Chickenfoot were on the Tonight Show with Conan O Brien on 6/5. They played “Oh Yeah” which has guitar arrangements that sound similar to Red Hot Chili Peppers’s “Can’t Stop.” This is even more amusing considering that Joe Satriani is suing Coldplay. Maybe RHCP should sue Satriani and Chickenfoot. Btw, despite the shirt that Chad Smith is wearing, he looks a LOT like Will Ferrell in this video. Is that his real hair? anyways, watch the video and enjoy four different songs at once.. I mean “Oh Yeah.”

Supergroup Chickenfoot’s getting amped up to release their new album in a few months and will probably be playing a few CD release shows in major markets before going to play some summer European festivals, at least according to Joe Satriani. Check out the following message from his forum on his site:

    MESSAGE FROM JOE

Chickenfoot. Chickenfoot? Chickenfoot! Yes, the band Chickenfoot featuring Sammy Hagar, Chad Smith, Michael Anthony and yours truly, is about to release its first CD called, “Chickenfoot”, of course. It was one year ago this last February that we first got together in Vegas for a little jam in front of a few thousand people, and decided to make a go of it. I’m glad we did.

Thinking back, it seemed kind of crazy to join a new band just as I was about to release “Professor Satchifunkilus…” and launch its world tour. All the hard work paid off though. Our “Live in Paris” DVD from that tour will be released this year in all its psychedelic glory, and the “Chickenfoot” CD should be out in about a month, or, two. As a new band, Chickenfoot will do a few CD release party gigs in May to kick things off, then it’s off to Europe for a few weeks of Summer festivals. We are looking towards a headlining tour in the USA this fall. I’m so excited about bringing our new band and music to the stage. The energy this unit puts out is incredible, absolutely amazing. Chickenfoot Rocks!

    Joe

So since the Red Hot Chili Peppers are broken up, I mean taking a break from writing crappy songs about snow, I mean taking a hiatus, bassist Flea is taking classes on music theory, music composition and jazz trumpet at the University of Spoiled Children (or Southern California if you prefer). Anthony Kiedis is busy being a daddy, John Frusciante making awful solo albums and Chad Smith playing in Chickenfoot, somehow college seemed to be the best choice for Flea. To read about Flea trying to avoid being late to class, go here.

Contrary to rumors started by homeless people, Sammy Hagar didn’t leave Van Halen because of his Cabo Wabo tequila. It turns out that guitarist Eddie Van Halen was being influenced by his then manager (in 04, Irving Azoff?) and by alcohol and drugs. Sammy says that Eddie was threatened by Sammy and his leadership in the band. It’s a shame. The Perv had a chance to see the band back in 2004 and they put on an excellent show WITH Michael Anthony. Screw you Eddie for getting rid of him and bringing in your son Wolfgang Puck. As we all know now, Anthony and Hagar are in a new band with Joe Satriani and Chad Smith (drummer from the Red Hot Chili Peppers) called Chickenfoot. I hope it kicks VH’s ass.

MusicRadar interviewed Joe Satriani recently about his new group with Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers and former Van Halen members Sammy Hagar(Mas Tequila!) and Michael Anthony(Mas Whiskey?) called Chickenfoot. Satriani claims that the band sounds like early Zeppelin (Why do people do this? Didn’t early Zeppelin suck just like early Nirvana, early Metallica, early Jonas Brothers etc. They were just learning to play their instruments!) and that the band will be changing their name soon (Good call). Hear more of the interview here.
