13-time GRAMMY winning producer, songwriter and rapper Eminem has signed on as executive producer of the hotly anticipated debut album from five-time GRAMMY-nominated singer songwriter Skylar Grey, it was announced today. The first single, “C’mon Let Me Ride” featuring Eminem, which is produced by Alex Da Kid and mixed by both Eminem and Alex, will be released to all digital retailers on December 11. Grey’s debut album, now titled Don’t Look Down, is due out Spring 2013 from KIDinaKORNER/Interscope.

“When I was working on Recovery I was introduced to Skylar by Alex Da Kid and I was blown away with her talent as both a songwriter and vocalist,” said Eminem. “This album is really going to give her a chance to connect with the fans who probably know her music, but might not know her yet. I think they will be as impressed as I am.”

“Putting out a debut album is a bit scary – I want it to be just right so I took some extra time to finish it. Eminem’s increased involvement has been such a blessing; I’m getting guidance from an artist I really admire and trust,” said Grey. “Having written many new songs, the album has become a completely different animal, hence the title change. This new single with Em, in particular, is very exciting. We have worked on so many serious songs together – it’s a nice change of pace to do something fun and sarcastic.”

The music video for “”C’mon Let Me Ride”” featuring Eminem was shot in Detroit last week and will also be released along with the single on December 11th.

The new Dr. Dre “I Need A Doctor” video featuring Eminem and Skylar Grey has premiered on MTV and MTV.com.

Directed by acclaimed film director Allen Hughes (Menace II Society, Book of Eli), the seven and a half minute film includes private home video footage from Dr. Dre in a retrospective of his life and career as well as a spectacular car crash that totaled a real Ferrari Modena.

“This is a very unique song, very personal and groundbreaking so when I first heard the track I knew it was something I had to do because I like to do things that are different and innovative,” said Allen Hughes. “Besides knowing Dre for 20 years, I felt compelled to do this as a fan and as a connoisseur of popular culture I wanted to be a part of this event because it’s from the last album that a large amount of people will listen to from beginning to end.”

“I Need a Doctor” is the second track from Dr. Dre’s forthcoming third and final solo album, Detox. Dr. Dre, Eminem and Skylar Grey recently performed the song for the first time on the Grammy Awards and the track debuted at #1 on iTunes.

Dr. Dre began his career creating groundbreaking music as a member and producer of renowned hip hop group N.W.A. His two solo albums which followed, The Chronic (1992) and Dr. Dre 2001 (1999) are two of the most influential and essential hip hop albums of all time. Among the artists whose music Dr. Dre has produced are Eminem, Gwen Stefani, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, 2Pac and 50 Cent. He has won six Grammy awards including Producer of the Year in 2001. In 2008 Dr. Dre co-founded with Jimmy Iovine , Beats by Dr. Dre, the enormously successful high-performance headphone and sound transmission company.

Rap supergroup Slaughterhouse and budding superstar Yelawolf have been signed to Eminem’s Shady Records it was announced today.

“Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse, it’s kinda phase two of Shady,” says Eminem. “It’s the new generation of Shady Records and as we’re trying to rebuild our label, it’s exciting for hip-hop and with all of these forces coming together and with what everybody’s capable of on the mic, it’s gonna be fun.”

Bringing together the East Coast, West Coast and Detroit in the middle, Slaughterhouse consists of Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Royce da 5’9”. Most recently, Slaughterhouse was featured on “Session One,” a bonus track on Eminem’s 2010 blockbuster Recovery album. Eminem is expected to be personally involved in Slaughterhouse’s sophomore album scheduled for release in 2011.

Said Royce Da 5’9″: “It’s very exciting for me to reunite with Eminem years after our Bad Meets Evil project together. Slaughterhouse on Shady Records will be a force to reckon with.”

Late last year, Yelawolf released Trunk Muzik 0-60, a compilation of select tracks from his critically acclaimed 2010 mixtape Trunk Muzik, along with six previously unavailable songs. The Alabama native is currently in the studio recording his full length major label debut.

Said Yelawolf: “Considering where I’m from and the shit I’ve been through, it’s hard to put into words what partnering with Shady means to me, my team at Ghet-O-Vision, and my state of Alabama. I can tell you that when you’re willing to give your life up to see a dream through, the reward is great. And now that I’ve become an apprentice to one of the greatest artists in the world, my potential reaches beyond anything I ever imagined. Let’s kill this shit.”

Shady Records was founded in 1999 by Eminem and his manager Paul Rosenberg. D12, the label’s first signing, were also Shady’s first breakout stars, selling more than four million albums in the U.S. In 2002, the label released the quadruple platinum 8 Mile soundtrack, with its hit single “Lose Yourself”–the first hip-hop song to win an Academy Award for Best Original Song. Shady Records then partnered with Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment to ink 50 Cent, who subsequently has sold more than 23 million albums worldwide. Of Shady’s 11 albums to date, four have earned U.S. multiplatinum certification, three others platinum (including the compilation Eminem Presents: The Re-Up) and two gold. The label has sold over 40 million albums worldwide.

The VMAs were on tonight. No big surprises except for Cher presenting the Video of the Year award to Lady Gaga. There really was no controversy and everyone’s talking about how much the VMAs sucked this year (everyone says this every year btw). I wonder if Fuse could do a better job. At least the MuchMusic Awards once had Arcade Fire on . Check out the videos of the full performances from tonight below:
