In a celebration of mashups and dance music, David Guetta, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Foo Fighters and Deadmau5 all performed together (not at the same time). Just watch the video and rant on in the comments below:

Leading up to the Grammys on February 12, where he’s nominated for three awards (Best Dance/Electronica Album for his critically acclaimed LP 4×4=12, Best Dance Recording for “Raise Your Weapon” with Greta Svabo Bech and Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical for his stellar remix of the Foo Fighters’ “Rope”), electronic music producer deadmau5 (pronounced ‘dead mouse’) will release the MEOWINGTONS HAX LIVE FROM TORONTO DVD February 7 on Ultra Music.

The Canadian platinum-selling, independent artist made history on November 5, 2011, when he became the first Canadian artist as well as the first electronic artist to have a headlining concert at Toronto’s Rogers Centre, marking the last stop of his record-breaking Meowingtons Hax North American tour. The state-of-the-art live show was captured for the MEOWINGTONS HAX LIVE FROM TORONTO DVD.

The history of Rogers Centre has played host to many great musical events and concerts, such as headlining tour shows by U2, The Rolling Stones, Coldplay and the Concert For Toronto special event, but before deadmau5 the venue never had a Canadian artist headline their own show. It earned great accolades from the Canadian press:

“He’s sold millions, won awards around the world and last night in Toronto he became the first Canadian headliner in the 22 year history of what’s now known as the Rogers Centre…For years electronic music has fought for audiences and for respect from Canada’s music scene, now by filling this big stadium with music, lights, and all of those mau5 ears this country’s biggest techno star is making a statement, a loud one”

“At midnight on Sunday, a man in a cartoon mouse head with glowing eyes transformed Toronto’s Rogers Centre from a looming concrete hangar into a futuristic playground. Standing on a Rubik’s Cube-like structure that seemed to have crash-landed from space, he played pummelling, mesmerizing electronic music to a crowd of 14,000 on the floor, with more spilling up into the stands.”

- National Post

“The final gig of the tour, though, was a landmark moment in more ways than one. Deadmau5 became the first Canadian artist ever in the Rogers Centre’s 22-year history to headline the gargantuan venue, for one thing, putting this scrawny miscreant in an oversized “Mau5-head” mask in the same league as U2, Coldplay and the Rolling Stones. He also picked up a platinum sales award for last year’s 4×4=12 album before the gig, the only one handed out to an Anglo-Canadian performer thus far in 2011.”

- Toronto Star

Named after his cat Professor Meowingtons, deadmau5’s Meowingtons Hax 40+ date tour broke several records, beginning with its opening date in Chicago when he became the first electronic artist to co-headline the annual Lollapalooza festival along with Foo Fighters. lauded his performance as the #1 set in The 10 Best Sets of Lollapalooza 2011 list and stated, “The level of spectacle that the Canadian electronic musician/producer commands is not just beyond any other electronic act, it’s beyond any other act period.”

Following Lollapalooza, deadmau5 set new records Los Angeles, as well as in Montreal and New York City within days of each other. He sold out four consecutive shows at the legendary Palladium in Los Angeles. In Montreal, he performed an unprecedented four consecutive shows at The Metropolis including a record three sold-out nights. His next tour market was New York City, where he performed an unprecedented six consecutive sold-out nights at Roseland Ballroom. Rage Against the Machine held the previous honor with five consecutive plays at Roseland in the summer of 1996. The Meowingtons Hax Tour also helmed headliner slots at Outside Lands and the Virgin Mobile FreeFest. Other multiple sold-out dates include shows in Atlanta, Dallas, Boston and Chicago. deadmau5 also headlined his first baseball stadium show at PETCO Park in San Diego in October.

The amazing Rogers Centre show captured on the MEOWINGTONS HAX LIVE FROM TORONTO DVD brings you mind-blowing visuals and live performances of some of his biggest hits, and previously unreleased tracks:
