This season, Monster Energy and Crüe Fest 2 partnered to put the Monster Energy Stage on the summer’s most anticipated traveling rock festival, turning up the Crüe Fest 2 experience to offer fans ten great bands for one price. In nearly every market, Monster Energy empowered local radio stations to run contests for the opportunity for a local band to open the festival on the Monster Energy Stage. Now Monster Energy is taking the opportunity to the next level.
Fans can go to http://CrueFest2.MonsterEnergy.com to see a full list of local bands selected for the tour and find links to check out each band. Starting on September 6th, at the close of the tour, fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite local band. The band that receives the most votes will receive a one-year sponsorship with Monster Energy.
Throughout the tour, http://CrueFest2.MonsterEnergy.com will be consistently updated with more bands, video, and links to the bands’ websites. Fans can also download a free song from the Crüe Fest 2 mainstage act Charm City Devils, “Let’s Rock and Roll†and free song downloads from select Monster Energy Stage bands.
Cavo is one of the hottest rock bands of the year. They have their debut album Bright Nights * Dark Days coming out on August 11th on Reprise Records. They have a hit rock radio single “Champagne” (listen Quicktime, Windows Media, iTunes) and the track “Let It Go” was featured in the Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen movie and soundtrack. Here’s a little bit about how the band got their start. The band’s music quickly jumped into rotation among radio stations nationwide simply off of a local St. Louis station playing their EP in 2007. Soon afterward, the band would be opening for major rock bands like Staind and gain the attention of hitmaking producer, David Bendeth (Breaking Benjamin, Paramore). With Bendeth’s help, Cavo signed with Reprise Records in October 2008 and now are preparing their major label debut Bright Nights * Dark Days. The band is currently out on the Crue Fest 2 tour through August. You can see all the dates below the video for “Champagne.” For more on the band, go to cavomusic.com, myspace.com/cavomusic and twitter.com/cavomusic.

Crue Fest 2 launched this past Sunday in Camden, NJ (That city is so nice. First time I was there, I saw a guy starting a fire in a trash can. Ahh.. memories). This year’s lineup consists of 10 bands on 2 stages: Motley Crue, Godsmack, Drowning Pool, Theory Of A Deadman, Charm City Devils, Rev Theory, Cavo, Shram, 16 Second Stare and 1 local band. We didn’t make it to the Camden show but a bunch of other people did and we have videos from the best summer rock touring festival. Check them out below and Rolling Stone’s review of the show:
Crüe Fest 2 is partnering with Monster Energy to add a second stage at most dates on this year’s festival. The new Monster Energy Stage doubles the entertainment value at Crüe Fest 2 with five additional bands: Rev Theory, Cavo, Shram and 16 Second Stare plus one band chosen locally in select markets, showcasing the next generation of rock. You won’t have to pay extra for it. You get to see ten bands for the price of one! For the cost of a Mötley Crüe concert, fans will see a day long rock festival with Mötley as the headliners with Godsmack, Theory of a Deadman, Drowning Pool and introducing Charm City Devils. The performances on the Monster Energy Stage will be staggered between the main stage acts creating a non-stop music event and adding to the overall festival atmosphere (you won’t miss your favorite bands!)
“It’s always been in our hearts to turn our fans onto new rock music. Another stage seems to be just what the doctor ordered for Crüe Fest 2 and gives loyal Crüe and rock fans more for their hard earned money. See ya there,” said Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars, Vince Neil and Tommy Lee.
Mötley Crüe manager Allen Kovac notes, “Mötley Crüe has always added value for their fans whether it be through their music, their merchandise or their stage production, it has served them well in their career.â€
The opening band will be chosen by local radio stations. Check out www.cruefest2.com to find more info on how to enter to open the Monster Energy Stage.
To kick off this opportunity, the anthem of Crüe Fest 2, Charm City Devils’ “Let’s Rock-N-Roll,†will be available as a free download. The new site is set to launch soon, visit www.monsterenergy.com for details.
“Mötley Crüe is such an iconic band with the most loyal fans in the world. In a time where it seems everything is being cut back, Mötley Crüe is giving more to its fans and at the same time giving up and coming bands exposure. Monster Energy is proud to be a part of the havoc that will be wreaked across the nation this summer,†says Brent Hamilton of Monster Energy.
The Monster Second Stage will not travel to Minot, ND, Portland, OR, Las Vegas, NV, Kansas City, MO and Syracuse, NY.

What better way to announce a tour than to stop New York City traffic riding around in an ambulance to Fuse studios outside of MSG. Motley Crue arrived at their press conference in a Dr. Feelgood era ambulance accompanied by scantily clad nurses. Also in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their first #1 album, the band will be playing Dr. Feelgood from beginning to end every night of Crue Fest 2 in addition to all their hits and songs off of their new album “Saints of Los Angeles”.
The lineup this year will feature Motley Crue, Godsmack, Theory of a Deadman, Drowning Pool, and Nikki Sixx’s new proteges, Charm City Devils. At the press conference, Motley Crue debuted a new music video featuring members of all five Crue Fest 2 bands performing the single “White Trash Circus”, which hit radio today. Accompanying the band on stage were Sully Erna of Godsmack, Tyler Connolly of Theory of a Deadman, Ryan McCombs of Drowning Pool and John Allen of Charm City Devils.
The tour starts off on July 19th in Camden, NJ tours and finishes on September 5th in Darien Lake, NY. Tickets go onsale March 20th and 21st. Check out www.CrueFest2.com and www.Motley.com for exact on-sale information and for tickets. There’s also a tour hotline with extra details that you can reach by calling 818.748.9075. Presale tickets to Citi cardholders are available tomorrow March 17th at 10am local time.
Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx says, “This is what we imagined when we came up with the idea of Crue Fest last summer – putting together the most kick ass bands on one bill for a day of rock. All of the bands on this tour complement the others — musically, theatrically and passionately.”
Theory of A Deadman’s Tyler Connolly states, “This Saints of Los Angeles tour with Motley Crue has been, so far, the greatest rock experience for Theory of a Deadman, and I can happily say that they have been nothing but amazing to us. We so look forward to Crue Fest 2 this summer and are honoured to be a part of the best f#@%in’ tour this summer. Period!”
Ryan McCombs from Drowning Pool notes, “Drowning Pool has been touring straight through for the past two years and we are psyched to bring a kick ass show to these crowds on the ultimate rock festival.”
Charm City Devils’ John Allen says, “We are so lucky that Nikki Sixx has taken Charm City Devils under his wicked yet brilliant wing and is allowing us to share the same stage with this incredible bill just as our record, Let’s Rock -n- Roll is hitting on Eleven Seven Music.”
