With their brand new single, “45,” available now at iTunes (http://smarturl.it/i45) and Amazon (http://smarturl.it/a45), THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM will take the stage this week for two intimate sold-out gigs at Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn (on May 16) and the Roxy in West Hollywood (May 18). The shows are the prelude to a full schedule of tour dates, festivals, and television appearances through the summer in support of their fourth album, HANDWRITTEN, scheduled for a July 24 release on Mercury Records, a division of Island Def Jam Music Group.

On June 28, The Gaslight Anthem will appear (for the third time!) on CBS’s The Late Show with David Letterman. The band will also make a return appearance on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on July 27. In addition to Letterman and Fallon, the band has appeared on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Conan, and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The Gaslight Anthem will kick off the HANDWRITTEN album release campaign with a live stream of the Music Hall of Williamsburg show presented by Vans, starting at 9:00 p.m. on May 16, at http://new.livestream.com/thegaslightanthem. In conjunction with the show, The Gaslight Anthem and Bowery Presents are working with Food Bank For New York City to hold a Food & Fund Drive to collect canned goods and funds for hungry New Yorkers. They are asking fans to help in bringing nonperishable food donations and putting them in the white food drive bins located by the front door of the venue. The top 10 most needed items include canned beans, milk, fruit, vegetable, juice, meat, fish, soup, stew, and peanut butter. There will also be a Virtual Food Drive as another way to donate (link to be announced in the days ahead).

Leading up to the release of HANDWRITTEN on July 24, The Gaslight Anthem has scheduled a cross-country North American tour, opening July 5 at the Independent in San Francisco. The 12-city tour will wrap up on the new album’s release day, July 24, at Webster Hall in New York City. (See dates below)

HANDWRITTEN, The Gaslight Anthem’s first album on Mercury Records, was produced by two-time Grammy Award®-winner Brendan O’Brien, known for his work with Bruce Springsteen (Best Rock Album Grammy, 2002), Pearl Jam, Incubus, and many others. The track listing for HANDWRITTEN is as follows: 1. 45 * 2. Handwritten * 3. Here Comes My Man * 4. Mulholland Drive * 5. Keepsake * 6. Too Much Blood * 7. Howl * 8. Biloxi Parish * 9. Desire * 10. Mae * 11. National Anthem.

In addition to Williamsburg and the Roxy (both sold out in minutes), The Gaslight Anthem has already set several major festival appearances, including opening for Bon Jovi at Bamboozle in East Rutherford, NJ, on May 20; appearing at the Metallica Orion Festival in Atlantic City, NJ, on June 23; and Lollapalooza at Grant Park in Chicago. European dates include Le Zenith de Paris on May 29 and Zitadelle Spandau in Berlin on May 31.

Prior to HANDWRITTEN, The Gaslight Anthem – Brian Fallon (lead vocals, guitar), Alex Rosamilia (guitar, vocals), Alex Levine (bass, vocals), and Benny Horowitz (drums, percussion) – has released three full-length indie albums to date: Sink Or Swim (2007, XOXO Records), The ’59 Sound (2008, SideOneDummy Records), and American Slang (June 2010, SideOneDummy). In the spring of 2011, they performed “Bring It On,” a track from American Slang, on Letterman.

Also available for purchase at iTunes, and on vinyl from finer recorded music merchants like jackwhiteIII.com and thirdmanrecords.com, are Blunderbuss singles “Love Interruption” and “Sixteen Saltines”–the thoroughly unsettling AG Rojas-directed video for which provides a magnification of the last frontier of urban wasteland and its dispossessed youth left to indulge any impulse, and was likened by Rolling Stone to “The Hunger Games with guitars.”

Garbage today announced that the music video for the group’s new single “Blood For Poppies” will premiere tomorrow, April 3rd on AOL Music. “Blood For Poppies” is the first single from the band’s highly anticipated album Not Your Kind Of People, which is due out on May 15th on the band’s own STUNVOLUME record label.

On Tuesday, April 3rd at 1:00pm PST, Garbage will participate in a live Ustream chat where the band will answer questions from fans about the video and forthcoming new album, followed by the world premiere of the video live from Los Angeles.

