Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan will kick off their first ever North American tour beginning October 13th in Boston, MA. The tour will also include two shows in the New York area, October 16th at The Bowery Ballroom and October 17th at the Music Hall in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Additional stops include Chicago, Minneapolis, Seattle and San Francisco. The tour will conclude with a performance at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on October 29th. See full list of dates below.

Since departing the celebrated Scottish indie-pop outfit Belle and Sebastian in 2002, Isobel Campbell has released several solo albums as well as critically acclaimed collaborations with former Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan. The August 24th release of Campbell’s haunting new album, Hawk, marks her third release with Lanegan and debut album with Vanguard Records.

Produced by Campbell herself, Lanegan lends his signature blues-folk growl to eight of the album’s 13 tracks, while singer-songwriter Willy Mason guests on two. Former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha appears on the track “You Won’t Let Me Down Again.” A music video for “You Won’t Let Me Down Again” is currently in production.

Halsted’s new album Life Underwater is out now and they’re celebrating with a new round of live dates set to start August 1st at the Beat Kitchen in Chicago, IL. (Full dates below)

Life Underwater was recorded in an old Victorian House in San Francisco during the rainy season of this past winter.

“Most reels of tape have higher price tags than our budget for this album, yet I consider it the most dynamic, sweeping and ambitious record I’ve ever made” says Halsted’s singer/songwriter and bandleader Ryan Auffenberg.

After years of songwriting, touring and a self-released EP or two, Auffenberg’s debut album “Marigolds” was released in 2008 on Evangeline Records. It received nation-wide accolades in the press and college radio, and one song was even featured on the season premiere of ABC’s medical drama “Private Practice”. But rather than follow up the success of “Marigolds” with yet another singer/songwriter effort, Ryan was eager to break new musical ground.

Joined by Peter Craft, the two set out to gather a group of musicians whose finely tuned music sensibility was equally matched by a simple passion for making art. Friends were gathered, songs written and practice spaces filled. While they fleshed out arrangements, tossed around production ideas and learned how to play as a group, Ryan began to feel a musical chemistry and dynamism unlike any he’d felt before. In the spirit of this idyllic atmosphere, this album has taken a project moniker, Halsted, rather than another Ryan Auffenberg record.

Download the track “Sellout” for free here

In a world where self-awareness and self-promotion are too frequently the guiding lights of the underground, Auffenberg’s true to himself honesty is a godsend” – Aversion

A lovely, positively life-affirming jewel” – Jersey Beat

Live Dates

August 1 – Beat Kitchen – Chicago, IL
August 4 – Rockwood Music Hall – NY, NY
August 5 – The Red and Black Bar – Washington, DC
August 9 – The Middle East (Upstairs) – Boston, MA

The Sword’s legacy in the metal world has been rapidly growing since they formed in 2003. Their recent stints opening for legends such as Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, and Motorhead have helped them garner praise from fans both young and old. Now on the heels of releasing of “Tres Brujas,” the first single from their forthcoming new album, The Sword have set their sights on their next move – a headlining world tour in support of Warp Riders (August 24th; Kemado Records).

The band has amped up their sound on what is truly a behemoth of a new album. Produced by Matt Bayles (Pearl Jam, Mastodon, Isis), The Sword stretched themselves beyond the pure metal they’re known for by touching on other forms of heavy rock as well. Warp Riders is also the band’s first concept album, and consists of an epic sci-fi narrative loaded with dazzling imagery. Stay tuned for a video trilogy that puts The Sword themselves in the middle of the action.

Gearing up to release their sophomore record Everything Under The Sun, Jukebox the Ghost performed the album from start to finish to a sold out crowd at 92Y Tribeca last week in New York City. In addition to the new songs, the band covered Donna Lewis’s hit single “I Love You Always Forever.” Singer/guitar Tommy Siegel comments:

“We heard it on the radio a couple of years ago on tour, and we were all thinking ‘Man, this song is awesome’ but we had absolutely no idea whose song it was — At the time we joked about covering it. Flash forward a couple of years and we were onstage at Bowery Ballroom covering it.”

Below is the video of the cover as well as a free live MP3 of their performance. Video and audio is provided by New York based production company VVUSIC.

Armed with their new record Everything Under the Sun produced by Peter Katis (Interpol, The National, Fanfarlo) and set for release on September 7th via Yep Roc the band combines their adept skills as individual musicians, tirelessly energetic live sets and pulsating catchy lyrics.

The record’s debut track, “Empire” is best described by vocalist/keyboardist Ben Thornwell as: ” …an extended metaphor of the heart as a castle, A keep is defined as ‘The Stronghold of a Castle’ thus, ‘My heart, is my keep and you are threatening me.’ And the truth is that an empire, as is love, is hard to keep peaceful.”

