In anticipation of their upcoming headlining North American tour, Caveman are sharing an exclusive live performance of “Vampirer/Old Friend” that they shot in Los Angeles last year on their first visit to the West Coast. You can see the video, shot by John O’Hara in Silver Lake on YouTube HERE and Vimeo HERE. Their debut CoCo Beware will get a wide release on March 27th via Fat Possum Records after the self-release on the band’s Magic Man! label in the fall.

This comes after an exciting start to 2012 during which Caveman have signed on with Fat Possum Records, sold out their first headlining show at Bowery Ballroom, and visited Europe for the first time. You can see a full 7 camera videoshoot of their performance at the Route du Rock festival in France HERE. Now the band sets out on a Spring tour through North America starting in Chapel Hill on March 6th and including stops in Georgia, Florida, Austin’s SXSW, Toronto, the Midwest, and Los Angeles, where they’ll return to the Echo — home to their first-ever LA show, a sold-out one last December. The tour ends with a homecoming show with Beirut and Atlas Sound at the prestigious Brooklyn Academy of Music theater, a fitting venue for the band whose front man Matt Iwanusa used to sing at New York’s Metropolitan Opera for about 6 years.

Caveman is made up of five proud New York natives: lead singer/songwriter Matt Iwanusa, who also adds percussion and drums to the band on record and live on stage. Guitarist Jimmy “Cobra” Carbonetti, who designs his hand-made Cobra Guitars from scratch, drummer and native Manhattanite Stefan Marolachakis, bassist Jeff Berrall, and Sam Hopkins on synths. Caveman’s 10 song debut CoCo Beware is produced by Nick Stumpf (French Kicks) and shows front man Matt Iwanusa’s ability to craft melodies and lyrics which tackle topics of life and love, reflections on hope and joy, and moody observations, all sung in grandiose four-part harmonies, wrapped in timeless melodies.

For Caveman, the last year and half have been a whirlwind. Formed in New York back in January of 2010, the band has gone from relative unknowns to opening for Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes, White Rabbits, Here We Go Magic, Cursive, Wye Oak and Yuck in a little under a year. Listening to CoCo Beware, it’s easy to see why the band has garnered so much attention in such a short period of time. Recorded and produced by Nick Stumpf (French Kicks), CoCo Beware (out digitally now, in stores November 15th via Magic Man! / ORG Music) showcases the dreamy chamber pop and multi-part harmonies that have been turning heads at the band’s live shows for the better part of a year.
