Nate Ruess formerly of pop-rock band The Format recently emailed The Format’s mailing list (I’m on it because I want to give you as much news as possible on EVERY band, not just guilty pleasures) about his new band, fun.. You can check out the music on their myspace. Here’s the full story on the new band:

“Hi.

My hope is that you are reading this because you are interested. My hope is that you are reading this …

According to the UK Sun, Lenny Kravitz may be joining Velvet Revolver. He’s been spotted jamming with the band and he’d be just the big name replacement they need to not seem like a washed up 80s band. Mr. Liv Tyler, I mean Royston Langon (formerly of Spacehog) was rumored to be the new guy but Duff shot that down. I just hope that they don’t get Sebastian Bach. …

Ozzfest 2008 this year was one day long and it took place on Saturday in Dallas, Texas. Hell Yeah, Sevendust, Jonathan Davis of Korn, Serj Tankian of System Of A Down, Drowning Pool, Ozzy Osbourne and Metallica played. Metallica debuted a new song (Yeah, I gots the video for ya’ll) and I think kicked a lot of ass. There was also an allstar tribute to Dimebag Darrell with Jamey Jasta from Hatebreed, Scott Ian of Anthrax, Pearl Aday of.. Pearl …

In accordance with the plan of using aging rockers to play Super Bowl Half-Time Shows, Bruce “The Boss” Springsteen and the E Street Band have been hired to deliver oral/visual magic on February 1st in Tampa while your favorite team gets beat by the Patriots or Cowboys. Why do they call them the E Street Band? Is E for Easy, Ecstacy, ExLax? Which is it? Either way, it should be a decent show considering how much Tom Petty and the …

If you went to the All Points West Festival this weekend and didn’t watch Radiohead, you pretty much wasted your time and money. This festival should’ve been called “Radiohead-fest” because most of the other bands pretty much were no-names, has-beens or never-will-bes. I mean Kings of Leon played and Duffy and The Duke Spirit but could you justify dropping over 80 bucks a day on this crap? I saw Radiohead play in Liberty State Park before and I think I spent under 40 bucks for that show. 40 dollars less and a lot less crap. Plus getting to Jersey City is a pain in the ass. It has more one-way streets than Manhattan and Philly combined. And if you think that you’re better off taking the train or light rail, I laugh in your face. Ha Ha. This festival was run/promoted by Goldenvoice who do Coachella (EXCELLENT FESTIVAL) so you’d think that it’d be a better show but come on.. Duffy? Rodrigo y Gabriela? Wow dudes, you need to at least put Chuck Berry on like Virgin Mobile Fest did. Watch the videos because they’re free here.

So a track with Muse playing pretty much backup to The Streets made its way online last week. Because I love all 10 of you from Idaho who visit everyday, I found it for you. If you think it sounds like Rage Against The Machine, well you’re right but who cares. Muse makes Rage’s music sound good.

This weekend, if you were anywhere besides Baltimore or Jersey City, you missed some good music and your life sucked. Who knew you’d hear that for NOT being in those cities? At the Virgin Mobile Fest this year, Foo Fighters, STP, NIN, Chuck Berry (yeah, really) and a bunch of other washed up bands played. For absolute full coverage, go here and here. I’ll have more videos besides these if I find anything of quality. Enjoy

I went with a buddy of mine to see Bloc Party on Thursday night. It kicked ass. Longwave opened. They were alright. They used to have a popular song back in the day but they sound more indie now.. which probably helps them. Anyways, here’s the setlist thanks to Kevin from blocparty.net for the setlist.