The “Blood For Poppies” music video was shot in Los Angeles and directed by renowned fashion photographer and filmmaker Matt Irwin and inspired by visual artists like Magritte, Maya Deren, Luis Brunel and Francesca Woodman. “We piled into a transit van with the ridiculously talented team of Matt Irwin and Aaron Brown and hopped around little pockets of Los Angeles creating a gorgeous surrealist dream. We ate ice cream sandwiches in the sunshine and laughed a lot. I didn’t want the shoot to end,” said the band’s Shirley Manson.

Not Your Kind Of People will be released in both a standard and a deluxe configuration. Fans can preorder either version here: Standard Edition Preorder and Deluxe Edition Preorder (featuring four additional tracks). On April 21st for Record Store Day, Garbage will release “Blood For Poppies” on a limited edition, white vinyl 7-inch that will feature the track and an exclusive remix by drummer Butch Vig.

Garbage will hit the road this spring in support of the album by performing several headlining shows in the United States as well as various festivals throughout Europe with more dates to be announced over the coming weeks. Paul McCartney will commemorate the release of his forthcoming Kisses On The Bottom (out February 7 on Hear Music/Concord) with a once in a lifetime free streaming performance taking place live at 7:00 p.m. PST Thursday, February 9, from the famed Capitol Studios where much of the new album was created. Fans can watch the intimate concert through iTunes on their Mac or PC.

Kisses On The Bottom is a collection of standards Paul grew up listening to, as well as two brand new McCartney compositions “My Valentine” and “Only Our Hearts” (which feature guest turns, respectively, from Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder). Recorded with the aid of Grammy-winning producer Tommy LiPuma and Diana Krall and her band–who will back Paul for the Capitol live stream event–Kisses On The Bottom is a deeply personal journey through songs that, in some cases, a young Paul first heard his father perform on the family piano.

The February 9 Capitol Studios streaming event will be the first time ever that the reverent and adventurous performances of Kisses On The Bottom will be brought to life in a live setting.

Barsuk Records, City Slang and Nada Surf are excited to announce that they will be streaming their hometown album release show at the Bowery Ballroom tonight, beginning at 10 PM EST. Presented by Rdio and RootMusic BandPage, the full concert will be webcast live on their YouTube channel. For more details and the latest updates, fans can RSVP to the event on Facebook.

The band’s highly anticipated new album, The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy, has been hailed as “tremendous – full of big, blooming rock that practically glows with generosity,” by NPR’s All Songs Considered. Fans can listen to the entire album now at Spinner.com. “Waiting For Something,” one of the many explosive and melodic songs on the new record, just recently premiered on Stereogum and is available as a free download HERE. The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy, which also features the track “When I Was Young, is available everywhere including iTunes.

Nada Surf are also set to kick off their national tour on March 20 in Los Angeles, CA. The band have confirmed An Horse to be the opening act on all the dates, which will have the bands rolling cross-country and wrapping up in Washington, DC on April 10. The dates follow select east and west coast gigs in late January. The band will appear on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on January 30, to play a new song on TV and an old fan favorite which will get posted on latenightwithjimmyfallon.com the next day.

Stars is Nada Surf’s seventh record, and fourth for Seattle indie Barsuk, following the successful and critically lauded Let Go (2003), The Weight is a Gift (2005), Lucky (2007) and their self-released covers record if i had a hifi (2010). This is their first album of new material in four years, and unlike all of the other Nada Surf records, Stars was made with a distinct attempt to capture their live sound. “We’ve always played faster and a little harder live,” says vocalist/guitarist Matthew Caws, “but we’d play so carefully in the studio. So with this album, we made a conscious decision to preserve what it felt like in the practice room, when you play with that new-song energy.”

Nada Surf’s lineup for 15 years has been and still is Matthew Caws (vocals, guitar), Daniel Lorca (bass) and Ira Elliot (drums), though this time, as on if i had a hifi and the tour that followed, they invited guitarist Doug Gillard (Guided by Voices, Death of Samantha) to join in the proceedings. Chris Shaw (Wilco, Brendan Benson, Elvis Perkins in Dearland and Super Furry Animals) was brought in to produce and record.
