To the delight of fans, Atmosphere has announced that they will add a second leg to their “The Family Vacation Tour” this summer, which kicks off next week with a highly anticipated performance at Lollapalooza. Joined by Rhymesayers artists and veteran MCs Blueprint and Evidence, the iconic indie rap heroes will continue their touring late into September adding stops in the Midwest and South. Blueprint will be supporting the dates with a set largely drawn from his most recent release, Adventures In Counter-Culture, which straddles dance and hip-hop. Also hitting the stage is Evidence, who will be releasing his highly anticipated Rhymesayers debut Cats & Dogs on September 27th.

Atmosphere’s recent release, The Family Sign, has garnered the attention of many – charting at the #2 spot for Independent Albums and Rap Albums on the Billboard charts, as well #13 on the Billboard Top 200. Much like the title of the album and tour imply, the focus right now is on the fans, friends, and obviously the family. Full list of tour dates below along with Atmosphere’s latest video, “The Last To Say” which premiered on MTV and addresses the difficult subject of domestic violence.

Fresh off the heels of their brand new album, The Family Sign, their landmark headlining performance at the Soundset Festival and a well-received Bonnaroo appearance, Atmosphere are announcing another string of live dates with label-mates Evidence and DJ Babu (of Dilated Peoples), Blueprint, and Prof. The tightly knit crew will bring a multi-faceted set of performances to venues both intimate and vast, delivering new music and time-tested favorites.

Few of their contemporaries have dedicated such a large percentage of their professional lives to touring, and this statement rings truer with each additional outing. Atmosphere, originally a 2-piece consisting of a touring DJ and rapper Slug, have augmented their battery with the addition of producer Ant, guitarist Nate Collis and keyboardist Erick Anderson, reinvigorating expected classics with live instrumentation and performing songs from the latest albums with absolute, heartfelt accuracy.

Columbus, Ohio’s Blueprint will be supporting the dates with a set drawn largely from his April release Adventures In Counter-Culture, a self-produced gem that straddles rock and pop while remaining steadfastly hip-hop. Representing Rhymesayers’ western contingent, Evidence will be supporting his highly anticipated Rhymesayers debut Cats & Dogs with DJ Babu of the legendary Dilated Peoples, and long-time Rhymesayers affiliate Prof rounds out the bill.

“Reverence really was the word of the night, and it was a two-way street… something beyond words formed a bond that made the night something to commemorate. Life is easy to enjoy when you’re at a killer Atmosphere show.”- BOULDER WEEKLY

Special fan pre-sale begins tomorrow at 3:00pm CST. These tickets are limited and first come, first serve:

Atmosphere, the staunchly independent Minneapolis hip-hop group comprised of MC Slug and producer Ant, celebrate the release of The Family Sign on Rhymesayers Entertainment today. Here Slug touches on themes of fatherhood, loss, love, disappointment and jubilation and tailors them to the instrumental framework provided by Ant and keyboardist Erick Anderson and guitarist Nate Collis. Lyrically, The Family Sign is evidence that hip-hop wields the ultimate potential to discuss life’s virtues and shortcomings. The Rhymesayers camp, and Atmosphere in particular, have emerged as an industry anomaly, selling over two hundred thousand copies of 2008′s When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold, an accomplishment for any artist. Slug and Ant have united a body of devoted fans that religiously subscribe to the idea that creativity, as a microcosm for life in general, is a give and take, counterbalanced and anchored by appreciation for ones friends, family, and audience. This philosophy is what The Family Sign embodies, and it’s the key to the tremendous legacy that Atmosphere continues to establish.
