Chop Shop/Atlantic recording artist Anya Marina has announced details of a major U.S. tour. The dates – which see the Portland, Oregon-based singer/songwriter traveling alongside her Chop Shop/Atlantic labelmates, Scars on 45 – begin January 27th at Portland’s Doug Fir Lounge and then continue through mid-February (see attached itinerary).
The trek heralds the release of Marina’s new album “FELONY FLATS,” set to arrive on March 13th. The self-produced album – which follows 2009’s acclaimed label debut, “SLOW & STEADY SEDUCTION: PHASE II” –sees the multi-talented Marina joined by some of the Pacific Northwest’s finest musicians, including guitarist Cody Votolato (Blood Brothers, Telekinesis), bassist Jeff Bond, drummer Joe Plummer (Modest Mouse, Mister Heavenly), and Blitzen Trapper’s Eric Earley, who contributes additional piano and guitars.
Highlighted by songs such as “Notice Me” and “You Are Invisible,” Anya describes the inspiration behind the album as “a map of my darkest hallways, my deepest—and sometimes ugliest–yearnings, and my most glaring mistakes. It chronicles a time of profound loss. During this time, I lost friends and family, I lost my way–risked losing nearly everything—and then slowly, piece by piece and step by arduous step, found my ‘way back home.’ It was a difficult journey, but it was also my proudest. It’s the album of which I am most proud all around—sonically, creatively, thematically, lyrically.”

Chop Shop/Atlantic recording artist Anya Marina has announced touring plans to support the release of her digital EP, titled “SPIRIT SCHOOL.” After a co-headlining show with Steve Poltz on December 5th at Mississippi Studios in Portland, OR, Marina will be kicking off 2011 with a run of dates supporting Joshua Radin, beginning on January 28th at Mr. Small’s Theater in Pittsburgh, PA (see dates below).
