On March 16th, Kate Miller-Heidke will release her US debut LP Curiouser.

“We had no songs,” she said. “What we had was a huge burst of inspiration. We went into this album with a vision. We mapped out how we wanted it to sound; the aesthetic, the spirit of it. Experimental, hooky, unashamedly pop . . . we wanted to exploit everything that’s unique about my music.”

“We” includes Kate’s partner in life and music, husband/guitarist/collaborator Keir Nuttall.

Recording with Los Angeles producer Mickey Petralia (Beck, Peaches, eels, Dandy Warhols), who had the right mix of humor, enthusiasm and weird old electronic stuff to offer the new tunes, Miller-Heidke, Nuttall, bassist Ben McCarthy and drummer Steve Pope spent two months crafting Curiouser. With his strict 4pm to 4am shifts (with no days off), Petralia’s studio wizardry turned out to be the perfect galvanising force for Miller-Heidke’s and and Nuttall’s carefully detailed home demos.

“To me,” she said, “it sounds like a modern album, a forward-looking album.” To everyone else, however, it sounds like one of the best Australian records in recent memory – a set embraced by an enthusiastic audience and one lauded with critical acclaim.

“Mickey thought Curiouser was a noun, something that made you more curious - that’s what made up my mind about the title. Wouldn’t it be great if people listened to this album and it made them curiouser?”

MY WORLD 2.0, a new album of 10 all-new songs, is the follow-up to Justin’s debut album, My World, released in November. My World, which earned RIAA platinum in just a few short weeks, contained Justin’s first four Top 40 hits on the Hot 100, “One Time” (certified RIAA platinum), “One Less Lonely Girl,” “Love Me,” and “Favorite Girl.” Justin is the first solo artist in history to send four songs from a debut album into the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 prior to the album’s release.

His well-traveled-greaser look fits the bill, but his slide-guitar playing is a runaway smelter of blues, country, and melodic rags. There’s a good, sparse Delta-blues base to it all, but at his best, Engh can fire off some impressive bursts of energy from his seat onstage.” “Lordy, Noah Engh might just be the dirtiest, rawest performer found on Dirty Hippie Radio! At the Cat Club sunday night in Hollywood, in between jive-talking rants flavored with whiskey, Noah Engh, the maniacal one man show, was picking and sliding the hell out his guitar like a man who’s sold his soul at the crossroads. Somehow, he convinced the devil to throw in an electric boot too. Yeah, an amplified boot heel for some serious stage stomping. If this guy couldn’t stomp his foot, he’d likely explode; however, from stomping his foot so much, it is said that he couldn’t walk from the shin splints. Throw in a $6 ‘MacGyvered‘ CB mic, some cigarettes, more whiskey to wash down the smoke, a dirty Captain Beefheart/Howlin’ Wolf-esque voice, and you’ve got what I would venture to describe as a crazy, blues screaming, jive ranting, dark doppelganger Doug MacLeod character: Noah Engh, The Kid Fantastic – parents, hide your daughters. Canadian parents, you’re fine for another year and half until Noah’s ban from touring illegally throughout your country is lifted. ~Dirty Jeff Catch his show. Danny Ross is piano-pop rocked out. An expressive singer, pianist and multi-instrumentalist with a strong discipline in classic pop songwriting, Danny Ross combines Beatlesque hooks with personal and inventive lyrics to create a fresh brand of alternative pop.

The debut LP four years in the works, Danny Ross Presents One Way, was self-released on October 6, 2009. Inspired by the great conceptual albums of rock history from The Who’s Tommy to Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Ross shares his personal account of young adulthood in America through a thirteen-track journey of highly textured pop songs. Ranging from the intimacy of the first single, “Forgive Me Love,” a duet with singer Joely Pittman, to orchestral ‘Wall of Sound’ arrangements, Ross touches upon nearly all the cornerstones of pop music to tell his story. Written, arranged and co-produced by the artist, One Way is an ambitious new release and was performed in its entirety with a fifteen-piece band at the Record Release Show on September 12th, 2009 in New York City’s St. Mark’s Church.

A current Brooklyn resident, Danny Ross, 25, grew up in Long Island, New York inspired by the craft and melody of 60s pop and soul music. Self-taught on piano and guitar in his early teens, Ross went on to study jazz piano at London’s Goldsmiths College before creating the Popular Music Composition and Performance major at Cornell University. There, Ross worked with professors in music and poetry over a year’s time to write and arrange the first incarnation of One Way, performing it live with a seventeen piece band in April 2006 for hundreds of students. The Cornell Daily Sun declared his work “a masterpiece” and “an album for our era,” and Ross received Summa Cum Laude honors.

Introducing Danny Ross! [EP] was released in the summer of 2007 to a generation hungry for sophisticated yet accessible pop music. Featured in The New Yorker, The New York Post ‘Page Six,’ Yahoo News, Newsday, Time Out New York, The New York Daily News, and Brooklyn Vegan, Ross has been packing rooms and playing residencies with his eight-piece band and horn section at New York City venues like Pianos, The Living Room and Rockwood Music Hall. In the space of two years, he’s accumulated over 30,000 MySpace hits, released a successful music video for “I Can’t Wait” as featured in CMJ, and was a Williamsburg Live Songwriting Contest Finalist. But from nine to five, Ross lives a very different life as a staffer for US Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), and he credits his day-job for providing him with the organization needed to be a successful DIY artist and manager. He even performed with You-Tube phenomenon “Obama Girl” at the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

With all that he’s accomplished so far in his young career as an inspired songwriter and composer, a dynamic singer and performer, and a rising presence in the New York City music scene, Danny Ross is now introducing himself to the world.

The Dirty Heads have emerged onto the music scene with their unique signature blend of acoustic infused hip-hop and classic reggae, creating the perfect soundtrack for an upbeat summer.
