Pete Yorn will celebrate the release of his new, self-titled album with shows at intimate venues in Los Angeles and New York, a return visit to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and a first time appearance on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.” The critically acclaimed singer-songwriter-guitarist will play Los Angeles’ Roxy Theatre on Monday, September 27th – the eve of the album’s release on Vagrant Records – and perform on “The Ellen Show” on Thursday, September 30th. He’ll play the Bowery Ballroom in New York City on October 5th and appear on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on October 7th. Then Yorn will head to Texas to play the Lady Bird Lake Stage at the Austin City Limits Festival on October 9th.

Today Spin.com (http://www.spin.com/articles/exclusive-download-new-pete-yorn-song) is offering an exclusive free download of “Velcro Shoes,” a track from Yorn’s upcoming album, which was produced by Frank Black (The Pixies). Beginning September 7th, fans who pre-order the album on the iTunes Store will receive a bonus track entitled “Favorite Song.”

Lead single “Precious Stone” is already getting airplay on numerous AAA radio stations, including WTMD/Baltimore, WEHM/Long Island and KZMV/Breckenridge, CO. “Yorn goes full on rock in his new song. Complete with overdriven guitars, Yorn’s signature voice and a chorus with a hook that will stick for hours,” said Filtermagazine.com while myoldkentuckyblog.com noted: “Ragged guitars and rock-steady drumming provide spartan accompaniment to Yorn’s beat down delivery, and in this instance, less is so much more.” Spin.com called “Precious Stone” a “back-to-basics pop rock track with enough gritty electric guitars, hummable melodies, and lovelorn lyrics to make Wallflowers-era Jakob Dylan blush.”

The new album is a visceral, off-the-cuff collection recorded in five short days in 2008. Yorn was making Back & Fourth in Nebraska when he got an email from Black suggesting that they record together. Intrigued, Pete flew to Salem, OR, where the two set up an impromptu studio. The resulting songs are raw, born of shattered nerves and shifting dreams, yet edged with hope.

Yesterday, we posted the audio of the entire The Dead Weather Austin City Limits set from this past Sunday. Today, we have the video for you. Just a quick heads up. Like the audio we posted, the video is missing some of the beginning of the first song. Don’t complain like you did when we were off by a few songs of the Kings of Leon MSG setlist. If you do, we’ll become highly annoyed and be unlikely to post up cool stuff like this in the future (oh yeah, we might have audio of Passion Pit’s ACL set too). If you want the setlist and the audio from the show, click here. Oh yeah, if you don’t like the video quality, blame it on Hulu and their stream. So here we go, THE DEAD WEATHER ACL VIDEO.
