Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros today announced a North American tour this coming September in support of their recent release Here, which debuted at #1 on the Independent Music Chart and #5 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart the week after its release. The tour will kick off in Berkeley, CA at the Greek Theatre on September 7th and will wrap up on October 5th at Crossroads in Kansas City, MO. The band will be joined by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! A fan-presale starts this Friday, 6/15 at 10:00AM at www.edwardsharpe.tickets.musictoday.com.

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros released Here on May 29th via Community Music. Relix magazine hailed it as “an album full of undeniable folk-rock hooks, gospel overtones, infectious lyrics, orchestral swells and a whole lot of love,” and Entertainment Weekly praised the album and its “lovely troubadour melodies.” The group recently wrapped a nearly sold-out spring tour in the U.S. with performances on The Late Show With David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel Live. They also performed on WXPN’s World Cafe, and the album was chosen for NPR Music’s First Listen program. The band is prepping to head overseas for European dates in July prior to returning to the U.S. for their September live dates. They will be putting the finishing touches on the follow up to Here which will be released later this year.

Additionally, today Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic launched a new website (www.edwardsharpeandthemagneticzeros.com) where fans can check in on the latest news, tour dates, photos, videos and the newly added band blogs where each band member will share photos, videos, and stories. The band also recently launched their Town of Songs website, an online environment of exploration and discovery set in the world of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros that continues to evolve and this week features the seedlings that you can grow into “That’s What’s Up”.

Big Easy Express, the Emmett Malloy directed film documenting the band’s Railroad Revival Tour in 2011 with Mumford & Sons and Old Crow Medicine Show, will be released on iTunes on June 26th and is available for pre-order beginning today HERE. For more information on the film, visit www.bigeasyexpress.com. The film premiered at the 2012 SxSW Film Festival and took home the Headliner Audience Award.

ABOUT EDWARD SHARPE & THE MAGNETIC ZEROS
Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros formed in Los Angeles in 2007. They released their debut album, Up From Below, in July 2009 on Community Music. The album has sold over 275,000 copies in the US, and charted on iTunes for 69 straight weeks. With its unique and universal appeal, their hit single “Home” soared to over 775,000 downloads. After intensive touring throughout 2009-2011, including hit appearances at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and Coachella, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros have proven themselves to be a touring force to be reckoned with. In March 2011, the troupe’s lead singer Alex Ebert released his solo debut album, Alexander, on Community Music, which was written and recorded during breaks from being on tour as a part of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. The album includes ten brand new songs that Alexander wrote and played entirely himself. In April 2011, the band embarked on the “Railroad Revival Tour” with Mumford & Sons and Old Crow Medicine Show where the band traveled exclusively in vintage railcars across the American Southwest for a week and played concerts at unique outdoor locations along the route. Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros actively support Water Wells For Africa, Charity Water, APJ Now, Hope Campaign and Voice Project.

Fresh off a run of tour dates that began in Santa Ana, CA on March 14, 2012 at The Observatory, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros announced that they would release a second album by year’s end in addition to their next studio album, Here, which will be released by Community Music on May 29, 2012.

“In the middle of the recording process we realized we were essentially making a double album. Being four years since our last album, the writing explored a wide variety of subject and sound, as it turned out we had a lot to say,” said the band’s Alex Ebert. “Instead of putting it out all at once, we found that two different albums seemed to be forming. Alone these albums are albums. Together these albums express a varying and so relatively living portrait of our lives.”

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros today posted the final tracklisting for Here this morning on their website www.edwardsharpeandthemagneticzeros.com, and recently unveiled the artwork for the album, consisting of a photograph shot by Alex Ebert in Mozambique on the fan website http://themagneticzeros.com.

“The hard division created by the horizon of sea and sky represents the appearance of a dualistic world of dark and light, us and them, here and there. The circle that breaks the dividing line between the sea and the sky represents what feels to be the underlying truth: that creation lives not by the laws of duality or division, but emanates from everything at once, swirling all falsely-held boundaries in a wonder of every spectrum of experience,” said Ebert.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros made an appearance with members of Mumford & Sons and Old Crow Medicine Show at the 2012 South By Southwest (SXSW) Film Conference and Festival on March 17th for the world premier of Big Easy Express, which won the Headliner Audience Award. Following the screening, the groups performed an acoustic set followed by an encore screening of the film and performances at the LBJ Lawn at the University of Texas. The Emmett Malloy directed film covered the bands’ journey as they traveled in vintage railcars across the American Southwest over the course of a week, playing concerts at six unique outdoor locations along the route.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros will launch a nationwide tour starting in Oakland, CA at the Fox Theatre on May 2nd. The band will be headlining the iconic Greek Theatre and kick off its 2012 Season on May 4th. The following night the band will headline Santa Barbara’s Santa Barbara Bowl for the first time. The tour will cross the country and include a headlining performance at the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN and a stop in Canada before it winds down on June 1st at the Wakarusa Festival in Ozark, AR.
