemed to mind to staying late. Eavis said that he doesn’t mind paying the fine because “he last nine minutes were spectacular.” Check out the setlist from the show below (Note: most glastonbury videos on youtube are being taken down because of copyright restrictions from BBC which aired the concert)

Green Day will be performing their entire new album, “21st Century Breakdown”, on their upcoming summer tour. The disc is broken up into three “acts” (“Heroes and Cons,” “Charlatans and Saints” and “Horseshoes and Handgrenades”) and the band’s had some slight difficulty during rehearsal. Lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong said to Rollingstone.com: “We’ve done the first act and half of the second. Then we look at each other and go, ‘This is really hard.’ It’s funny — we make our most physical album not when we’re 19 but in our mid-30s.”

The band had its first attempt at trying the new format at a surprise show Tuesday night (4/7) at the Independent in their hometown of San Francisco. Here’s some more about the show courtesy of Spin.com

“The band — fleshed out to a six-piece with two guitarists and a keyboardist — opened with Dookie’s “Welcome to Paradise” then proceeded to perform their new album song-for-song, dividing the tunes into three acts (“Heroes and Cons,” “Charlatans and Saints,” and “Horseshoes and Handgrenades”) to mirror the concept of the record.”ul>

Chris Cornell played the first of two sold out shows at Webster Hall on Tuesday 4/7 in New York City. The New York Press (more informational review) and the Village Voice (mostly wasteful review) were on hand to witness the show. Some of my favorite lines come from the NY Press article:

“The difference between the crowd’s reaction to a Soundgarden song and a song off Scream would probably be best shown on one of those meters judging audience noise. The needle would barely move for a song off Scream, but it would break and start smoking for a Soundgarden song. This is not unlike many other famed singers who keep putting out new material. You don’t cheer for new Neil Young songs, you cheer for “Rockin’ in the Free World.” Bob Dylan the same.”

and

“Was it simply the audience not knowing these new songs off Scream? No. The problem is they have no energy, on record or live. They suck. I did not believe a word of what Cornell sang for any of the eight new songs he played last night.”
