More About MTK: Music To Know Festival

Founded by Chris Jones, owner of Sole East Hotel in Montauk, and screenwriter Bill Collage, MTK presented by Bing delivers two days of cross generational music and presents 18 of today’s best and brightest bands plus fashion, lifestyle, chefs, wines and beers to know. MTK represents great music – this is Music To Know.

According to Co-Founder Chris Jones “The Hamptons are a unique market to say the least — full of decision makers, trend setters, and taste generators who have always been eager to embrace the best and the brightest in our culture — whether that is in literature, film, fashion or music. We are excited to bring this collection of artists together in our community, and hope this is the first of many annual events.”

MTK teamed with Downtown Music and RCRDLBL (http://www.RCRDLBL.com) to Co-Produce the event. As media partner, RCRDLBL assisted in the lineup’s curation, and will supply the festival’s digital marketing component. Downtown CEO and RCRDLBL Chairman Josh Deutsch said, “Downtown and RCRDLBL are pleased to partner with the MTK team to curate such an incredible lineup featuring some of today’s most exciting and innovative artists. And we are especially excited to bring the event to such a unique and special place as the Hamptons – one of the most vibrant cultural communities in the country.

Several retail/lifestyle pop-up shops will be announced in the coming weeks.

To support the local community hosting the festival, MTK has pledged to give $100,000 to East Hampton-based charities payable prior to the festival to ensure the recipients receive the funding. With just a week to go until the eagerly awaited release of Bright Eyes’ seventh studio album, The People’s Key (out February 15th on Saddle Creek), the celebrated Nebraskan band have added further dates to what will be their first US tour in over three years. Additional supporters have also been confirmed, Titus Andronicus, Jenny And Johnny, Farmer Dave Scher, Conduits and Dawes will each be joining the band on select dates. The band is currently overseas playing a string of sold out dates in Europe and U.S. tickets are going fast!

Since 2006 the once revolving cast of Bright Eyes players has settled around permanent members Conor Oberst, Mike Mogis and Nathaniel Walcott with an array of talented musicians joining them in the studio and on tour. The 7-piece band will be kicking off this tour in Miami in March before taking in the South, the East Coast, the Midwest, Texas, Canada and the West Coast.