Atlantic recording group NEEDTOBREATHE has announced details of their upcoming U.S. tour, “Young and Far From Home.” The cross-country trek will kick off with a home-state show on October 27th at the Township Auditorium in Columbia, SC, and continue into December. The Daylights will be supporting as special guest on all dates.

“Young and Far From Home” will be the final tour to support NEEDTOBREATHE’s current album, “THE OUTSIDERS,” following the band’s highly successful headlining runs – this past spring’s “Won’t Turn Back Tour” and last year’s “The Outsiders Live” – both of which sold out in nearly every market visited. The first round of dates (see attached itinerary) will go on sale to the public as early as Friday, July 30th, with more dates being announced shortly. Presale tickets for “Young and Far From Home” will be available to The Insiders, the official NEEDTOBREATHE Fan Club, beginning Wednesday, July 28th. In addition to access to tickets before the general public, members of The Insiders are also invited to exclusive meet and greets with the band and an early opportunity to purchase special limited edition tour packages. For more information about “Young and Far From Home” presale tickets or how to join The Insiders, please visit www.needtobreathe.net/become-the-insiders.

Known for their incredible live shows, NEEDTOBREATHE recently performed at the Bonnaroo Music Festival and appeared on the cover of Pollstar magazine. The band’s relentless touring schedule includes upcoming performances at a number of summer festivals, support dates with Train, and their first European tour before the kick off of “Young and Far From Home.” For a complete list of tour dates, please visit www.needtobreathe.net.

NEEDTOBREATHE’s third and most recent album, “THE OUTSIDERS,” was released late last summer to universal critical acclaim and a top 20 debut on the Billboard 200. Their current single, “Something Beautiful,” continues to climb the Hot AC radio chart and has been featured in a number of television shows, including the ABC hit series “Cougar Town,” televised promo spots and commercials as well as the soundtrack to the feature film, “When In Rome.” USA TODAY heralded the song for its “…choruses that soar.”

NEEDTOBREATHE is Bear Rinehart (vocals, guitar, piano), Bo Rinehart (guitar, backing vocals), Seth Bolt (bass, backing vocals), and Joe Stillwell (drums, backing vocals).

The Upsidedown are about to turn rock ‘n’ roll on its head-again.

The Portland six-piece will drop its third album, The Town With Bad Wiring, via Reverb Records on September 28th, 2010. The Upsidedown stir up propulsive psychedelic pop over the course of the record’s twelve tracks. First single “Something Good” will hit radio in early September, and it paves the path to Town. Blending a danceable groove with seductively hypnotic crooning, “Something Good” is a trippy little ditty that’s instantly infectious. Right now, the band is in the midst of making the video for “Something Good.” It promises to give a unique look at their native Portland through the lens of video directors Cairey Haider and Justin Adams.

The Upsidedown didn’t build this sonic city alone, they attracted the help of numerous high-profile tastemakers. REM’s Peter Buck drops by for a guest spot, and Brian Jonestown Massacre’s Collin Hegna and the Dandy Warhol’s Pete Holmstrom also make appearances. However, the band hasn’t just been resonating with the indie elite; they’ve effectively seeped deep into the collective zeitgeist through high-profile song placements on both HBO’s True Blood and FX’s Sons of Anarchy. “Wolf Blood Honey,” a wolfed-up version of Town’s “La Paloma,” was featured on True Blood’s July 11th episode, while “If You Are Hell Girl” fueled an episode of Sons of Anarchy. You’ve also heard them on Vampire Diaries and Damages.

The band continues to garner critical acclaim for their idiosyncratic, ethereal and entrancing style. The Boston Globe calls them, “Dreamy and decadent in all the right places,” while The Willamette Week praises their “Dirty, glammed-up, drugged-down guitar rock with a dark heart.” This is only the beginning though.

Numerous tour dates precede the album’s release, and the band will no doubt be showering crowds with a little preview of Town. They’ve dazzled audiences alongside The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Black Angels, The Psychedelic Furs, Dead Meadow and many more.

Once you visit The Town With Bad Wiring, you won’t want to leave.

Upcoming tour dates are below.

Wed, August 11th Fresno CA – Audies Olympic
Fri, August 13th San Diego CA – The Temple Bar
Sat, August 14th Los Angeles CA – Bootleg Theater
Mon, August 16th San Francisco CA – Bottom Of The Hill
Wed, August 18th Sacramento CA – Blue Lamp
Fri, August 20th Portland, OR – Doug Fir
