Garbage today announced that the music video for the group’s new single “Blood For Poppies” will premiere tomorrow, April 3rd on AOL Music. “Blood For Poppies” is the first single from the band’s highly anticipated album Not Your Kind Of People, which is due out on May 15th on the band’s own STUNVOLUME record label.

On Tuesday, April 3rd at 1:00pm PST, Garbage will participate in a live Ustream chat where the band will answer questions from fans about the video and forthcoming new album, followed by the world premiere of the video live from Los Angeles.

The “Blood For Poppies” music video was shot in Los Angeles and directed by renowned fashion photographer and filmmaker Matt Irwin and inspired by visual artists like Magritte, Maya Deren, Luis Brunel and Francesca Woodman. “We piled into a transit van with the ridiculously talented team of Matt Irwin and Aaron Brown and hopped around little pockets of Los Angeles creating a gorgeous surrealist dream. We ate ice cream sandwiches in the sunshine and laughed a lot. I didn’t want the shoot to end,” said the band’s Shirley Manson.

Not Your Kind Of People will be released in both a standard and a deluxe configuration. Fans can preorder either version here: Standard Edition Preorder and Deluxe Edition Preorder (featuring four additional tracks). On April 21st for Record Store Day, Garbage will release “Blood For Poppies” on a limited edition, white vinyl 7-inch that will feature the track and an exclusive remix by drummer Butch Vig.

Garbage will hit the road this spring in support of the album by performing several headlining shows in the United States as well as various festivals throughout Europe with more dates to be announced over the coming weeks. In addition, the group will perform at the recently announced KROQ Weenie Roast on May 5th in Los Angeles. Full list of dates can be found below.

Paul McCartney will commemorate the release of his forthcoming Kisses On The Bottom (out February 7 on Hear Music/Concord) with a once in a lifetime free streaming performance taking place live at 7:00 p.m. PST Thursday, February 9, from the famed Capitol Studios where much of the new album was created. Fans can watch the intimate concert through iTunes on their Mac or PC.

Kisses On The Bottom is a collection of standards Paul grew up listening to, as well as two brand new McCartney compositions “My Valentine” and “Only Our Hearts” (which feature guest turns, respectively, from Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder). Recorded with the aid of Grammy-winning producer Tommy LiPuma and Diana Krall and her band–who will back Paul for the Capitol live stream event–Kisses On The Bottom is a deeply personal journey through songs that, in some cases, a young Paul first heard his father perform on the family piano.

The February 9 Capitol Studios streaming event will be the first time ever that the reverent and adventurous performances of Kisses On The Bottom will be brought to life in a live setting.

Barsuk Records, City Slang and Nada Surf are excited to announce that they will be streaming their hometown album release show at the Bowery Ballroom tonight, beginning at 10 PM EST. Presented by Rdio and RootMusic BandPage, the full concert will be webcast live on their YouTube channel. For more details and the latest updates, fans can RSVP to the event on Facebook.

The band’s highly anticipated new album, The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy, has been hailed as “tremendous – full of big, blooming rock that practically glows with generosity,” by NPR’s All Songs Considered. Fans can listen to the entire album now at Spinner.com. “Waiting For Something,” one of the many explosive and melodic songs on the new record, just recently premiered on Stereogum and is available as a free download HERE. The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy, which also features the track “When I Was Young, is available everywhere including iTunes.

Nada Surf are also set to kick off their national tour on March 20 in Los Angeles, CA. The band have confirmed An Horse to be the opening act on all the dates, which will have the bands rolling cross-country and wrapping up in Washington, DC on April 10. The dates follow select east and west coast gigs in late January. The band will appear on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on January 30, to play a new song on TV and an old fan favorite which will get posted on latenightwithjimmyfallon.com the next day.

Stars is Nada Surf’s seventh record, and fourth for Seattle indie Barsuk, following the successful and critically lauded Let Go (2003), The Weight is a Gift (2005), Lucky (2007) and their self-released covers record if i had a hifi (2010). This is their first album of new material in four years, and unlike all of the other Nada Surf records, Stars was made with a distinct attempt to capture their live sound. “We’ve always played faster and a little harder live,” says vocalist/guitarist Matthew Caws, “but we’d play so carefully in the studio. So with this album, we made a conscious decision to preserve what it felt like in the practice room, when you play with that new-song energy.”

Nada Surf’s lineup for 15 years has been and still is Matthew Caws (vocals, guitar), Daniel Lorca (bass) and Ira Elliot (drums), though this time, as on if i had a hifi and the tour that followed, they invited guitarist Doug Gillard (Guided by Voices, Death of Samantha) to join in the proceedings. Chris Shaw (Wilco, Brendan Benson, Elvis Perkins in Dearland and Super Furry Animals) was brought in to produce and record.

Additionally, Beirut will be performing live this Friday, December 16th on WNYC’s “Soundcheck.” The show begins at 2 PM Eastern, and Beirut will be on at 2:35 PM for a few songs and an interview with their host, John Schaefer. Listen to Beirut on WNYC’s Soundcheck here: http://www.wnyc.org/shows/soundcheck/.

Joining Beirut leader Zach Condon (ukulele, trumpet, piano, vocals) is Perrin Cloutier (accordion, piano), Paul Collins (electric bass, upright bass), Ben Lanz(trombone, piano, tuba), Nick Petree (drums), and Kelly Pratt (trumpet, euphonium).

“Still the worldly musical tour guide, [Condon] focuses his songwriting on The Rip Tide… While The Rip Tide continues Condon’s love affair with baroque instrumentation, flair-filled horn arrangements, cinematic strings and well-placed ukulele riffs, the album also benefits from its restraint, never veering into self-indulgence or over-instrumentation.” – NPR Music’s “50 Favorite Albums Of 2011″

“sounding confidently assure in its identity—which unsurprisingly makes it Condon’s most immediately enjoyable record to date” – Paste (#20 in “The 50 Best Albums of 2011″)

“The show confirmed how cohesive this group has become. And it showed how Mr. Condon has been growing into his singing…he sounded like someone who knew his bearings, and well.” – The New York Times

“a collection of brief, charming melodies so effortless and intimate you’ll want to play them over and over again.” – TIME.com
